What Did You Think of The Zygon Invasion?
Now that the highly anticipated seventh episode of series 9 has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
I knew Clara wasn’t Clara as soon as she left the flat. I enjoyed this episode that much it should be a series finale story instead of mid season and in my opinion this was the best episode in Capaldi’s era
Or the Doctor will summon the TARDIS as he did before at the end of the last series. Surely they wouldn’t use that again though ?

Finally! I waited for a good episode for 3 weeks and here it is. It was way better than the previous two which, in my opinion, were just a filler. I’m so glad to see proper villains. The story was engrossing and some funny moments were actually funny. I wasn’t really surprised by the fact that Clara was a Zygon but I liked the idea, anyway. I think the next episode will be even better.
Ikr. I had my suspicions of Clara being a zygon from the get-go because:
a) our quick-thinking Clara Oswald wouldn’t stand unsuspecting while watching a child being carried away screaming by his weird-behaving dad
AND
b) the first thing Clara would say upon returning the doctors 127 missed calls would not be “did you really call yourself doctor disco”
AND
c) Clara would be way more badass if she was trying to defeat some zygons
Olga
November 1st, 2015 - 5:07pm
AND
d) she was too emotionless. She acted as if she just met the Doctor and didn’t know him at all,
AND
e) she moved to quickly. One moment she was in the apartment and the next one with the Doctor.
I think there are even more points to be considered but the idea as such was really interesting. I can’t wait for the next episode.

How could they do a next time trailer, it wouldn’t be a cliffhanger if you saw that the Dr and Osgood are in next weeks episode. The whole point of the cliffhanger is to leave you wondering if they survive and to make sure you watch next week.

Very good episode, and a great sci-fi concept of current real world events. ‘The Zygon Invasion’ was a strong start to this two-parter, with a very strong cliff-hanger also. At present, my favourite story this series would still be ‘Magicians Apprentice’ and ‘Witch’s Familiar’. But I’d give the first episode of this Zygon two-parter 8 and a half out of ten.
I hope next week we see more of the actual orange blobby Zygons being villains and killing or destroying! Feel like we need to see more of these “deadly creatures” actually BEING deadly to really feel the deadliness! May sound like I’m complaining but these are only minor issues! Overall was really amazed by the episode!! Felt like the Doctor Who we all know and love!! Really impressed by this series so far! They’re doing a great job! Only episode that did not impress me was “Before the Flood”, kind of disappointing! Also, the scene in “Zygon Invasion” where the soldier was confronted with his mother and didn’t know to shoot her or not was SPECTACULAR!! Really tugged at my heart strings!! Though I do kind of think we needed to see the soldier either shoot his mother/Zygon and be shocked or else see his mother transform into the Zygon and attack the soldiers! Finally finished, had a lot to say!
Socked to turn into one yes, but to kill it in human form as his mother, big NO !

I’m going to be honest, even though the whole episode was about alien shape shifters who can turn into anyone, I really didn’t see the whole Zygon – Clara thing coming!! I know it must have seemed obvious for some, but I was genuinely shocked! Even gasped a bit! It’s good to get a proper shock from Doctor Who!!! Really great episode!! Fantastic! Top notch!
As the writer of this episode, Peter harness, did a quite terrible job in last years series 8 episode 7: kill the moon, I think he has redeemed himself by writing a genuinely good and thrilling episode. Let’s just hope he pulls through and makes an even better second part.

Brilliant, this is the Doctor Who I have been waiting all season for.
Do they REALLY have to explain every trivial detail…if so the show will have to be twice as long and would be full of mindless information
“Ooo, Clara I know you are wondering how on earth my coat was repaired…the last time you saw it, it had a rip…and now it doesn’t…and even though our priority is saving the universe, I know that the only thing you are going to comment on is how I repaired it even though it doesn’t really matter…and I am going to have to tell you because you cant come up with a explanation by yourself…so, late one night last week, I found a needle and thread and…..”

