September 26th, 2015 - 10:46pmthat was great…..peter capaldi’s and Julian bleach’s acting was amazing. the story was very well played out and it really got to me when we saw Davros opened his eyes and cried . Missy was amazing as ever. dont really like the sun glasses though (bit stupid)

September 26th, 2015 - 10:34pmI liked the story overall but…how is the ending possible? If he saves Davros from being blow up doesn’t that mean that the Davros that we know doesn’t exists….or are they using “well maybe he just got blown up later and that’s why hes deformed” as an excuse.
the astronaut of death
September 26th, 2015 - 10:36pmwhat other excuse is there? of course it happens to him later on in his life….
DOCTOR WHO ONE
September 27th, 2015 - 7:49amChooky1441 – Davros’s accident happens to him in ‘I,Davros – Part 3 – Corruption’ when his around 30 something years old.

September 26th, 2015 - 10:18pmSeeing Davros lying on the floor reminded me of The Borg Queen from star trek first contact!!!

September 26th, 2015 - 10:39pmMe too, the thing that occurred to me was the notion of it being a little too much for younger ones.
The Moffat Paradox
September 27th, 2015 - 12:54amYes it’s VERY reminscient.
CG
September 27th, 2015 - 2:06amYes I think that really showed us how vulnerable he is.

September 26th, 2015 - 10:14pmBrilliant story to start off series 9′ I think missy had most of the best lines but for me, the best scene was the doctor appearing in Davros’s chair and asking the daleks if they want to play at Dodgems!!! Hilarious.
A well written story with plenty of humour, drama, flashbacks to the previous doctors, and great performances from the leading characters. My whole family is looking forward to the rest of the series. 🙂
the astronaut of death
September 26th, 2015 - 10:00pmloved the final scene of the doctor andyoung davros walking off into fog

September 26th, 2015 - 9:46pmNoticed that Missy again said that she gave Clara to The Doctor; the curiosity values are growing more and more.

September 26th, 2015 - 9:41pmAm i the only one who had memories of asylum of the daleks? I am not a Dalek, i am Clara. Good echo of Oswin Oswald
CG
September 27th, 2015 - 2:07amYes I thought that too. Wasn’t too bad with Clara though.
The Living Shadow
September 26th, 2015 - 9:27pmVery nice episode! Was not what I expected for many reasons, (too many to list!) but I love surprises, especially when it comes to Doctor Who!
I loved all the performances; Capaldi as the Doctor was great; Gomez as Missy was mad, and rightly so; Clara was portrayed well by Coleman. The best role though, was Davros. Julian Bleach was stunning in this story and it’s fair to say that (sorry missy), Davros is the most horrible villain in Who! He’s essentially a Dalek, who can cleverly taunt the Doctor on a more personal level, and that idea was conveyed perfectly in this episode.
Overall, I liked the storyline of both parts of this series opener, it was a lot more character based than I had expected; we saw an interest of dynamic between the Doctor and Davros, meanwhile Missy and Clara have a very uneasy, but even quite humorous, bond. Would’ve liked to have seen more of “Snake Nest in a dress” in part two though!
The Moffat Paradox
September 26th, 2015 - 9:19pmWell thankfully this isnt just the killing off of Davros but thought the otherwise billed would be debate between him and the Doctor being resolved when his enticing him to Skaro was just a ploy all along to rejuvenate and reinvigourate himself and his creations was a bit of a cop out.
Still good though and maybe with or without Davros that’s Missy going to be in league with the Daleks possibly as soon as the season finale.

September 26th, 2015 - 9:13pmHas anyone else noticed that the ‘only other chair on Skaro’ is the same chair as the one from ‘The curse of fatal death’ ?
The Living Shadow
September 26th, 2015 - 9:25pmIs it? I’ll have to go back and look at that! That’s brilliant!

So many amazing scenes with Davros. Seeing him open his eyes which we didn’t think he had (I’m not afraid to admit I shed a tear when he looked at the doctor and began weeping). Actually seeing him out of his chair! That damaged arm and torso…just incredible! And then of course good old Davros was just having us on 🙂
Capaldi, Coleman and Gomez on top form. I really do love missy now.
Great story line, great acting and so much non stop action and excitement. Well done moffat!

September 26th, 2015 - 8:55pmSonic shades ? not liking that one really.
Luke
September 26th, 2015 - 8:57pmThat’s the only part I did not like.

September 26th, 2015 - 9:59pmYeah. I’m not sure about them either. However, Missy had, essentially, a smart phone device so it’s not entirely surprising the Doctor would try to go one better. It might be a phase he will get over.

