Tom Baker…

Sarah Jane dead? No, impossible! Impossible. Only last week I agreed to do six new audio adventures with her for Big Finish Productions. She can’t be dead. But she is: she died yesterday morning. Cancer.

You can read the full tribute Here.

Matt Smith…

“What struck me about Lis was her grace. She welcomed me, educated me, and delighted me with her tales and adventures on Doctor Who. And she also seemed to have a quality of youth that not many people retain as they go through life. Her grace and kindness will stay with me because she had such qualities in abundance and shared them freely. I will miss her, as will the world of Doctor Who and all the Doctors that had the good pleasure to work with Lis Sladen and travel the universe with Sarah Jane.”

David Tennant…

I just can’t believe that Lis is gone. She seemed invincible. The same woman who enchanted my childhood, enchanted my time on Doctor Who and enchanted generations who have watched her and fallen in love with her – just like I did. I feel very honoured to have shared a TARDIS with Sarah Jane Smith, and I feel very lucky to have shared some time with Lis Sladen. She was extraordinary.

Russell T Davies…

“I absolutely loved Lis. She was funny and cheeky and clever and just simply wonderful. The universe was lucky to have Sarah Jane Smith, the world was lucky to have Lis.”

Nicholas Briggs…

We are all so shocked and so very sad at the news of the death of Lis Sladen. Only yesterday I was filming a DVD extra in which I was talking with such heartfelt passion about how she was so ‘luminous’ on screen and how brilliant she was as Sarah Jane Smith.

Please bear in mind some comments on this site are from very young and upset people. This news as come as a great shock to many fans, old and new.

Living in the Netherlands now, but growing up in England and an original Dr Who fan, I can’t believe what I have read today, and absolutely do not know why it has taken so long why I haven’t seen this earlier! Lis, or as I know you, Sarah Jane, you will never be forgotten!!! You accompanied the Dr in the first ever video I bought when I was about 6 (so around 1986, Death of the Daleks), which I still have now. I’m glad that through this site I can make a tribute just to say how much I appreciate you as an actrice, and that I share you with so many people around the world; you surely made it in your life!!! I wish all your family and friends my sincere condoleances. And just to state what will go on and on: LIS SLADEN, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!! Rest in Peace, thinking of you…

She was only diagnosed with cancer a few weeks before she died but she had been feeling very tired for up to 2 years

Watching SJA together tonight and wondering at what point Liz knew she was I’ll? It says on several sites that the battle was long and also that she found out only a few weeks before her death. We are huge Dr Who fans & the loss of Liz was huge. Everyone loved the character Sarah Jane.