DOCTOR WHO ONE
November 1st, 2015 - 7:05am
Sure was not expecting Clara to be replaced by a Zygon duplicate near the end of the story, that was unexpected, and yes, I am familiar with the old saying “always expect the unexpected!”, but the truth is, no one ever does, cos it’s not like you have that old saying flashing constantly on and off in your head 24/7 😀
I knew they’d throw in some scenes from ‘The Day of the Doctor Who’ to set up a bit of back story, that was a nice touch 🙂
Now that’s more like it. After the last 2 awful episodes we return to splendour.
This episode had thrills, adventure, lots of deaths and that awesome cliff hanger with Clara/Bonnie firing a missile at the Dr’s plane (so glad it wasn’t cut out especially after the tragic plane crash in Egypt today like they did with the sheriff beheading in robots of sherwood because of unfortunate real events).
I loved the comedy too, it seemed to work better this week. The Dr saying he still wears question marks on his underpants made me lol.
I have a couple of questions though, why didn’t the Dr go in the Tardis to that other U.N.I.T base instead of flying in the plane? And lastly, did anyone notice what the Dr used to open Osgood’s handcuffs? It sounded like the sonic.
He likes to ponce about in a big plane! That´s why he didn´t take the TARDIS. I really like this Doctor being like that.
About the opening of the handcuffs, it sure did sound like the sonic, but don´t the sunglasses make the same sound? Or am I wrong about that?

Brilliant episode. I love how in this season it’s almost like you’re watching movies instead of a TV show. Great. It feels so good seeing the Zygons again and the little winks to the older Doctors by Osgood are fun. (‘I’m wearing questionmark underpants!’) I also really enjoy Peter’s Doctor finding it’s place more and more.
I almost feel bad knowing Jenna’s going to leave soon, as I loved her acting when they reveale her being a Zygon.

Loved it for the fact we see nasty Zygons again. Don’t like seeing our classic villains turned into goodies/zeroes or comedy fodder (Sontarans spring to mind here and The Master in current form) No …’coming next week’….maybe that’s the end of the Doctor after all 😉
It’s slightly more realistic to have some “villains” as exceptions to the species as in this story. Most of the Zygons want to live in peace but some are using incidents and frustrations to start a war. If one lumps together all people of a group on the basis of the actions of a few this world is in trouble.
With only small exceptions some enemies on this show can’t be “good” (Daleks & Cybermen for example) so showing the ordinary, non-violent side of an enemy is a good thing even if the story focuses on the bad element of the Zygons. A very relevant story.

Anyone else noticed that if you count Girl/Woman as a 2-parter, Under the Lake is the only part one so far not to feature flashbacks of David Tennant, and also the only 2 parter not to mention a hybrid?
Magician had Stolen Earth/Journeys End scenes briefly playing in Davros’ lair and the Dalek/Time Lord hybrid; Girl had Pompeii flashbacks and Ashildr referred to as a hybrid; Zygon Invasion had Day of the Doctor flashbacks and Osgood referred to as a hybrid.
Very strong episode, and paralleled quite unsubtly (and why should it not) the grave concerns that we have in the world today, with ISIS, military intervention, refugees, paranoia of our “enemies” hiding among us, Ukraine, et al, plus a historical reference to the Ho-Chi Minh trail (using tunnels to escape) too. The President Nixon pose was not lost on me either. Good use of the Zygons and the back-story to really bring out today’s issue’s in Doctor Who format. I appreciated the mature themes, and look forward the next episode with high hopes.
I also like it when doctor who lives up to its age “rating 12” themes cuz I feel that people don’t take it seriously enough. This was a good example of how riveting and relatable the show can be. Although, since when have the zygons had electricity powers. In the 50th special I was always confused as to what their actual threat was. It would’ve been good for us to find out these critters could shoot lightning bolts two years ago.
That was a very good episode. I hope the episode next week lives up to it. It would be nice to have some more screen time for the Zygons though. I’ll give it 8.5/10.
It took a long time start but it is a two parter, It was a strong episode and I thought deffently in the top 5. I’m still debating if it gets fourth place. II couldn’t believe that clafa was a zygon, I thought the other women was. I loved the transformation of the two young girls, I felt sorry for the little boy. I dont think Kate Stewart is dead, just unconscious. Like they said in the episode they have got to learn alot about them. I think the plain Clara shot at could if been the wrong plane. The reference to day of the doctor was awesome. I think I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

