Dalek The Supreme
September 21st, 2014 - 2:58pmI disagree. Clara has been vastly improving ever since The Time of the Doctor. While she did annoy me in Listen, I think she’s been one of the highlights of this season. I think it’s been the mostly average episodes that have let this season down for me.
Dalek The Supreme
September 21st, 2014 - 2:56pmIf it weren’t for Listen, I’d probably be very interested in a Clara/Danny focused episode.
Dalek The Supreme
September 21st, 2014 - 2:55pmI wouldn’t say Series 8 is bad, but aside from Into the Dalek (which was spectacular) and maybe Deep Breath, the whole season has been pretty average. Peter Capaldi certainly has loads of potential, and his Doctor’s character is great, but only when the writers get him right. He keeps slipping into Matt Smith-like moments that feel out-of-character for the Twelfth Doctor. I’m actually losing faith in Steven Moffat, and considering he’s written my all-time favorite episode and a few others I’d consider great, that’s really saddening to see.
Dalek The Supreme
September 21st, 2014 - 2:50pmIt was… alright. The premise and story was pretty good, Clara has returned to form, the Doctor was brilliant, and the Teller was terrifying. As for the problems, the side characters were underdeveloped and nothing really became of their inner conflicts, they pulled the same “monster just wants to find its mate” thing they did in Hide, only it’s even more forced here, and the atomic shredders being teleports and the two side characters coming to the rescue felt like a huge cop out. I’d say a 6/10 or a 5/10. While Steve Thompson didn’t screw up as badly here as he did with The Curse of the Black Spot or Journey To the Center of the TARDIS, it still falls under “average” in my opinion.

September 21st, 2014 - 2:27pmI was just going all ‘Paradise Towers’ – the Architect this week, and next week is the ‘Caretaker’….the week after – Red Kangs are best!
THE ERGON
September 21st, 2014 - 2:27pmYOu can also draw parallels with capaldi/baker in that they both appeared on the show before they became the doctor, Their doctors are finding it difficult to endear and engage the audience due to the difficult regenerative change and the viewing figures are starting to dwindle. I do hope capaldis doctor settles down and I think measures might be taken to avoid this later. I,too don,t wish to return to those dark uncertain times.

September 21st, 2014 - 2:10pmI think Capaldi is very good, it’s just Moffat keeps delivering terrible scripts. It’s like Colin Baker – his time on Doctor Who was bad because the writers added dark horror to his stories. Please don’t go 1986 on us Moffat!
THE ERGON
September 21st, 2014 - 1:38pmWhy does SM overcomplicate the plots/timelines in such a roundabout way?.I know its his style but whats wrong withsome straightforward storytelling for a change. It doesn,t have to be twisty turny.I,m not watching’sherlock’. Its structured as though I,m Watching a tarantino/Nolan. Lets get back to basics and stop being too clever by half.Hes nothing to prove. Having said that it was an entertaining enough caper and keeley hawes gleefully camped it up as ms. delphox in the sarah Lancashire/celia imrie mode. The ending did have a touch of the ‘Hide’ episode about it. Still trying hard to engage with the capricious doctor. I feel hes going to push claras loyalty too far by the end of this series.
doctor who r u now
September 21st, 2014 - 1:21pmas a fan of dr who since the 2005 reboot,im afraid its lost its way,the new docs rubbish, the storys are very weak,my children wont even watch it now.to prove my point watch 9th,10th or 11th doc episodes to see wonderful doctors with character, sadly capaldi was wrong choice.in the words of john hurt-doctor no more-.time moffet regenerated too as sadly theres no chemistry between doc and clara any more in his writing and whats happenend to the music score inside the episode,no doctor theme!i am still a fan I just hope it gets better.
Dalek Smith
September 21st, 2014 - 12:54pmIn all honesty it’s Capaldi making the episodes interesting, he is a great doctor, we haven’t had screen presence like this since Eccleston, Capaldi is easily better than Smith and Tennant
the astronaut of death
September 21st, 2014 - 12:47pmwhen this episode was announced o was really exited I love heist films and I love doctor who so for me this was the perfect combo
but to be honest last night I was dissopinted . it was good but not what I was expecting . I felt the story was slightly poor and rushed and confusing. i felt the 2 chacters did not have enoght of a story if you know what mean I also thought it should have been more like oceans eleven but they got into the bank so easy and I disliked the ending witch was very similar to hide . but over all it was alright / good
but I think it could have been better
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 21st, 2014 - 12:44pmYou didn’t really like the Teller? I thought that the Teller was fantastic, and a substantial part of what made it a very good episode. Why didn’t you like (he/she/it)?
Jason
September 21st, 2014 - 12:43pmQuite enjoyed Time Heist, in part because Clara didn’t dominate the story too much. Don’t think Richard Briers will be able to appear in Doctor Who as he DIED last year!

