June 24th, 2017 - 10:39pmThat was a great episode !!
Weight, gravity, drama – excellent and not dumbed down or blighted with woefully bad – cringing “comic relief” or the general buffoonery of the Matt Smith Era.
John Simm’s Master was well used, and Bill becoming a Cyberman was brilliant and very well played out – I hope it is not spoiled with a”reset button” or some other Moffat infeasible plot.
Capaldi, as always, was 1st Class !!
I also appreciated the science with the interpretation of the Theory of Special Relativity. Very coool !
Looking forward very much to the next episode – please don’t mess it up……!!

June 25th, 2017 - 1:17amI disagree, just one last “reset” to bring the human version of Bill back and for her to stay with the Doctor (& hopefully Nardole) into the 2017 xmas special and then for them to see the Doctor regenerate.
Best surpise would be that both Bill and Nardole travel with the Thirteenth Doctor in series 11 in 2018.

June 25th, 2017 - 10:38amNardole is terrible – on every level.
Bringing another companion back with the “reset button” just cheapens the whole thing. The whole Clara angle was awful, and an embarrassing watch – turning the whole show in to a farce.
Let’s just have a dramatic moment that stays – and that way, every time there is a threat – that threat remains real – as we wont have that “reset button” tucked away to save the day, because if it keeps being used, it will eliminate all threats and drama from the show permanently..
Bill should remain a cyberman !

June 24th, 2017 - 10:13pmVery good first half of the finale just as Heaven Sent was last season, so the question is will next weeks episode implode and become the dreadful mess Hell Bent turned out to be?
Hopefully Bill is not given the infamous Moffat reset button treatment because her reveal as a Cyberman was awesome! It would be great if she kills Missy and attempts to kill the Doctor also causing him to regenerate.

June 24th, 2017 - 10:47pmI think that is a worry for many of us. Like you, I was extremely underwhelmed by ‘Hell Bent’, especially after the superb ‘Heaven Sent’. I sincerely hope the same doesn’t happen again. We basically had a reset button with Clara coming back from the brink in ‘Hell Bent’. I don’t want another reset button in ‘The Doctor Falls’, even though I’m convinced there inevitably will be!

June 24th, 2017 - 10:53pmIt’s a good job Moffat wasn’t writing Doctor Who in Peter Davison’s first series. Otherwise Adric would have survived the crash into pre-historic Earth.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 24th, 2017 - 11:01pmI also hope there won’t be another reset button in The Doctor Falls. At the very least, if there is, let’s at least have it making sense! In other words, not just the classic “emotions win” type thing.
I am very nervous about The Doctor Falls after this. Will the presence of the more modern Cybermen models make sense and work in the plot? Will Bill’s conversion just be undone with a Moffat-style reset button?
In both series 8 and series 9 (especially 9), the penultimate episode was better than the final episode. Just this once, come on, let ‘The Doctor Falls’ be awesome!

June 24th, 2017 - 10:13pmMy only worry is that so much will have to be crammed into next weeks episode and that the whole Master/Missy thing will be drowned out by cybermen and what ever is going to happen to the Doctor! Bear with me now, but I think I would have preferred if the Master was revealed earlier in this episode and the Doctor learns of his scheme/plot early and that the episode ends with the doctor totally helpless so that the real action and plan doesn’t have to start next week, but only continue!! I would have loved if The Doctor Falls was 75 mins as I think that would have been enough to get through everything! I just hope it doesn’t feel rushed, cramped and bogged down with everything going on!! All this isn’t to say that I didn’t LOVE tonight’s, I did!! I’m just worried for next week! Also, I thought the regeneration effects looked quite poor compared to the Lie of the Land where they looked really good! Here’s hoping they can polish them up between now and Christmas!

