Michelle Gomez (Bad Education, Green Wing) will join the cast of Doctor Who, playing the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere when the series returns on 23 August.
Speaking about the role, Michelle Gomez said: “Well of course Peter Capaldi is our next Doctor, which makes complete sense. I’m thrilled to join him. Well, you would be wouldn’t you?”
Lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, added: “I’ve known Michelle for years, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to Doctor Who. She’s everything we need – brilliant, Scottish, and a tiny bit satanic.”
Filming is well underway for Series 8 of Doctor Who. Guest stars confirmed to join Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the new series, which will air on BBC One this Autumn include Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes and Hermione Norris.

The Other
July 5th, 2014 - 12:53pmI just had a thought regarding the classic Cyber-Head, considering it’s a battered Cyber-Head, but an earlier model, seen so soon after the tragic demise of Handles, it can be only one thing: Handles’ Great, Great, Great Grandfather!
(only kidding, although…)

July 5th, 2014 - 11:58amJohnny Lee Miller doesn’t play Sherlock. He is Sherlock!
LordofWHO
July 4th, 2014 - 7:57pmit doesn’t matter if Sherlock films early next year, as they can film WHO at the same time just like they did with the 50th and Sherlock season 3

July 3rd, 2014 - 10:04pmSeries six had one Cyberman episode and a Dalek cameo (and all the aliens with cameos in A Good Man Goes to War). That’s fairly old monster-less, I would say, considering there was only one episode which only featured old monsters (closing time)

July 3rd, 2014 - 7:30pmI highly doubt Moffat will be stepping down. Let’s not forget, Sherlock is mainly run by Mark Gatiss, and Moffat teased at his plans for Series 9 which he said would be next year.
I do agree though that Johnny Lee Miller is a better Sherlock!!
Dr who

July 3rd, 2014 - 10:11amSo the new series of Sherlock starts fliming early next year. So what does this mean for series 9 of new who? Does this mean that Moffet is standing down after the next series or does mean we will we have to wait until 2016 for series 9? Speaking for my self I much prefer Jonny Lee Millers take on Holmes anyway.

The Moffat Paradox
July 2nd, 2014 - 12:23pmWell bringing back the Ice Warriors was a hit and I would like to see an updated return of what I consider to be the REAL Silurians from the original series: particularlly the Sea Devils.
Coming up with besides of late The Weeping Angels a good new Alien/Monster is always going to a case of as with the Daleks/Cybermen originally whether lightning strikes in the right place at the right time. If it does then it takes a life of it’s own.

The Big Friendly Button
July 1st, 2014 - 8:37amIt is always nice to see my favourite monster in the series, but for some reason i have a feeling that the Dalek episode will be centred around the Time Lords possibly returning.
