What Did You Think of Heaven Sent ?
Now that the highly anticipated eleventh episode of series 9 has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
I once had an idea where the doctor met Edgar Allen Poe and a strange psychic manifestation of Poe’s fear (a raven creature) haunts them. It might have even worked if face the raven wasn’t created.

The creature in heaven sent was so creepy. When I saw it on the trailer I just knew that it would be a great creature. I love how the Zygons were portrayed in the Zygon invasion/inversion. Sleep no more and before the flood were really disappointing, unfortunately, and the woman who lived was one of the most terrible episodes ever.

Just re-watching face the raven & the Doctor said “remember 82” to the random child when searching for the trap street. Coincidence? Maybe…
If not, then what could it mean? It’s a bit late in the series for as clue but are FTR & HS the only times this number has come up? I feel a series binge watch coming on. Okay, that was probably going to happen before ep 12 anyway.

I too used to cringe at the style of acting and the ‘special effects’ when these were transmitted. Its the 1980s, its what they had to work with, the sort of dialogue and production values were given of the time. We,ve come a long way since then. Maybe if you look at the stories from a positive perspective you can always find things to enjoy. Iused to hate timeflight warriors of the deep etc.. but now i watch them and wonder what they were trying to achieve given the limited time they had on studio floor. Yes they cocked up and theres no turning back but even now they don,t always get things right. Incidentally Janet Fielding is an australian actress.

I have no trouble writing of that entire era because the most annoying cast member in the history of DR Who was involved. Who ever decided a whining, whinging Teagen with an atrocious Aussie accent was a good idea needs shooting.
PS l am an Aussie by the way.

I don’t think it will link into the xmas special at all or too season 10. I think with River involved it will be a stand alone episode. I think they have got it right making River a special guest and not a full time cast member. I like River but in small doses, i think the number of episodes she has done is about right.

When absolutely every frame is gorgeous. When you could write a book about every line. When everything you think you know is challenged and you don’t feel safe even though you’re nearly a grown-up.
That’s when you know you’re watching Doctor Who.

I don’t think he does remember his past attempts, i think he works out what has been going on by the time he gets to the wall. One thing we don’t know is how long each body’s story lasts for is it weeks, months or even years. As he comes out of the chamber he doesn’t seem to know where he is or what is going on. Don’t forget its already been 7000 yrs the first time we see him.

I disagree, this run has been hit with changing start times rugby World Cup and other one off events. The numbers are constant based on reruns and downloads. The other Saturday night show are not steady- ask mr cowell who could be replaced by the voice very shortly.
I don’t think capaldi will be seen as baker-like at all. The doctor is always evolving, always in a state of flux. He will have darker times, we would too if we lived that long and seen so much. Smith only grew into the role in the last 2 seasons when the flimsiness was toned down. The reviews the season and capaldi have had this year have been the best ever. I guess it’s hard to please people all the time.
I agree with one thing though- the bbc should produce the show on a platform similar to Netflix. Drw would be a core pillar of that initiative.
