September 6th, 2014 - 9:32pmDid anyone see the doctor get his sonic screwdriver back because after taken by the sheriff, I don’t remember see him pick it up, so does that mean it’s blown up
Imlookingforthedoctor
September 6th, 2014 - 11:25pmthat maybe a slight possibility but I doubt he’ll be getting a new one because we see him use the same sonic casing as 11th’s in the next time trailer.

September 6th, 2014 - 9:24pmDid anybody else notice that Capaldi put a middle finger to Robin when he reached into his jacket to grab the spoon? I don’t think it was intentional but if it was, well done Gatiss!

September 6th, 2014 - 9:02pmSorry guys but that was awful, bad plot and terrible writing. The series so far us a let down, capaldi needs great writing to pull off his lack of romantic appeal, think he has been let down too. Dr who should have a bit of silly nonsense goes part and parcel but 3 episodes of insipid, obvious and poor attempts at humour is enough now. Insulting as dr who fans are generally intelligent viewers capable if following intricate plots and storylines. This series is awful so far.
Rollonregen
September 6th, 2014 - 9:03pmAgreed.
the astronaut of death
September 6th, 2014 - 9:07pmI don’t think it was “awful” it was my worst episode of the series though
but I still think it was great i think it was good to have a bit of a fun episode after two dark ones
and I don’t think this is the worst series at all actually I think it is on its way into being the best
and it actually was funny
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:07pmAgreed also
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:09pmAgreed with Charlie
Anonymous
September 6th, 2014 - 9:10pmcapaldi has not been let down!
the only person who can say he has been let down is the man himself
and if he did feel that then he would not have signed up for series 9 would he?
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:12pmAnonymous – I think your mistaken. Hope he knows when to quit.
Anonymous
September 6th, 2014 - 9:12pmSorry, but I’m going to have to disagree with you there, Charlie. This episode wasn’t very good compared to others, but still enjoyable. Into the Dalek was brilliant and Deep Breath was pretty good too.
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:14pmSorry anonymous but ALL the episodes so far have been terrible. Nothing to write home about.
the
September 6th, 2014 - 9:15pmCharlie I think you went a bit over the top there
the astroanut of death
September 6th, 2014 - 9:17pmthe last two episodes have both got outstanding reviews from fans and critics
Rollonregen
September 6th, 2014 - 9:18pmOf course he’ll be there for season 9. Its a great gig, why wouldn’t he?? And Moffat wouldn’t keep him for only one season after ‘bigging him up’ so much, as that would make him look like a fool.
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:18pmWe’ll this is one critic who was a fan, who now is SO disappointed.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:20pmAs the astronaut of death mentioned, overall, Deep Breath and Into the Dalek had very good reviews on here and other places on the internet. It looks like series 8 is doing well for most Whovians…though the viewing figures don’t seem to be doing that well.
Anonymous
September 6th, 2014 - 9:20pmAgreed, hubby and I are hanging on my our fingernails hoping one episode will be good. So far a very disappointing series and we hate the new music
Anonymous
September 6th, 2014 - 9:21pmI understand your disappointment for this episode but the series so far has been great and if you have found the series so far terrible why are you still watching it?
the astronaut of death
September 6th, 2014 - 9:23pmas for the fewing figures
we got 9 million for the first episode witch was great for the ratings
and the into the dalek got 6 million witch is not surprising as it was up against x factor premier
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:25pmWhy am I still watching? Because I am a massive Dr Who fan, and therefore I really wanted to believe in series 8. So far I am so disappointed, but just hope that I may come to find an episode that will turn me back around. So far though – not even close to being turned.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:25pmLet’s just ignore everything else apart from one thing for now: did you enjoy it? Plot flaws and things like that do indeed matter, but enjoyability is the most important thing.
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:27pmNo did not enjoy it AT ALL.
Anonymous
September 6th, 2014 - 9:28pmwell adz what do you think listen will be like
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:31pmWe’ll I really would like to think that this one will be as dark as every one makes out. Would like a “Serious” episode rather than the comedies we have had to endure.
Dalekparadigm2
September 6th, 2014 - 9:34pmI don’t know what’s wrong with everyone but I think that the guys and gals against ‘charlie’ are being unfair to the series. Just because it’s not YOUR cup of tea it doesn’t mean that EVERYONE hates it. I’m standing alongside you charlie. Although this episode wasn’t the best of Capaldi, I enjoyed it all the same. If the rest of you have nothing NICE to say, don’t say anything! That’s an easy enough rule to go by!

September 6th, 2014 - 9:34pmlast weeks was serious
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:34pmThis looks like a slightly scary episode. Moffat’s best episode is a scary one (Blink) and Moffat has written Listen, so I have high hopes.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:36pmDalekparadigm2, this is simply a small debate. Nobody has posted anything at all offensive to my knowledge! 😀
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:36pmNo way was last weeks episode serious. God I would have laughed from start to finish if it wast so poorly written. Nothing serious here so far.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:39pmAdz, please tell me how Into the Dalek was not a serious episode. A lone rebel ship surrounded by Daleks…you can’t seriously say that Into the Dalek wasn’t a serious episode! It’s similar to certain classics – humans in space fighting battles. 🙂
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:42pmPersonally, I don’t mind light-hearted episodes at all. It would be a bit boring if every episode’s dark…
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:43pmTemporal Jelly Baby – compared to previous Darlek encounters, would you not expect to be filled with dread and fear? Would you not wounded if and how the doctor is going to survive? None of that was apparent in this episode. It was a joke. Good effects ok I’ll give it that, but nothing more. I was so bored.