September 26th, 2015 - 10:38pmHow does he open a door with sunnies? Or interact with other tech? With a glance? I can’t imagine that’ll make a good visual compared to the motion, light & sound of the screwdriver.
Obsie
September 26th, 2015 - 10:41pmWell luckily sonic cane disappeared as quick as it came.

September 26th, 2015 - 10:44pmI love the tech on doctor who but getting rid of the sonic screwdriver for sonic shades, nah your alright thanks
When The Doctor Was Me
September 26th, 2015 - 8:52pmFor me its the best Dalek story since Bad Wolf/The Parting Of The Ways! I have to admit I found TMA to be just ok. But this completely chances the cards. I made pretty much any issue i had with part 1 redundent.
I loved every performace. But the episode was well a truly owned by Julien Bleech. He has such presence. The scene where he opened his eyes was incredible. I began to question what Moffat was doing, but it went the way it should and he made Davros evil again. I really can’t wait to see if Davros returns this series or next.
Michelle Gomez as Missy was another highlight. In Dark Water/Death in Heaven she had no time to shine and play with the character, she needed to be the mystery, which just made her presence almost unknown. Here we saw her at her best, the mad timelady! And she was just a joy to watch, you can tell she just loves playing the part.
Capaldi was as ever brilliant and he really has taken on the role so well. Jenna’s performace was great too, although limited. I just wish she had more to do. Overall the Daleks were menacing and a delight to watch.
The effects where great and I really loved the Skaro shots.
My only real issue was once more, the miss use of the Classic design Daleks. They seem to only be there for a visual delight and fan serivice, rather than having any purpose to the story. I mean why would Skaro Daleks still have that casing when they have a much more robust and stealthy armour in the Bronze design. But other than that I enjoyed pretty much everything.
I would rate the story (parts 1 and 2) overall a 8/10.
Flawless performaces and a strong opening to the series. I already feel much more hyped for the series. As, as a whole, i found series 8 a very repetitive and underwhelming.
Can’t wait for next week!
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
September 26th, 2015 - 8:52pmMmmm. I didn’t find it that epic. I thought the resolution of weak, half dead Daleks beating pristine healthy Daleks wasn’t very believable. I think there was too much to-ing and fro-ing. Davros was emotional, LYING! The Doctor didn’t know Davros wanted his regeneration energy LYING! I thought that would be the crux of the story, but it ended after that.
It turned out to be more of a character piece, which I wasn’t expecting. In the same minute the Doctor said The Doctor doesn’t exist, then he said he was the Doctor.
I liked Missy and Clara, but found the Doctor to be a bit annoying.
I don’t really get what the story was, and what the conclusion between Davros and the Doctor was meant to be. That didn’t really have one. AND, Davros got KICKED OUT OF HIS LIFE SUPPORT CHAIR! WHY DIDN’T HE DIE THEN?!
HOWEVER, it was visually impressive, it did have good character moments and Clara in the Dalek was a fantastic idea.
When The Doctor Was Me
September 26th, 2015 - 9:15pmIt wasn’t the chair keeping Davros alive, it was the cabled chamber he was sitting that did.
Thesuperwhovian
September 26th, 2015 - 8:52pmI think its safe to say Davros is the meanest doctor who character trying to manipulate the doctor like that
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 26th, 2015 - 8:50pmWait…how did Davros not see the massive flaw in his own plan? I mean, he is a genius. He really should have seen that. Apart from that, brilliant!

September 26th, 2015 - 10:23pmDavros’s greatest enemy is his ego.

September 26th, 2015 - 10:47pmBesides which “geniuses” in these things become totally deranged and delusional with their grandiose notions in their megalomania.

September 26th, 2015 - 8:42pmGreat start to the new series ..really enjoyed these two episodes.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 26th, 2015 - 8:41pmGreat episode! Davros being manipulative as usual, the Doctor being even more manipulative as usual, the Daleks being Daleks, great humour too…it was, to quote the 9th Doctor (10th including War Doctor), fantastic! 🙂
The Surgeon
September 26th, 2015 - 8:39pmI had mixed feelings, but that was expected.
Also, am I the only one who genuinely didn’t know Davros had eyes?
Obsie
September 26th, 2015 - 8:52pmNo you weren’t, I just considered that after centuries the material making them up had dissolved or something. Although with hindsight (Target novel) I think it did say he had shrunken eye sockets or similar. So the central eye must have been still linked to his optic nerves in someway ; sci-fi, doh !!!! love it.

September 26th, 2015 - 8:59pmNo-one did, because it was never mentioned before because the idea is stupid.

September 27th, 2015 - 10:22pmThe Master and The Doctor go back a long way. Clara is splintered throughout time, even popping up on Gallifrey a couple of times. Heaven knows what goes on in Stephen Moffat’s world, lol.
