The thing I don’t get about the Impossible Astronaut is that nobody died. Amy shot the spaceman before it killed the Doctor meaning he doesn’t die. That was the only disapointment of the epsiode. It scared me half to death with the Silence and I had to check the room in case there was one in the room. There wasn’t luckily.

Interesting that Amy has a sick stomach and is now telling the Doctor she is pregnant. Did you also catch that River has the same upset stomach? Hmmmm

I think that the Doctor did die when he was shot in the Impossible Astronaut. The reason the Doctor survived the Dalek death beam in “The Big Bang” is because Time Lords are more durable than human and the Dalek was weakened. The Doctor also reversed time and rebooted the universe. In the Impossible Astronaut, the Doctor was shot before he fully regenerated. His past self could still continue travelling for the series as he is 200 years younger than when he was shot. Time could also be rewritten or unwritten so the Doctor getting shot might/could never have happened. There are tons of other possibilities as well. I think he does die and his past version will continue travelling for the duration of the show. This idea is flawed in that he would not be able to regenerate. Skilled Time Lords also have partial control over their regenerations so the Doctor may be able to turn back into his eleventh form if he ever will regenerate into his twelfth for.

Anything is possible in Doctor Who. I have always wanted to see a darker storyline so I am looking forward to the rest of this season.

I thought that the doctor who episode was really good, confusing at first but then I grasped what was going on, the only thing I didn’t get was, why did amy scream when she shot the astronaut. Can anybody tell me?

This episode was just ‘meh’. I don’t particularly like Stephen Moffatt’s episodes (he should go back to writing so-so sitcoms) and I’m having a hard time warming to Matt Smith. And for god’s sake get rid of River blimmin’ Song. She adds nothing and is too smug for her own good.

Ecclestone was good, Tennant was better, Smith doesn’t come close. I’m enjoying the repeats of Tennant’s episodes on digital TV better than the new Doctor’s stories. In fact I’ve taken to watching ‘classic’ Who lately – Tom Baker & Peter Davison FTW

I think the Silence are a great new monster. Can’t wait to see how their story develops in the next episode and probably through the whole series.

River can’t be the astronaut, looking at the trailer for next time. But it was a big shock that the doctor ‘died’, AND that Amelia Pond is Pregnant!

Very confusing at first, then i got it. The Silence are very scary. One second you know they are there, the next, you have forgot!

Looking at the clip, I THINK the ood are returning in ep2 and amy said “wait till you see what’s coming for you now!” Though she might be talking about someone or something else. 😕 ❓ ❓ ❓

Anyone else think the little girl in the spacesuit could be Amy’s Daughter about 10 years old? That would make sense to me as at the beginning there was a few years between the Doctor’s timeline?

Moffat is a genius, and is sure to have many tricks up his sleeves yet. Obviously he isn’t going to just leave it with the Doctor dying in his 11th form, but his twists, and understanding that with time travellers things do not always have to work in a straight line, are what I love about a good episode of Doctor Who.

The Moffat and Smith combo makes me truly happy
