I completely agree. Throwing in Cass’ character was so important, and I loved the depth they gave to a guest actor/supporting character.

They threw in such great narrative aspects in this episode! The breaking of the Fourth Wall, the fact that the character with the disability was actually one of the strongest and most resilient, and of course all the timey wimey stuff I can’t live without. All in all the entire two parter was so deep (no pun intended), and I can’t wait for more in the remainder of the seasons

^^^ Oh my god, BRILLIANT. These writers deserve Emmy’s.

That was super cool, it’s like the Doctor always tells stories to Clara but now it was so much more immersive because it was like he was talking directly to us!

Agree though, even though the Fisher King gave me the heeby jeebies, I’d love to see him in future episodes/learn more about his story.

I think about Flatline ALL the time!!! So creepy. But Before the Flood, all of it was SO clever I couldn’t believe it

The rock version of the theme needs to be used for EVERY episode of the rest of this series, moment it started, i turned my tv volume almost all the way up…. Absolutely EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aren’t they all voiced by the same person? I could be wrong though.

    I would say:

    The Magician’s Apprentice: 7/10

    The Witch’s Familiar: 8/10

    Under The Lake: 9/10

    Before The Flood: 10/10

    Average: 8.5/10

Well, that was a really enjoyable episode. Under The Lake/Before The Flood and Flatline, are probably tied for my favorite Twelfth Doctor episode.

Particulary the VERY quaint TVs in “The Idiots Lantern”.

Not really much of a back story as yet to The Fisher King.

So we all know Clara is leaving this series, but how do you want her to go? I would like to see her go by sacrificing herself to save the Doctor or something, basically I like her to die similar to Adric’s death in Earthshock… So yeah, Clara is the impossible girl and she was always meant to save the Doctor plus killing her off will a great her end to her story.

Perhaps a name unknown to newer Doctor Who fans, but to the rest of us specially during the Pertwee years is familiar. R.I.P. Derek Ware, taking his rightful and earned place in The Matrix of Gallifrey.

Daleks and cybermen are always gonna be our favs. I’m worried more though that when Jenna Coleman leaves the writers Are gonna overlook that the best replacements shud be the lizard woman and her maid. . They awesome.

I felt the Fisher King could have been given more background, but as a two-parter, that’s probably the best episode I’ve ever seen.

Also, the pre-credits sequence… just wow! I’d love it if every time it was the Doctor talking to the audience.

A terrific episode, and a great two – parter !! I hope the consistency of this season continues in this form, as, for me, this has been the best Doctor Who for years !!

Because to add an extra person to talk to,give the story more depth and to add an extra ghost to the pack

I know what you mean….he did that in Listen too….I like the monologue but uncomfortable with him talking to the audience….but who is to say the Doctor hasnt set up a camera drone in the Tardis to record his thoughts 🙂

Doctor Whi One – It had everything to do with the concept of the episode….he told that story to explain the paradox of time travel. If the time traveller had beethovens sheet music but it turned out that he became beethoven by using the sheet music that was already produced.then who actually wrote the music….translated to the episode… if the Doctor got the idea for his plan from the ghost hologram which was already programmed by the doctor in his own future, then who actually came up with the plan. Bootlace Paradox….as the Doctor said….Google it 😉