June 24th, 2017 - 10:09pmWow… That was REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s not often I say this but,
BRAVO, MR. MOFFAT!!!!
JasonisnotaRobot
June 24th, 2017 - 9:36pmAmazing episode, possibly best in the series, but what would have made it even better is if the master and the Cybermen weren’t confirmed for it. Imagine how amazing their reveals would have been if we didn’t see them coming!
JasonisnotaRobot
June 24th, 2017 - 9:41pmAlso I love how “Doctor Who is his real name” is kind of a middle finger to the people who kick up a fuss when people call him Doctor Who

June 24th, 2017 - 9:42pmYep…brilliant

June 24th, 2017 - 10:23pmYeah totally agree with the point you make here!

June 24th, 2017 - 10:30pmWell, he supposedly signed his name as “Dr. W” in “The Underwater Menace” (yes I know half of it’s missing, and I am going off of the narration on the CD, BUT…) it’s an interesting idea that I love to bits!!!! What else can that W stand for!!! 🙂
Also WOTAN said “Doctor Who is required”. Note that it also knew what TARDIS stands for.
(I’M REALLY EXCITED, SO MANY IDEAS AND THEORIES!!!!)

June 24th, 2017 - 9:29pmWhat about bill… Will the doctor be able to reverse it?

June 24th, 2017 - 10:16pmHopefully not, it will demean a great story otherwise.

June 25th, 2017 - 12:07amIts supposed to be, but try telling that to moffat (craig owens, angie, artie and the doctor as ‘mr clever’)

June 25th, 2017 - 12:08amI know he didnt write cloaing time or nightmare in silver, but he still had to green light the fact that conversion is suddenly not as final as it was always supposed to be.

June 24th, 2017 - 9:24pmFantastic episode 10/10. Easily the best episode of series 10 so far. Although I agree with previous posts, that the surprise return of the Master wasn’t the surprise it was meant to be. Plus we knew well in advance that the Mondasian Cybermen were in the finale. So the build up in the hospital was predictable as to where it was going. However, great acting throughout, truly chilling scenes, and WHAT a cliffhanger, one of the all time greats. My only concern is that the second act of this two or three part adventure (if we include the Christmas Special), won’t quite live up to expectations. The bar has already been set very high with ‘World Enough and Time’, I’m not sure it can be set any higher. Hopefully Moffat can surprise me and deliver the goods.

June 24th, 2017 - 9:15pmHaven’t visited this site in ages, but felt I had to just to say how amazing this episode was!
Only thing disappointing was the lack of blood in the operating theatre (thought that would make it scarier) and the cyberman stomped.
Also I had no idea the geezer hanging around with Bill was the master, I was expecting him to be one of the patients

June 24th, 2017 - 9:15pmBest episode I have ever seen since I first started watching DW back in 78.
Yes, it is a shame none of this was a suprise but I blame irresponsible social media…it forces the BBCs hand into official spoilers. Nothing can be kept secret these days. Even Disney cant stop Staw Wars leaks now. However, its just shows how good the episode was when it was so brilliant even when we knew what was coming…well done Moff!
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 24th, 2017 - 9:00pmVery good! I’m going with 9/10. The ONLY reason it’s not a 10/10 is because the big reveals were of course spoiled in advance so most of the episode was basically a build-up to 2 things we all already knew about. However, it was a seriously good build-up. Tense throughout.
Mr. J
June 24th, 2017 - 8:54pmI loved that! It’s just disappointing that NONE of it was kept secret or a surprise! Still a brilliant piece of Doctor Who to watch!!

June 24th, 2017 - 9:07pmI agree to be honest, great episode but i was waiting for something to happen we didn’t know or had been hinted at already
Jordan Scott
June 24th, 2017 - 10:25pmYeah it would have been 10X more exciting if we didn’t know about the Mondasians, The Master etc.

