Next series of Doctor Who to be split

Next series of Doctor Who to be split transmission

From the BBC Press office…

The BBC and Steven Moffat have announced today that the transmission of the next series of Doctor Who, in 2011, will be split into two blocks, transmitting in spring and autumn.

The split transmission is the result of a request from Steven Moffat to write a new Doctor Who story arc which involves a big plot twist in the middle of the series. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens.

Steven Moffat said: “The split series is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!”

i like this idea, i hope they make the adventure games next year to top of with torchwood. look its doctor who from March/April – May/June, a month or two then torchwood until September, then the same month or another month would mean doctor who and it may be overlapped with sja. and another month its xmas. this means we get to see the sci-fi series and its spin off series are all year round. i think if RTD didn’t make the spin-offs then this would not be happening – this system fits perfectly into the next spin-off. right now we have to wait 4 more months (started with 5 months) until xmas for one episode and a further 3 months for new doctor who. this way you are always 3 – 4 months away from new doctor who series.

Go on normal wikipedia, type in Doctor Who,click on episodes, then scroll down to 2011 series and it says Daleks won’t be in any of the 13 episodes

Thats fantastic! 7 episodes, two premieres and two finales, its like two seasons packed into one, I cant wait for the twist in episode 7 and the finale, this is going to be even better than Series 5.

I’m warming up more to this idea, because I do hate the very long breaks between the end of the season to Christmas, then Christmas to the next season. By splitting it up, we have a more even spread and less time to wait in between. There are some series here in the US that do the same thing, with a “summer finale” then a short wait til the remaining episodes.

This is brilliant! Two (as such) seasons of Doctor Who, Torchwood S4, and The Sarah-Jane Adventures S5!

Well we all moan when we have a 13 week run then it is over. What is the man thinking of doing a 7 week run then a break then only 6!!!!!

Doctor Who is an ESTABLISHED format now, i felt the year of the specials was to little and to long a wait between some.

RTD is more passionite about WHO then Moffat will ever be. Moffat is intent on ruining the show just look at how much he changed for change sake.

I really like this idea of the split because you only have to wait the whole of summer to watch Doctor Who again in the autumn and find out what happens next. And the only wait 1 or 2 months until the xmas special.

And because of the spead out format it will seem like there are more episodes of Doctor Who.

    :)Doctor Who all year round!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

people said that this woud loose ratings, first people say move the show to autumn would improve ratings, it is good for just a 3/4 month wait and we still get 13 episodes + 1 special a year. “OHH!! I am not watching because i will loose interest”. If you are doctor who fans and like the series not because of the doctor, companions etc but because of the well written drama and innovative idea of travelling through time then watch the show. This is much better since you have to wait 3/4 months for doctor who – in that time you can watch stuff like the new torchwood (2011), sherlock bbc, and sarah jane adventures. now currently we have to wait 5 months to watch the xmas special (now 4 months) and a further 3 months for the new doctor who series. with this you watch in easter wait 3/4 months then more doctor who, about 2 months for xmas and the pattern starts again.

AT LEAST WE HAVE DOCTOR WHO and do have to wait another 16 years for doctor who to appear in our screens.

Am A Very Big Fan Of Doctor Who And Will All Ways Be…

Yes He Made Doctor Who His Own, But In The End It His Job And It All Works Out In The End…

If People Whom Say They Are Fan And Watch It I For One Would Say That There Know Going To Loose Interest…

Also At The End Of The Day How Many Doctor Who Fans Don’t Re-play Doctor Who Ep And Also I Would Say That BBC 3 Would Play Them All Again Like They Do When There Is A New Series Of Doctor Who Coming…

So I Would Say Lets Just Wait And See What Hes Going To Do Next Because It Seem One Hell Of A Story…
