The episode title “Nightmare In Silver” seems somewhat inappropriate, because this doesn’t feel like a particularly dark or terrifying episode.
It’s an unusually child-friendly (or child-like… or possibly even childish) episode – in fact, at times, it’s very like watching a CBBC show.
And that’s not just because it has a couple of kids in it – the kids don’t actually get much to do.
This episode does for the Cybermen what 2005’s “Dalek” did for the pepperpots (and, indeed, what “Cold War” recently did for the Ice Warriors).
Most of the tweaks (or upgrades?) work well. But if you’re one of those who dislike the stompy Cybus Cybermen you’ll probably wish they’d gone even further.
Matt Smith gets to play four different characters (sort of). Two of them very badly.
Opinion may be divided on the third.
There are returns for: a familiar piece of music, a bit of kit the Doctor hasn’t used much lately, an old Cyber-Achilles heel, two post-2005 catchphrases, and a couple of filming locations (which hardcore fans will probably recognise instantly).
Also keep your eyes peeled for something from a Toby Whithouse episode.

May 5th, 2013 - 8:49amJust checked out the new BBC America trailer on YouTube, and there’s this really weird bit from Clara when she says –
“Your orders come from me”.
Now why would she say that ?. She’s a companion to the Doctor, not a Military commander of some sort, it’s so unlike Clara to say that.
My guess is that she’s probably been hypnotized by someone to control a small group of Soldiers she’s seen with in the trailers, or the Doctor has put her in charge of them and she just feels she can give orders to these people for that very reason.
But it’s so unlike her to say such a thing, and the way she says it makes her seem cold, heartless and evil.

May 4th, 2013 - 10:04pmAfter reading SFX’s article on this episode I have reached plausible things that will pop up in this episode:
1. The Doctor’s Psychic Paper or K9 will appear as the ‘kit that hasn’t been used in a while’.
2. One of the kids will instantly realize something about Clara that neither her nor the Doctor had thought of about her being real.
3. The Doctor more or less gets Cyberised into leading the Cyberman to arise but will have a split personality/self-conflicting.
4. The cybermen’s weakness this time will most likely be a human emotion still being present, thus killing them/drives them mad; or they get wet and are electrocuted…
5. One of the kids gets possessed/turned into a cyberman, possibly.
Tell me what you guys think of my predictions. Pretty sure my first one will be right, probably the Psychic Paper or K9.

May 4th, 2013 - 9:38pmI know why your thinking of Earthshock, it’s because the last bit of the new look Cybermen walking towards us left, right and centre at 0:31 / 0:39 is identical to the end of one part of the Earthshock story when the Cyberleader faces the Doctor and says “My army awaits, Doctor !”.

May 4th, 2013 - 11:08pmI like Asylum of the Daleks but the Daleks would not just let the Doctor leave in his TARDIS at the end, even if they had forgotten him, an intruder on board a Dalek ship would just be killed on sight and why did the Doctor just leave a whole Dalek parliament just floating in the sky and not think of a plan to blow it up

May 4th, 2013 - 7:27pmIt looks a lot like some kind of remake of tomb of the cybermen, after that last scene, and considering old cybermen were there, it may be some kind of resurrection. And the original name was ‘The Last Cybermen’ which implies they’re fewer cybermen, then more will be created. The old cybermen did have the Cybus logo on their chest plate though! Hope they aren’t Cybus again, I think it’s time to go back now!
