Just wow…This ep blew me away! The plot was pretty creative and the alien arachnids looked and sounded chilling.I loved the concept that all through human history the moon has been an egg for a giant space creature and we have been none the wiser. Also, the Doctor leaving Clara,Ludvick, and Courtney to make the decision that would determine Earth’s future was a real shock that i did not expect! And after this episode,I’m unsure if the friendship between the Doctor and Clara is heading to the end of a cliff and will be sent careering off of it.All in all, a fantastic episode,in my opinion the best of series 8 so far!

  • What happened?

    October 4th, 2014 - 10:03pm

I’m surprised, i’ve just watched this with an 8 year old & 6 year old. Neither remotely scared and both bored which is a first. Although Peter Capaldi is excellant i’m getting a bit bored of this series myself – i love Dr Who but that’s who i want to see,the Dr actually feels like a supporting role in this series to Clara who’s character is becoming more & more unlikeable. Previously she appeared to most extents intelligent, confident & emotionally honest, a good supporting role. Now she seems to be arrogantly self obssessed and becoming progressively immature. My 8 year old niece, after watching her little rant at the end called her childish. When an 8 year old calls something childish……. makes you wonder what the writers are playing at. And ‘your decision womenkind’ followed by a girl bursting into tears, having a tantrum and running away after having to make a difficult decision. I find that insulting, the first time i’ve found anything genuinely insulting in this program. Maybe the changes to her character are to allow for behaviour like that.

Real shame this episode and i hope the series improves.

I quite enjoyed this story, the spiders looked magnificent, I liked all the acting. I thought the story was a bit far-fetched but what’s far-fetched in Doctor Who? 😆

What?!? I don’t know what to think! Peter made the doctor look arrogant, what with the “I’m leaving you alone” situation; the astronaught lady looked so bored until the end; Clara is crying because of the doctor as always, and Courtney was a bit useless! I’m sorry, but that wasn’t great – I like the doctor to be more nice and emotional and mysterious than many other characters, but that just didn’t happen in this episode. The spiders were fantastic though, the decision making near the end was slightly scary and the alien that came out the moon was quite cool. (Mind you, the alien is very quick at laying eggs!)

Would people who have stopped watching the show please read the Title of this page – “What Did You Think of Kill The Moon?”. It doesn’t say “What more have you to complain about if you’ve stopped watching the show? You cannot possibly have a view in this section”. Just Saying but I just think that this section could be kept a lot more civilised.

Well, I didn’t tune in to watch this one, as I gave up on it last week, so obviously I cant comment on it.
BUT – I have an observation here though ..
Because I was thinking ‘comments’ and not ‘doctor who’ I now believe strongly that many of the commenters here – especially those that reply to people giving negative reviews – are a few people that are posting many messages as different people – just commenting with a different name.
Maybe its BBC gremlins trying to make good? if so this message will get deleted most likely. Either way, reading between the lines it seems I didn’t miss much, I am not going to comment here further either, as its overrun with these ‘gremlins’. Bye Bye.

to be honest have enjoyed every episode, not one poor one yet for me which is great.

They just feel like classic episodes that should be twice as long,

back in the 60’s and 70’s this would have been a six parter!

i would agree with many though that the Dotor is stating slightly to be overshadowed by Clara

    • The Temporal Jelly Baby

      October 4th, 2014 - 10:18pm

Well, for me, it’s Doctor Who, so I enjoy 95% of the episodes. It’s only the occasional episode like Love and Monsters that I don’t enjoy. I see what you mean about them being more like the classics, especially Kill the Moon and Into the Dalek. Isn’t that one of the things Moffat promised on before the series? If so, he has pretty much fulfilled that promise.

For Clara overshadowing the Doctor…yeah, that is true, but it doesn’t bother me quite as much as it bothers a lot of other Whovians.

To sum up the poll so far, quite a lot thought that it was absolutely brilliant, a large amount (surprisingly) thought it was just terrible and not many people voted for things in the middle. So yes, this episode was Marmite. It was epic for me. 😀

I for 1 loved this episode. I think it was bigged up to be a lot more scary than it actually was (it was still scary though). I loved the 2 minute cameo from Danny. I thought the ending was very interesting. Second episode to have a moral dilemma (the other being Into The Dalek).

Well. That could have been better. Story was pretty good, simple enough, a good twist and executed well to boot. Really nice Moon sets as well, and the Moon Spider/Germ things looked pretty good too in CGI.

Unfortunately, the acting part is a big letdown. Capaldi, with the exception of Deep Breath, was at his usual high standard. And the main Astronaut lady (No I don’t remember the name, nor do I care) was quite good too, and felt like a developed character, with SOUL and PERSONALITY.
Courtney before was kinda fun, but was utterly dreary to watch in this episode. Just a whiny ‘I’m Scared’ kid role, which is a shame, because she wasn’t too bad before.
Clara however, is still unlikeable after about 1 1/2 series. She’s not really emotional, just kinda whiny with a tad of bitch thrown in for good measure. You don’t like the Doctor now? Fine, not bothered at all. You were much better as Oswin Oswald.

6/10. Good enough story and things, but some really poor acting just makes it *so* slooooooow. Next week looks silly, but kinda scary and fun too!

Yes! Fabulous! the story developed and was written at good pace, good supports (although i don’t know why courteney had to be there, didn’t like her that much)
doctor and clara were on top form, and we finally saw dramatically how the doctor has changed.
clara’s outburst at the end was well called for, and it was needed a lot at the time.
I’m happy she ditched him for a bit as i feel he needed a wake up call like that
the spiders made great villains, and they were actually scary.
