What did you Think of Asylum of The Daleks?

What did you Think of Asylum of The Daleks

The first episode of series 7a has finally aired so what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average. Vote below.

Matt Smith returns as the oldest time-traveller in the universe. The Time Lord, Amy and Rory are kidnapped by their oldest foe the Daleks and forced on a seemingly impossible mission – to enter the Asylum, a planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of the deadly aliens’ kind.

From the official site…

Steven Moffat, Head Writer and Executive Producer, thanked fans and the press for keeping the secret:

β€œI hope you all got a nice surprise when Jenna popped up in Doctor Who several months early. If so, that surprise came to you courtesy of the frankly magnificent ladies and gentlemen of the press, and of the many Doctor Who forums and blogs too. This show has been seen at four separate screenings, across four different countries and yet not one person gave one spoiler. From all of us on Doctor Who, a heartfelt thank you for helping us tell our story.”

Negatives. I didnt like the way he killed of oswin so quick. i thought it was horrific. i hope it’s not another episode like River. I do not like the new titles. They are boring, there werent many classic or new paradigm daleks. rory and amy divorcing was pointless. i kept waiting for something to happen but nothing did, the daleks were not scary at all. they were weak and frail, and they forgot the Doctor. they are scariest when they are around him. I wanted a statement in the TARDIS from Amy saying: ‘Doctor, take us home, we need to sort things out, me and Rory’ but no, he just dumped the. Bit dissapointed, I would rather Oswin came in at christmas an donly at christmas, as it made the whole thing easier for the Doctor, and then she just got killed off, it ruins the ending of her character =, which I really liked.

    Sorry…

Not infamous I ment Not famous, because over the last 2 years the doctor has been too big now all his enemies will forget him,to stop the silence finding out

Wondeful! Sheer brilliance! 9.5 out of 10! Only 3 nit picks, the new title seuqunece elements aren’t that great, lack of classic daleks, and the dalek humans did make me shudder with laughter the first time I saw them! Overall, a brill episode! Looking forward to be seeing Jenna in more action from Xmas and beyond!

Skaro? how’d they get on skaro? i thought because of the time war, that place was time locked just like gallifrey

And yes so hows the new assistant gonna work out then?

He made them forget them because it’is Moffat plan to make him less famous like every enemy knowing him,the enemies will start asking questions like dr who, which will be part of the first question arc, that is why.

Moffat explained he wants the doctor to be forgotten across the universe

Well, apart from the lack of Classic Daleks (which was a little bit too hyped, but I’ll be forgiving)), that was fantastic. A great opening story for the series! πŸ˜€

Very clever. There wasn’t any classics though! That WAS Jenna- Louis Coleman. She said her name,Carla oswin, in the episode, which is the companions name.

well i guess that makes it a bit better but i still dont think the daleks should forget him

  • Kevin

    September 1st, 2012 - 8:27pm

Right then, lets have some you guys answer my questions if you please.

It was a great episode to begin the series with but here is a few plot faults that i found and would like someone to clear it up please.

Ok firstly, didn’t all of the russel t davis era daleks die? The only daleks left on the earth were the new telly tubbie race. So how then was there a ton of the rtd era daleks on the ship? Surely there would be more new daleks on board since they are superior and killed the old lot off.

Also whats this of daleks turning humans into daleks, a similar thing was done in bad wolf where they used that machine to turn human dna into dalek dna but how and where did this technology come from to suddenly turn humans into daleks? why would the daleks want human slaves? they have pig human slaves before but then would kill them off. In that dalek in new york episode, a human dalek was made and the daleks hated it and killed him off. so why now do daleks need these human dalek slaves?

Also why didn’t the doctor kill them at the end to leave them to kill off planets?

and last but not least what was the point in getting the daleks to forget the doctor. The weird silence cracks made the humans forget the daleks so why more of this forgetting the past and stuff?

But overal a good episode, just lots of weird flaws again.

    Cheers

As the doctor left dalek oswynn she said ‘and remember’. Remember what? I see a plan coming together.

  • Doctor Stu

    September 1st, 2012 - 8:23pm

Didn’t like it, felt like it was borrowing too liberally from Source Code.

As a dalek fan I thought it was a bit over done. We didn’t get to see many of the old daleks. I saw the special weapons dalek and a 80s one but other than that nothing. These doctor who episodes arnt what they used to be!

  • sheepinafez

    September 1st, 2012 - 8:20pm

THE DALEKS HAVE FORGOTTEN THE DOCTOR THATS JUST WRONG AND HORRIBLE other then that great episode just dissapointed that all the classic daleks died and no davros πŸ™ πŸ˜€

    Big questions and comments

Was this Clara before her dr visit later on or after?
    How did she get there?
Also it was really confusing with a dreaming Dalek
I guess doctor who?hints at the major story arc of the question
How was skaro there if it died in the war?time locked
Also I did not see many classic Daleks they all looked gold

But I think it was good andit sets up the story arc,Clara, daleks, doctor who?daleks being wiped off memories of the doctor

    September 1st, 2012 - 8:16pm

Does anyone else think that Moffat’s just pulling another River Song and killing them off before they introduce them to us? But overall a good episode. I wish that Pond had become a Dalek!
Really didn’t feel like 50 minutes, although I think the Rory/Amy fallout was a bit stupid and the new title sequence was… Strange. But I loved the episode, a brilliant Dalek story.

    September 1st, 2012 - 8:14pm

Dissapointing. Why have Amy and Rory back at all?
Hardly any of the old Daleks and not enough Dalek action.
Too much hype, shame it was a let down.
