Michelle Gomez (Bad Education, Green Wing) will join the cast of Doctor Who, playing the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere when the series returns on 23 August.
Speaking about the role, Michelle Gomez said: “Well of course Peter Capaldi is our next Doctor, which makes complete sense. I’m thrilled to join him. Well, you would be wouldn’t you?”
Lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, added: “I’ve known Michelle for years, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to Doctor Who. She’s everything we need – brilliant, Scottish, and a tiny bit satanic.”
Filming is well underway for Series 8 of Doctor Who. Guest stars confirmed to join Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the new series, which will air on BBC One this Autumn include Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes and Hermione Norris.

June 30th, 2014 - 8:28pmBut which Osgood?
Am I a Good Man?
June 30th, 2014 - 8:24pmHere’s my three theories!
1). The Cybermen are launching a full scale attack on Earth, civillians are ordered to arm themselves against them.
2). The Cybermen have somehow been enlisted by the Time Lords to capture The Doctor and return him somehow to Gallifray. Hence why none of the Cymbermen appear to be attacking.
3). The crack in time reopens both in our universe and from the Time Lords side. The Cybermen get sucked through put somehow from different ages hence the old head. Perhaps the Doctor and the Tardis then get pulled through the crack resulting the Tardis exploding thus recreating the crack and spreading it through out time and space. The Doctor gets trapped on another planet inside the crack which turns out to be Gallifray.
Let me know what you guys think.
Dalek Smith
June 30th, 2014 - 7:50pmAnybody else get the feeling that now a big name actor, no offence to Matt, in Capaldi is the doctor, more people are wanting to appear alongside him, hence the bigger guest stars.

June 30th, 2014 - 5:55pmHurrah!
Earth invasion!
Cybermen (hope they do it right)!
Classic cybermen!
UNIT!
Kate and Osgood (two of my favourite characters in modern Who)!
There’s only really been The Power of Three and the Day of the Doctor that have really stood out for me as proper modern Earth Invasion recently and in Day it was pretty much drowned out by the 50th and other storylines (not a bad thing for the 50th itself) and Power was amazing to start off with but tailed off nearer the end.
We need more Earth Invasion! I find it makes a good, identifiable, strong Doctor Who story: Modern world, modern people, ‘real’ threats (i.e. not just concentrated in one place).

June 30th, 2014 - 5:47pmYou’re right! It does seem to be a classic cyberhead!
100,000BC
June 30th, 2014 - 5:46pmYeah, you can see her feet behind Kate’s. Would make sense, she is like a ‘Whoniverse’ Doctor Who fan – when she sees the new Doctor, she’ll be like, “Have to buy that jacket!”
Seeing as though the ‘whoniverse’ doesn’t do Baker scarf replicas, do you reckon Doris (or the Brig) knitted the one she wore in Day?

June 30th, 2014 - 5:46pmI noticed the head as-well! Maybe a meeting of the originals and lumic ones 😀