The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 6th, 2014 - 9:45pmAdz, so be it. My idea of a good episode is obviously different to yours. All I ask is that you look at these episodes with a mind as open as it can possibly be and see if you can enjoy them yourself. 🙂

RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
September 6th, 2014 - 10:41pmi think capaldi is great, but this ep didn’t really suit him. this was the worst so far
deep breaths storyline was weak, but i still enjoyed it for the new doc and clara.
i loved last week, thought it was adventurous and unique
Dalek Supreme
September 6th, 2014 - 8:39pmI quite enjoyed it. I wasn’t expecting this episode to be great, but I hoped it wasn’t too bad. No, it wasn’t a great episode, but it was fun. Especially Robin’s and the Doctor’s constant arguing. Certainly not the greatest, but defiantly one of the funniest episodes since 2005!
Rollonregen
September 6th, 2014 - 9:27pmStill watching in hope. Still watching as a Whovian who still enjoys the Tardis, Clara, etc, and who WOULD LOVE to be thoroughly enjoying it again. I wouldn’t abandon the Whoniverse part way through a series, however this will be the first series of the modern era that won’t be added to our DVD collection. And our little boys (who each have differing views on the 12th) are also miffed that the Character Building figures are so small!! – Anyone have any views on the small figures??

September 6th, 2014 - 8:32pmWhat a brilliant episode, made me warm to Capaldi and was generally great all-round. So much better than Moffat’s writing, thanks to Mark Gatiss!
Big D
September 6th, 2014 - 11:48pmTraditionally Im a big Gatiss fan and have been on here calling for him to be made showrunner instead of Moffat…..BUT….. now, Im not sure.
This was a huge disappointment for me, given the writer. Yes it was funny in parts but overall I thought it was quite shoddy writing / direction / editing. And Ben Miller cast as the Sheriff of Nottingham???
I suspect that I will be in a distinct minority on this but overall this just didnt work for me.
Gallifrey Will Rise Again
September 6th, 2014 - 8:31pmFantastic!. I thought the constant bickering between robin hood and the doctor was quite funny. Jenna coleman is really shining in this series alongside the amazing peter capaldi by her side. This episode i thought had a more ‘classic’ feel to it than the previous two.
Dalekparadigm2
September 6th, 2014 - 8:30pmBrilliant episode! Loved this rendition of the classic tale. Looking forward to (hopefully) meeting Ben Miller tomorrow at Nor-Con V (convention in Norfolk). What a fantastic weekend!!! New who, tomorrow’s events. Wowzers!!!

September 6th, 2014 - 8:29pmA great episode overall, but there were two things I found implausible: the golden arrow bit at the end, and Clara’s magical growing hair!

RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
September 6th, 2014 - 8:29pmmeh, it was ok
bit cliched, the doctor and robin got annoying. plot was a bit weak, robots died quite quickly, and it wasn’t about them. it was about the sheriff, i thought it’d have more to do with them.
on a good point, ben miller was great
I didn’t expect much from it, not as good as last week
next week looks great!

September 6th, 2014 - 8:25pmAbsolultely Amazing. A new twist on a true legend!

A really great episode. It reminded me of the first Sontaran episode with Lynx.

September 6th, 2014 - 8:23pmWell…it was okay. The worst episode so far this series, but so far we’ve only seen 3. The plot didn’t quite make sense (with the golden arrow) and it was a bit too silly for my liking, but it was still enjoyable.
Rollonregen
September 6th, 2014 - 8:55pmI agree that this was the worst episode in the series so far. I don’t like this Doctor. I have tried to like him, but for me he feels less and less like the Doctor each week. Jenna Coleman once again carried the episode, like the previous weeks. Its certainly not all Peter Capaldi’s fault; the scripts aren’t as enjoyable either. Over the last few weeks, I have started to wonder if I am the only Whovian not enjoying the 12th Doctor, however on speaking to fellow fans, it would appear that only the ones liking the 12th are taking the time to post, and the dislikers aren’t bothering.
Adz
September 6th, 2014 - 9:05pmAgreed withRollonregen – not liking series 8 at all. Sorry Capaldi but you just are not The Doctor.
Scripts the poorest I’ve seen for ages.
Anonymous
September 6th, 2014 - 9:09pmI do like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. I prefer Matt Smith overall, but Capaldi is still very good and definitely feels like the Doctor too. As I posted above, this episode didn’t quite work, but it was still enjoyable and Into the Dalek was a brilliant episode (Deep Breath was very good but below my expectations). I wouldn’t be quite as harsh as you were there, Rollonregan, but people have different opinions. 🙂

September 6th, 2014 - 9:28pmI’m a true Whovian. I have been watching it since 2005 and I have bought and watched over 70 classic adventures, and I just happen to like series 8. 🙂
Gallifrey Will Rise Again
September 7th, 2014 - 12:30amI’m a die hard fan too. And it’s always the same when a new doctor is finding his feet in his first series the clowns will come out to play, but come episode 12 SILENCE WILL FALL and they’ll jump on the bandwagon just as they did with the brilliant matt smith (my doctor). FACT!. Not true fans!
