    Ugh, where shall I begin?

Simple, interesting but disapointing. I mean, it’s Smith’s final adventure, and all they do is get him to defend a town for 300 years. I really do someone agrees that the Cybermen and the Weeping Angels were pointless. Once scene for the Angels and one scene for the Cybermen plus a very tiny space in a scene.

Finally we know what’s behind the Doctor’s hotel room! Did NOT expect the time crack at all! And I would have never known it would return, never actually considered it.

Amy’s special appearance! ๐Ÿ™ Oh my god, it made me want to cry (but of course, I didn’t). Even thoug her wig looked terrible, she just HAD to return for that. Really hope something like that happens again, not only for Amy, but also for other companions.

Lastly, we have Mr Capaldi. Yes yes, we all never like the new Doctor, but we can always tell whether they will be good or not. Even though I dearly missed Tennant, I could tell Smith was not going to be so bad after all. But Capaldi’s intro? Dear me, bad impressions. First of all, while watching Smith’s final scene wasn’t the best place to blink at (Hey, is that a hand in the snow? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Blink and you’ll miss it, because then I realise I was staring at Capaldi. I thought I was hallucinating. But no, that’s not what I am complaining about. I am very excited to see the dark side of the Doctor, but I felt as if he tried to be humorous but failed.

Overall, the episode wasn’t to bad but I think I need to watch it again! 7/10 ๐Ÿ™‚

Agree, needs a re-watch and just hope Capaldi is good and the writing. Apparently the writers for series 7 part 2 are coming back, oh dear! Now there’s trouble! Congratulations Peter Capaldi, your the Doctor! Good luck, Peter Capaldi, your gonna need it. Why? Because the writers from series 7 part 2 are coming back! Hurray! Capaldi’s Doctor doesn’t stand a chance. No wonder Matt Smith, the greatest Doctor to have ever been born from a glowing light called Regeneration!

You do realize Mark Gatiss has been writing for Doctor Who since Series 1? I have to say I am glad if that means Neil Cross and Neil Gaiman will be writing more for Doctor Who, but I’d rather not see any more of Stephen Thompson’s writing. I do hope Chris Chibnal and Toby Whithouse from Series 7A will also be writing for it, too.

Dalek supreme, Mark Gatiss did good in series one but has slowly got worse. Neil cross, both bad episodes, Neil Gaiman, one ok-ish one and one really rubbish one, stephen thompson, please don’t ever come back, just stick to Sherlock, your good at that, at least, Chris Chibnall, good, apart from the power of three. toby whithouse, good in series 2, rubbish in 5 and 6, surprisingly really good in 7.

I didn’t cry even though I was expecting to cry, and I did have that horrible feeling in my throat, but when Peter came in I just laughed, I think he’ll be brilliant, excellent charisma in my opinion.

Although I would’ve thought the paradigm Daleks would have made an appearance, seeing as they are Matt’s Daleks.

This was a pleasant episode with some well written emotional parts,in some ways as good as the 50th……….It’s time you gave us oldies a chance…Peter will do fine and Matt was great as an oldie too .

It was good, not incredible, just good. Some of the story dragged on a little bit too much for my liking, and the regeneration was played up a lot, especially as the actual regeneration was a slight anticlimax for me because it was so short, it was literally a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment.
But don’t boo me yet, I still cried in front of my family when Amy turned up!

Well most of the episode lost me but full marks on the acting. Being an old timer I prefer the regeneration stories when it’s not planted so early on that he’s going to die – look how effective Caves of Androzani is when the Doctor has seemingly got a cure, then doesn’t and quickly changes. Capaldi I think will be great but he’ll only be as good as the stories, and I think a return to basics works better for me – don’t remember the Tennant era even being so complicated. Merry Christmas

Regards Peter Capaldi, all the actors who have played The Doctor are supposed to reveal a different aspect of his personality, and if you think back (and saw the excellent documentary a month or two ago) each actor has chosen to do something different. The character is bigger than the individuals. Peter was chosen for a reason which will probably become clear as the story unfolds.

I actually enjoyed it for once. Had a tear in my eye in a couple of places & had a lot of questions answered. A lot was going on in the background as well & I kept pressing Rewind then realised it was going out live. Hurry up Season 8 Boxset…

Loved the episode, a nice farewell, give Peter Capaldi a chance, he was only on screen for a brief time and should at least be given a full episode before he is judged. And at least we know that the memory loss is temporary as we saw him fly the tardis in the 50th anniversary episode. The regeneration was different this time but what do you expect? It is a get out of jail card for the Doctor so was bound to be different (look at the various ways the Master has managed to stay alive). Can’t wait for the new series to begin.

I noticed one comment which was that we’ll have to wait until August/September for the series….really? Ah well…wondered why there was no preview of the new series, I suppose it’s not been filmed yet!

    ๐Ÿ˜€
I also thought that it was the best send off for his Doctor, and I liked the irony of how the ‘youngest’ Doctor died of old age! ๐Ÿ™‚
the ep tied up all Matt Smiths’ loose ends in clever and connected ways, and people just need to give Pete a chance, he only said one line! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Absolutely brilliant episode. To all those who have commented on Peter being bad, give the man a chance as he was only on screen for a brief time. We know he remembers how to fly the tardis as as we all saw him do it in the 50th anniversary, as for the regeneration, it wasn’t going to be a standard one as he got this as an extra, my question is, was this just the one or a whole new set of 12?

I was actually quite disappointed with this episode. I mean i thought the plot was brilliant excpet for the fact that the doctor got old. I wanted more action and more of our doctor but i was happy enough with the regeneration except it happened so quickly! I blinked (haha probably shouldn’t have done that, what with weeping angels all over the place ;)) and the next thing i knew, i was looking at Peter Capaldi! And what was he going on about with his kidneys?! Anyway, i’m really glad Amy made an appearance and i’m happy Clara was there with him as well. But hey, i just hope Peter Capaldi will be another fantastic doctor because he’s the last one isn’t he? Depressing or what?

I have recently returned to the DW fold, fallen in love with Amy, River and Clara, like Matt a lot, loved series 5 and 6, but by Gallifrey that DOTD was tosh, and so is this TOTD. It is all just for the uber-fans, us part-timers will need our confidence restored again!

    • JJ

      December 26th, 2013 - 3:43pm

Agree Half-a-Whovian, although I don’t like Clara, she’s too unrealistic (at first), she’s not as bad now, but worst start to a companion EVER! Although I do like the actress, Jenna Coleman, like I mean, who couldn’t. But The Day Of The Doctor and The Time Of The Doctor were absolutely rubbish!

If there was one word to sum up tonight’s episode, I think it would be marmite!

Some seemed to love it, and others hated it.

The opinion on Capaldi seems to be the same, but I don’t think we can really give a proper view until he’s had a full episode.
