What Did You Think of Face the Raven?
Now that the highly anticipated tenth episode of series 9 has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
Couldn’t Clara make Rigsy pass on the shade to the doctor or Me two people who can’t die

Yet another poorly-executed, budget-restrained episode by another B-list scriptwriter who simply doesn’t ‘geddit’. Cybermen needing sanctuary? Don’t think so. By it’s premise, sanctuary infers you are afraid/ scared of something persuing you – which requires Emotions!! And the silver giants are emotionless cybernetic warriors. Just felt like they were put in the street to ‘look good’ and add NOTHING to the meagre plot. ( why not add an Ood, or a couple of judoon? Oh, hang on – they did! ) Smacks of deliberately trying to divert our attention from the inconsistencies ( that were many ) and the desperation in this series. Clara just standing there like a cardboard- cutout waiting for death? The doctor similarly ‘ standing there ‘ whilst she was smacked in the guts by a black budgie? ( Errr, sorry… Raven ) Born to save the doctor? Errrr… Nope! No continuity and feels like stuff is just being ‘ bunged in ‘ for the sake of it / ratings / etc. Just hope the BBC decide to revamp the series again before it’s too late…and stop the decline in standards. Even the actors looked as though they were thinking ” Ummm…Really?!?? ” and bored senseless. All in all a complete hash and Clara deserved SOooooooo much better. Never mind….at least Mr Capaldi is going to treat us to just SIX episodes next year whilst he goes and does other stuff. Need I say more….???????????

Hey, I’ve enjoyed Moffat in the past and now and then in the present, and I’ve defended him to death, but even I’ve got to admit that he got it wrong, there. A Cyberman is there with a poor explanation. Obviously it’s not a big part of the episode, so it’s more of a nitpick than anything, but it’s still a problem.

It was definitely an intriguing episode. It had an interesting story, a gripping premise, and some fascinating plot twists. The concept of an alien village hidden in London was a fascinating one, and I really wish we could have seen more of the different aliens living there in their true forms. I could only count an Ood, a Cyberman, and a Silurian with its mask on. The Shade was a really interesting villain, and I wish we’d seen more of it. Same of Rigsy’s family. We don’t get much of a story, there. It just happens. I think that’s the problem with this episode. It has so many wonderful, interesting ideas, and it either doesn’t expand upon them enough, or it just doesn’t explain them. For example, I’m sure we all noticed the Ood and the Cyberman living in the street. We’ve only ever seen humanity having contact with the Ood centuries into the future. How’d one find its way to Earth in the 21st Century? And hello? Cyberman? Emotionless upgrading and/or killing machine? How can it be there without building an army? Cybermen only cooperate with other races out of necessity, as in The Pandorica Opens or The Five Doctors. We get a bit of an explanation as they all fear the Shade, but Cybermen don’t feel fear. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. Oh well.
If there’s one art of the episode executed perfectly, it’s Clara’s death. I’m having a little trouble buying it, given Moffat’s track record with fake-outs, but it is fitting to see her own reckless, cocky nature backfire on her in the worst way possible, and it’s admirable that she just accepts responsibility. The Doctor’s reaction was excellent, unleashing his anger on Ashildr and threatening her and her street, until Clara stops him by pointing out the flaws in his plan, and tells him that it was her fault. Brilliant stuff, there.
I’m interested to see what the finale brings us, as the Doctor is on his own in a place designed to terrify him… If executed well, I foresee some great, horrifying imagery, and a really tense episode.

quite unhappy with the face of the raven because the Doctor and Clara literally stood next to a machine to keep someone alive.
He could have tried to put her there to keep her alive ( basically what the 11th doctor did to save amy-putting her in a machine that keeps the host alive)
Or He could have given Clara the same thing he gave to Ashildr. That would make Clara immortal and the Doctor can leave her coz she is not suitable companion anymore.
Just felt like He didnt try hard enough to save Clara

I quite beg to differ, I think that was a really good 50 minutes. Okay I see how people might have been left feeling a bit bleugh from the huge alien convention anonymous setting, but I think it was okay if you overlooked that fact.
As of the death of Clara Oswald. No words. I knew for weeks that it was coming in episode 10 but this was just cruel. And I really don’t understand why it was so sudden. One minute they were like “yeah we’re gonna save the world, all we need is rigsy’s chronolock” and the next minute, bam, Clara’s dead on the street.
And I get the fact she was supposed to die but please, a bit more fight from The Doctor. It tore my heart open when he was beginning to run forward and decided against it, watching Clara’s motionless body on the ground. I’ve gotta say, even dead, she STILL looks to die for. No pun intended. So yeah. I just can’t do this. Her death was sad.
Essentially, Clara just got her innards pecked apart by a passive pigeon, but hey, what better way to go than that.
Peace out Clara and remember us, cuz we’ll remember you, for sure. I just hope you don’t end up with cyber Danny in cyber heaven cuz his face is meh but his personality is
It’s a shame you didn’t get to celebrate your birthday.
