It depends on your age but not every parent would be fine about their children watching this.

I thought ep. 1 was great, but is it just me, or does anyone else think that Gwen’s daughter is going to grow up to be very violent or possibly even worse, with her mummy and daddy having a cupboard FULL of guns and treatening to shoot anyone that comes knocking on their door.
Still a great episode (I haven’t seen much Torchwood before) but I can’t help think it’s quite bad parenting.
    Just saying.

for me it was ok, when is part 2 on?? i expected a bit more action the helicopter chase was it.

a fantastic episode with some amazing effects, but overall, it is way too American. like the helicopter chase-if it was still british, that wouldn’t have happened. also, the blood was a lot less convincing than usual. american blood is cheaper that british blood, it would seem and if that man had been at the heart of the explosion, wouldn’t there have been bits of him scattered all over?
but apart from that long list of whining, a brilliant first episode

i agree-it really wasn’t very scary. torchwood appears to leave out scariness for gore. very American. i hope it gets better as time goes on.

maybe it would if they did it in the peter davison format, with two episodes airing per week, like saturday and sunday or friday and sunday.

Oh All Right, I Didn’t Know If It Was Going To Be Like The Old Series, Or Children Of Earth.

Nothing really – just found it a little incomprehensible at times compared to previous series, and that took the shine off it for me…

Whereas CJH and friends came back with a bang and an intriguing story…

    Perhaps it’s just me 😉

A fairly good opening episode. I will reserve judgement until I have seen a few more in the coming weeks. Pleased to hear a few references to past stories and characters.
I say give the series a chance, dont just judge by the initial story. 7 out of 10

thught children of earth was good 🙂 but bcoz this is set in USA it’s even better. P.S. Mekhi phifer is a great addition to the cast 🙂

sorry, agree with redtop. Torchwood was original Brit sci-fi, with a good dose of quirky Welsh humour & familiar locations, not this Americanised season offered up on Thursday. Wish all involved the best but if it continues in similar style Torchwood ended for me with Children Of Earth.

It was a good opening episode and an interesting start to the series, certainly bigger than it was, hopefully hasn’t lost it’s charm from the original series.

    no it shouldn’t
th lack of stories will just show a lack of imagination from the writers
it will get boring and also annoying to have to keep remembering something that happened 3 weeks ago-plus children won’t be able to follow it
it will be less stories just the same one forever
it won’t be able to keep up with the high pace of 21st century TV
i like the old episodes but the formats won’t work now

Jack Harkness finally has a chance of his lifetime, to die. 😯 He should take it, even though his planet is in so much toruble, he should think of it as an oppurtunity to not exist forever, IMO.