BUT!
WHY COULDN’T WE WATCH THE ZYGON’S TRANSFORM?! THEY LOOK GREAT WHEN THEY DO THAT! Also, there was a serious lack of Zygon’s being villainous, and their orange form hardly got any screen time, just like TDOTD MAJOR FLAW!
That really annoyed me
Also, I’ve got bored of these cliffhangers as they are so predictable. Also Kate didn’t do a lot.
Coleman went totally badass though and it was cool
Yeah, but not like when Kate did in TDOTD that was fantastic and much more scary

October 31st, 2015 - 11:03pmLoved it for the fact we see nasty Zygons again. Don’t like seeing our classic villains turned into goodies/zeroes or comedy fodder (Sontarans spring to mind here and The Master in current form) No …’coming next week’….maybe that’s the end of the Doctor after all 😉

November 1st, 2015 - 7:27amIt’s slightly more realistic to have some “villains” as exceptions to the species as in this story.

October 31st, 2015 - 10:55pmAnyone else noticed that if you count Girl/Woman as a 2-parter, Under the Lake is the only part one so far not to feature flashbacks of David Tennant, and also the only 2 parter not to mention a hybrid?
Magician had Stolen Earth/Journeys End scenes briefly playing in Davros’ lair and the Dalek/Time Lord hybrid; Girl had Pompeii flashbacks and Ashildr referred to as a hybrid; Zygon Invasion had Day of the Doctor flashbacks and Osgood referred to as a hybrid.

October 31st, 2015 - 10:24pmVery strong episode, and paralleled quite unsubtly (and why should it not) the grave concerns that we have in the world today, with ISIS, military intervention, refugees, paranoia of our “enemies” hiding among us, Ukraine, et al, plus a historical reference to the Ho-Chi Minh trail (using tunnels to escape) too. The President Nixon pose was not lost on me either. Good use of the Zygons and the back-story to really bring out today’s issue’s in Doctor Who format. I appreciated the mature themes, and look forward the next episode with high hopes.

November 1st, 2015 - 3:55pmI also like it when doctor who lives up to its age “rating 12” themes cuz I feel that people don’t take it seriously enough. This was a good example of how riveting and relatable the show can be. Although, since when have the zygons had electricity powers. In the 50th special I was always confused as to what their actual threat was. It would’ve been good for us to find out these critters could shoot lightning bolts two years ago.
The Silent Silent
October 31st, 2015 - 10:08pmGOOD EPISODE !

October 31st, 2015 - 9:25pmYesssss I loved it!!!!!!!
What a cliffhanger though.
Can’t wait for part two!!!!
The Temporal Jelly Baby
October 31st, 2015 - 9:14pmThat was a very good episode. I hope the episode next week lives up to it. It would be nice to have some more screen time for the Zygons though. I’ll give it 8.5/10.
The eternal doctor
October 31st, 2015 - 9:13pmIt took a long time start but it is a two parter, It was a strong episode and I thought deffently in the top 5.
Magicians apprentice
Before the flood
Witches familiar
Zygon invasion
Under the lake
The women who loved
The girl who died

October 31st, 2015 - 11:16pmWow! ‘The women who loved’ – what a great sounding episode! When did I miss that one?

RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
October 31st, 2015 - 9:09pmPretty good! Very enjoyable, visually impressive and some great moments.
Solid 8 for the references and fresh themes
The eternal doctor
October 31st, 2015 - 9:14pmYou did see them transform, the two school girls.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
October 31st, 2015 - 10:08pmYeah, but not like when Kate did in TDOTD that was fantastic and much more scary
The eternal doctor
October 31st, 2015 - 11:29pmI guess so but it would be a bit boring if it got repetitive

November 1st, 2015 - 11:42amIt think it also helped to save on the budget – allowing us to have those awesome scenes in war-torn New Mexico!

October 31st, 2015 - 9:09pmVery enjoyable in parts, worked out when Clara was duplicated right away and never trusted the Sherriff from the start. Surprised to see a painting of the 1st Doctor though. How did anyone know of him back in ’63 ?

October 31st, 2015 - 9:22pmMaybe Ian and Barbara mentioned the doctor at some point.

October 31st, 2015 - 9:06pmI agree, it felt like a pre-title sequence all the time, didn’t really get started, but the last part and he cliffhanger were brilliant
