No More Doctor Who Confidential: The Finale
Doctor Who Confidential: The Finale
From the BBC official site
For the past seven years, Doctor Who Confidential has put you at the heart of Doctor Who, providing a unique insight into the stars, the show and the entire production.
This journey reaches a fitting finale on Saturday when Doctor Who Confidential premiers a brand new mini-adventure starring Matt Smith as the Doctor. Viewers have seen the story, Death is the Only Answer, being made, watching the entire process from script to screen. Saturday’s episode, entitled When Time Froze, also includes the ultimate feature on River Song, with Alex Kingston providing a brilliant timeline of everyone’s favourite time travelling archaeologist.
The Confidential team captured the rebirth of the show back in 2005 and for over half a decade they have given an unsurpassed, access-all-areas insight not just into Doctor Who, but the magic and mechanics of making successful drama. From an episode directed by David Tennant, to the special edition that broke the news that Matt Smith would be the Eleventh Doctor, Doctor Who Confidential has always delivered the very best in must-see behind-the-scenes action.
The final episode of Doctor Who Confidential, When Time Froze, is on BBC Three on Saturday, immediately after The Wedding of River Song.

September 29th, 2011 - 5:15pmNo!!!! Don’t get rid of confidential. I HAVE to watch that to understand what’s going on in Doctor Who. Get rid of confidential and keep Steven Moffat and I’ll never know what’s happening 🙁

September 29th, 2011 - 4:39pmi also agree doctor who confidential is wayyyyy better
biggest doctor who fan
September 29th, 2011 - 4:28pmI’ve hoad it up to here with the moff
Since he took over ratings had gone down
Now a perfectly good spin off is being axed what is going on!
The storys this season have been too complicated and rubbish, I mean it’s just a matter of time now before they axe the show itself.
If only Russell.T.Davies was here nothing like this would be happening.

September 29th, 2011 - 9:54amReally bad news, I enjoyed confidential and always watched it after Doctor Who and now gone..
I get this awful feeling that the BBC are trying to kill off Doctor Who due to the cost, first all those rumours about not having a full next season and now confidential.
A shame as I’m a massive fan and Who is about the only thing I still watch BBC for.

September 28th, 2011 - 11:19pmIt’s terrible that there’s no more Doctor Who Confidential. We need spin-offs. No more Torchwood. No more Sarah Jane Adventures. And now no more Doctor Who Confidential. What is BBC thinking finale-ing this?

September 28th, 2011 - 11:15pmThe BBC have made a very stupid mistake here. BBC three need to axe the shows that NEED to be axed such as lee nelsons well good show, snog, marry, avoid, eastenders repeats etc etc etc. The only BBC three shows that I’ve seen which are good are russel howards good news and family guy oh and confidential of course. Please confidential come home for Christmas. But I won’t watch if they completely ruin the show like what happened with primeval this year.

September 28th, 2011 - 10:48pmThis is excellent news – Confidential over the last few years has lost the plot – sending Arthur to swim with sharks or Karen driving for example … what has that got to do with the show? Goodbye Confidential, it was overdue.

September 28th, 2011 - 10:03pmI think the pitiful last series of TW answered that…that guy aint ever coming back…thank goodness. He did his time, it was good to begin with but painful towards the end…lets not be ironic* and get caught in the past – move on 🙂
*Time Travel joke 😉

September 28th, 2011 - 9:58pmI read that they axed it because it was costing far too much to make. i say HOW?!?! it is only filming backstage of the BBC studios and interviewing some of the stars!!!One word … Pathetic!!!

September 28th, 2011 - 8:55pmAs much as i love DWC , EastEnders and Waterloo Road pull in alot of viewing figures for BBC especially Eastenders which roughly pulls in 7M viewers in the 7:30 And 8:00 slot, besides confidential isnt that much of a big show to be put on BBC 1 , i fear we wont get it back till 2013 for the 50th anniversary

Dark Side of the Moon
September 28th, 2011 - 8:29pmHere is the email address to Points of View – for those who don’t know, this is a programme, where the BBC aires the thoughts (both good and bad) of viewers.
This is effectively their on-air compaint dept.
If you do complain, please make it constructive…no swearing, no rants, no text speak abreviations and check your spelling before you hit send…we want them to take us serously…its not a forum, so think about what you say before you submit it.
Good luck.

September 28th, 2011 - 8:25pmI completely agree with Barry on this ! Closing time was the biggest waste of the Cybermen since the show returned. And the ending was “tacked on” to say the least. It was like “oh we have to give a few clues to the next ep so we’ll just sick them in here” A poor show and definately the worst of this season…so far…

September 28th, 2011 - 8:13pmMmmm, those electronic petitions are a waste of time – that wont even reach the desk of the exec who pulled the plug.
What would be better is if fans emailed the BBC and explained as a Public Service Broadcaster, they should be encouraged to continue to make programmes like DW Confidential, not just for the fans, but because it gives kids (and adults) a real insight into what goes on in making a show like DW. So many kids I know have, as a result of DWC, taken a serious interest in pursuing a career in TV production, whether that be stunts, effects, make up or writing. It has also done a great job at flagging the work the BBC have done with schools – as we will see with the new mini episode in the final confidential.
From a Public Service perspective, DWC is actually more valuable than DW itself and its a real shame the BBC don’t recognise the value it has.

September 28th, 2011 - 8:03pmDoctor Who HAS drama! But young people do watch the show, so they can’t overload it.