September 21st, 2014 - 12:38pmI WAS looking forward to this one but to be honest I was a tad disappointed. It sounded excellent but it wasn’t anything special. To Be honest, I do like the series but the writing hasn’t been great. Deep Breath was good, Into the Dalek was bearable, Robot of Sherwood was childish but I liked it, Listen was quite good but I only think of it as a small episode. With an episode with this theme and lasting 50 minutes I expected more. Never mind…
the astronaut of death
September 21st, 2014 - 11:13ama lot of people said that about smith when he stated
the astronaut of death
September 21st, 2014 - 11:12amdid any of you watch listen

September 21st, 2014 - 11:09amI totally Agree with you!

September 21st, 2014 - 10:40amI would have to disagree with Capaldi (my opinion) I think he is an excellent doctor. However I agree with your view on the scripts, they are very as you say poor and self indulgent… 🙂
The Doctor and Handles
September 21st, 2014 - 10:37amI’m loving this series!

September 21st, 2014 - 9:22amMy patience is wearing thin too. I thought Time Heist was a slight improvement, but from very poor to just poor. I don’t like this incarnation of the doctor, and I don’t think Capaldi acts well as the doctor. I didn’t think his acting was anything special when he played other characters in Dr Who and Torchwood either, although I know that Peter Capaldi can act, as has been seen in other shows. He’s simply just not the doctor. I think the scripts have been poor and self-indulgent, and Clara (and Jenna Coleman’s acting) have been the only saving grace for this series. I hope she doesn’t leave before the doctor regenerates.
Sid Rat
September 21st, 2014 - 9:12amClara has held this series together so far. Time Heist was a bit of an improvement for this series, although still quite unoriginal. The supporting characters were better, but 12th is still a poor doctor.
Andrew
September 21st, 2014 - 8:18amPatience wearing thin with this new series and new doctor now. 5 episodes in and it’s become just another TV programme now.
I used to watch the midweek re-run on BBC3 in previous series, but I find myself watching old episodes on Only Fools and Horses on Gold instead
Still Not Ginger
September 21st, 2014 - 8:02amSo was the twist that the Doctor was the arcitect?
DOCTOR WHO ONE
September 21st, 2014 - 7:58amBE HONEST !! did anyone else think of Louise Redknapp’s version of the Reservoir Dogs classic ‘stuck in the middle with you’ every time you looked at Clara ? 😀
GallifreyanKnight
September 21st, 2014 - 2:13amI didn’t think it was anything spectacular to be perfectly honest with you.
Average at best.

September 21st, 2014 - 12:57amI enjoyed it, hope to see the return of the other companions and the miss delfox character forgot her name. but I didn’t really like the teller the twist at the end was good but some parts were confusing …. It was nice to see Capaldi taking lead but I’m still getting used to him being the doctor … He just hasn’t connected with me in the role yet( and its not because he’s scottish , I’m Scottish myself so no probs there) but overall enjoyable. 7/10 from mme.
TheMastersWife
September 21st, 2014 - 12:00amI think this Doctor is fantastic, serious but funny, love the outfit, the tarsus control and the music. The teller was great, bit like a cosmic cow. When the phone rang I thought River may make another appearance as the architect! Fabulas !
Jammy2305
September 20th, 2014 - 11:15pmSensorites appeared on screen – Nice First Doctor throwback! Also SJA and Torchwood villans in that scene!
Jammy2305
September 20th, 2014 - 11:13pmI’m hoping for that too! Alas, I doubt it’ll happen…
Jammy2305
September 20th, 2014 - 11:11pmI agree that in Hide it was totally unnecersary, but in this ep I actually felt it made sense and gave a reason for the creature to be controlled.
Agree that it wasn’t the best episode ever, but it was certainly a good solid watch. Capaldi in particular was on good form!