June 24th, 2017 - 8:48pmGreat episode, didn’t see that coming! Classic who with scary cybermen, love it…

June 24th, 2017 - 8:45pmAbsolutely brilliant episode, everything I could possibly have hoped it would be! Cannot wait until next week but don’t want it to end at the same time! 🙁

June 24th, 2017 - 8:08pmThe Mondasian Cybermen have got to be the most scariest thing in the series. I feltso sad that Bill got upgraded after waiting so very, very long for the Doctor to come and rescue her.
When that Razor guy spoke, i thought i recognised his voice, but couldnt who it reminded me of.
Also, where was the scene of the Master/Missy dancing?

June 24th, 2017 - 8:09pmThat scene will most likely be next week

June 24th, 2017 - 7:58pmDid anyone recognise the musical motif of the master as heard years ago? That was excellent , kept me glued to the screen , next weeks look dramatic !

June 24th, 2017 - 8:39pmYes I loved hearing it, you know stuff is gonna go down when you hear that! 😉

June 24th, 2017 - 7:54pmI was on the edge of my seat with tonight’s episode. Fantastic as the 9 th would say. Can not wait for next week’s finale.

June 24th, 2017 - 7:54pmLoved every minute of it.
Graham
June 24th, 2017 - 7:46pmAbsolutely loved it best episode since the 50th anniversary episode good to see that the 12th doctor will be going out in style if next week and the Christmas special can continue the quality of story telling that for me has been lacking in recent times, fingers crossed
Dan23
June 24th, 2017 - 7:57pmI heard that the actor who played William hartnell’s doctor in the 50th anniversary drama about how the show was made will be in the Christmas episode?
Mark Belsom
June 24th, 2017 - 8:04pmThere was a video on YouTube showing costumes for series ten amongst them was the Hartnell outfit.
Jordan Scott
June 24th, 2017 - 8:41pmWow, what’s this video called?
Graham
June 24th, 2017 - 8:52pmYes David Bradley wad brilliant playing William Hartnell in ‘an adventure in space and time’ so would be great if he returns as the 1st Doctor and as pre-credit sequence showdown Capaldi regenerating in the snow which could link to the 1st Doctors regeneration in the Tenth Planet which was set at the south pole and features the mondosian cybermen would bring the series full circle
Mark Belsom
June 24th, 2017 - 9:06pmThe video was just a fan filming at a press release or something. Definitely showed the first doctors outfit.
Mark Belsom
June 24th, 2017 - 7:41pmBrilliant episode, very dark but loved every minute. The Mondasian Cybermen are quite scary, back to how they should be and Sims Master is a lot better than last time. Reminded me a lot of Roger Delgado. Can’t wait for next week.
Dan23
June 24th, 2017 - 7:40pmSo I been saying that bill Potts is the first ever fully upgraded Cybermen?
Dan23
June 24th, 2017 - 7:41pmMy comment got auto corrected I meant to say are they saying bill is the first ever fully upgraded Cybermen
The Dalek Whovian
June 24th, 2017 - 8:11pmIt’s complicated if you consider Spare Parts canon. She could be the first off Mondas fully upgraded Cybermen

June 24th, 2017 - 7:37pmBest.episode.ever ! Hands up who guessed the old guy was John Simms in disguise. I really, really didn’t have a clue until he confronted Missy then it suddenly hit me like a train. I only hope next weeks finale can keep up the pace !

June 24th, 2017 - 8:13pmOnly one man can conveniently have a mask of anyone, so I had a good feeling that it was the Master. It was nice nod to the classic series

June 24th, 2017 - 7:37pmThere is proof the regeneration won’t be as simple.
SPOILER WARNING
At the end of the pre titles he starts to regenerate in the snow, however at the end of the next time he is regenerating in a grassy field!!!
Doctordredd67
June 24th, 2017 - 7:59pmHe may be trying to hold back like Jon pertwee did . Also do we see missy regenerate as well , possibly?
Nigel M
June 24th, 2017 - 8:10pmRe possibility of Missy regenerating. Michelle Gomez has already said this is her last appearance. What if she dies next episode and regenerates into…Derek Jacobi ? That would explain how she doesn’t remember being on the ship before.
