Next series of Doctor Who to be split

Next series of Doctor Who to be split transmission

From the BBC Press office…

The BBC and Steven Moffat have announced today that the transmission of the next series of Doctor Who, in 2011, will be split into two blocks, transmitting in spring and autumn.

The split transmission is the result of a request from Steven Moffat to write a new Doctor Who story arc which involves a big plot twist in the middle of the series. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens.

Steven Moffat said: “The split series is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!”

It sounds good that Steven Moffat is splitting the series into a 2 part series I must admit I don’t care if the Daleks appear or not cause the new Daleks are not that good but the bronze Daleks I would rather see them we’ll just see what happens next year and I hope this years Christmas Special is exciting.

Amy pond is to be killed off in the next series of Dr Who, BBC bosses have revealed. This may be the twist that will feature in the series 6 split.

Steve Moffat has revealed that the next series of Dr who is unlikely to include a story featuring the Daleks. So far. This may change. He said “if there’s a story that comes up of which we can feature the daleks, then it will be used”. Will series 6 be as good without the Daleks. Of course it will.

jak, are you actually trying to critisize the Russell. T Davies on the creation of the Adipose and the Slitheen? RTD is the reason we use this website, so don’t insult his creations!

I think the Adipose are CUTE!

Hey, I’ve got an idea. What if the half-way finale involves the revelation of the identity of River Song, and, if we are to believe certain plot holes, the bit when she kills the Doctor!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody! After a long summer break, IWasBored! is back, with more (hopefully) witty comments!

This is an odd idea for series 6, but me thinks that it may be a good idea! What a way to do a series, split it into two parts and leave us on a fantastic cliffhanger!!!!!!! And Doctor Who in two halves of the year!!!!!!!!! YOU JAMMY DODGER!!!!!!!!!!

If I like it, I lead the way for the fans to get the DW team to do this EVERY YEAR!

A brilliant idea! I’ve liked most of Mofatt’s new ideas, including the finale, so It’ll be awsome to see what he comes up with next!

i don’t know what to think about this. Two series starts, two clifhangers, two bits of one series – two everything! It kinda
sound like a good idea but i’m gonna HATE having to wait for the
series to return. But if what i’ve heard about next series is right –
i’m pretty sure it is gonna be awsome! Aparently next year DW series episode three is gonna be called THE HOUSE OF NOTHING. I also heard it
may feature the return of Romana and K9! BRING ON SERIES 6!

Not sure on this idea of Moffats. A lot has changed since he took over and not all his ideas have worked. I think season 5 was far too fairy tale with a very poor finale. Maybe if the rumours are true about Matt leaving the programme, then the climax of the first half of season 6 will end with a regeneration. Would not be a surprise at all, according to the Sun and The Sunday Times a few weeks back that Matt will be moving to Hollywood after next year.
Maybe he is deciding to leave earlier than planned. We will see.

Sounds great to me. Always good to make appropriate changes, Doctor Who as a Series has already changed radicly from the Ened of Time on new years day 2009-2010, to the Eleventh Hour in April 10, the series has undergone an advancement, or an updation, or you may just call it another step during its evolution, change does not always necessarily mean improvement, unless ofcourse youre talking about me, Im busy thinken about how I should change, my whole approach to life has got to go, its time i REALISED i NEEDA DO THINGS WITH A PLAN IN MIND, AND AN OPEN MIND, READY TO ADAPT, READY TO GET SOME ACHIEVMENT. And I needa stop bein so sure of everything, I cant always rely on luck or fate, I gotta make ma own paths in laf. Ya know?

The only story arc that could cover this is the resolution as to who River Song really is . Anyway it will be epic!!! 😀 Moffats best idea yet.

I like the idea of reducing the amount of time wating until more dr who on tv, but people seem to be forgetting that it will be in 2 short stints, so it will seem a little like 2009 special year which was fustrating. This idea is not good, especially as ‘beginning with’ which i have heard to do with this format means this is a permanent change. 2 finales also means less non-arc episodes.

i now think this is a bit better coz he must have a big story arc to hide if the seires is gonna be split
and also because if we watch a normal seires of doctor who it only lasts a few weeks and then we have to wait months for the next seires
so ive changed my mind this is a brill idea

I know some people on here are saying this is a stupid idea, but think about how long we have to wait for the new series to be shown anyway so isn’t this going to be easier?

Personally i am warming to the idea and it will break up the year a lot better, not everyone is going to be happy with what is going to happen but they cannot please everyone can they?
    Here’s to a great 2011!

if you call yourself a doctor who fan then you would watch the series, not loose interest and not care what the show producers do. at least steven moffat didn’t create stupid aliens that fart and are cute little squishy aliens.
