12th Doctor Fan
February 3rd, 2017 - 1:58pmToo early for me to speculate I want to enjoy series 10, then only then think 13 but I’d love Ben Wishaw as13.
12th Doctor Fan
February 3rd, 2017 - 1:57pmAgreed I’m female and really don’t want a female doctor, we’ve had Missy and I’ve got fed up with her, Clara became bigger than the Doctor, hate series 9 ending, also didn’t like the character Me either, hated River, series 6 in particular.

February 3rd, 2017 - 1:12pmI feel sad Peter is leaving as he’s one of my favourites.people keep saying about a women taking over ,but I’m sorry no way should a women play the doctor no way.
Doctor Stu
February 3rd, 2017 - 8:40amI’ve heard Ben Whishaw’s name thrown around and I think he’d be a
pretty good doctor, he’s got that quirkiness about him that we saw as Q in James Bond and he can handle emotional scenes well like in London Spy. Plus he’d be the first openly out actor to play the Doctor which is a big push in diversity but it may be time for a woman to take over as well. As long as that actor or actress is picked because they’re the right person for the job and not based on gender, colour, orientation etc because they you start to move into tokenism territory.

You are so rude
whovian
February 2nd, 2017 - 5:46pmNo, no and no! He can just stick to sherlock and dr strange. He would make a terrible doctor. Alan Davies, your time has come to play the part!

February 2nd, 2017 - 4:39pmHells yeah

February 2nd, 2017 - 4:08pmI would like to see Sherlock star benditch cumberbatch play the next dr who

February 2nd, 2017 - 9:26amIt would be very interesting to see a female doctor especially when the current master is female also.
The Prydonian
February 2nd, 2017 - 9:14amWhat ????!!!!!! Miranda Hart is a very average actor at best. Never heard such a ridiculous suggestion in all my life.

February 1st, 2017 - 11:13pmI think miranda Hart should be the next Dr because she would be perfect as she would be funny
The Werewolf
February 1st, 2017 - 6:44pmTennant, Smith and Capaldi all did 3 series in 4 years. That is the pattern. Shame Capaldi had to leave though
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
February 1st, 2017 - 6:10pmI’m quite surprised to be honest, but don’t really mind as I found the character of 12 to be changing dramatically and suddenly with no apparent reason. The difference between eight and nine was really odd
Don’t know who should be next… but I do hope it is a man
Jordan Scott
February 1st, 2017 - 6:08pmI agree with you, although from what I’ve seen and heard, series 10 looks to be the best yet so might just make up for it!
Stewart Who
February 1st, 2017 - 1:44pmBen wishes……. Could be a good choice for the Doctor, but I think David Tennant is going to be the bookies favourite!……. A re-regeneration! ………Or Degeneration!……… But a clever trick, could be two Doctors….. a split degeneration…….McGann, and Tennant…….. A storyline where there is a twin regeneration, uncommon, but non identical Doctors with a spin off for McGann isolated on a Scottish island around the turn of the 19th century!

February 1st, 2017 - 1:32pmPaapa Essiedu for the new doctor. Fantastic shakespearian actor in the ilk of david David Tennant and John summ.

February 1st, 2017 - 1:28pmcolin baker of the new who. Thats a bit harsh for both actors. Even though colin baker is the frustrated jobbing actor and to be honest an hasty choice he gave it is best shot even though the powers that be at the beeb wanted him out even though he was and still is committed to who. With capaldi , he was an already established film and tv star before who, so to draw comparison is a little unfair. I think it is the right time to leave as people say and they needed to start afresh for the forthcoming chibnall era due to flagging ratings.
The Outcast
February 1st, 2017 - 10:16amOh, it appeared. Just ignore my previous comment then. 😛
The Outcast
February 1st, 2017 - 7:53amWell, I did write a fair bit on this but it was deleted by the Internet or something. Basically I’m fine with Gender and Race.
The Outcast
February 1st, 2017 - 7:46amI fine with the Doctor changing Gender or Skin colour as long as its not just done for PC reasons or as a publicity stunt.
I also think that for this to work we need to lose all the pointless Doctor/Companion romance plots. I’ve always thought the Doctor should be A-sexual to us, because we’re human and he/she is a time-lord, in order to make it less awkward when he/she does change gender. Not saying there’s any thing wrong with Male/Male or Female/Female relationships its just… one moment the companion is happily loving the Doctor of their preferred gender and then… gender change!
So yeah… No romance.
Alex Who?
February 1st, 2017 - 2:53amSad news for some (including me) but I know some will be happy to see him leave the role. And YES people are right, Capaldi got the short end of the stick with the quality of scripts in his seasons. Moffet should have done such a talented actor justice.
Still, there were some gems like FLATLINE and HEAVEN SENT. And of course the Doctor’s anti-war speech. Love the righteous anger of the 12th Doctor!

February 1st, 2017 - 12:44amI think the best option is to pause going forward, and give us the McGann years.
Give us Paul McGann!

January 31st, 2017 - 11:39pmWhat?! but why????
Dalekparadigm2
January 31st, 2017 - 11:23pmI hope he does, its a lot less work and the scripts on the whole are phenominal.
Dalekparadigm2
January 31st, 2017 - 11:22pmI’m sort of hoping that this clean slate will be just that and that Bill, though new, will be similar to Martha or Donna and be in for just the one series…
Exterminator
January 31st, 2017 - 11:03pmI’d be over the moon if Andrew Scott got the role. I really like him in Sherlock as Moriarty.
Mycroft Holmes
January 31st, 2017 - 10:07pmNo one cares about your dreams, brother mine. Now go home, you’re drunk.
Green Death
January 31st, 2017 - 9:18pmI’m a life long fan who has enjoyed Capaldi as the Dr. However, the recent story lines have become a little depressing and confusing at times for a middle aged man let alone a child. I’m not adverse to a woman taking over but the show must get back to its core values. Russel T Davies got it spot on when he originally brought it back.
The Living Shadow
January 31st, 2017 - 8:46pmI totally agree. At least we have a few good episodes like ‘Heavent Sent’, and ‘Flatline’. Hopefully they’ll have some good stories for him in series 10…
When The Doctor Was Me
January 31st, 2017 - 8:40pmI was hoping for Capaldi to stay on for at least series 11 just to see if the creative team change would help. However we are not going to see this.
I do think its a good idea for Chibnall to make the show his own from the start and not use a Doctor which has been established under a different reign. A clean slate and getting the show back on form is a huge priority for me.
