wasn’t the sudden change of heart a reference to the addiction question – you don’t know if you are adicted until you try to quit – Clara tried and couldn’t.

This was an excellent story, hope series continues to increase this kind of quality and Capaldi for me is 2nd only to Tom Baker. Hope he gets to go head to head with the Cybermen sometime soon. The last Cyberman encounter with Matt Smith was quite the worst thing I have had the misfortune to watch Who wise and still induces chronic cringing even now.

yes Clara is the worst companion in modern day Dr Who, I just cannot take to her as a companion in series 7 or 8

Need to watch this one again as I missed some of it – fell asleep I’m afraid, due to ex and kids moving out so it was quite a big and stressful day, so very tired and drifted on occasion.
What I did see looked quite good and boy did Clara look HOT! Capaldi was excellent in this one, just wish he had more screen time, but I really do like Clara.

For me one of the best so far & looking at the “coming soon” for next week looks even better. Also I am still amazed & shocked at all the negative comments with Clara!!! I just hope all the leaving/dying rumours are just that… Rumours
So you all, get a life & enjoy it for what it is, & remember, we could be living in the 90’s with no Doctor Who!!!!!

I thought it was great until we find out that Clara is going to stay!!
Loved the Jelly Babies in the cigarette case!!

I thought the episode was great, but again, there was no point having Danny in it really, and Foxes could have been given more to do as well.

Slightly formulaic and still lacking depth. The problem is we need to go back to cliffhangers and ideally the 2 parters to engage in the characters more, but it felt like more of a traditional old school story and I enjoyed it more for that. The mummy was quite scary and its a shame perkins didn,t get to go on a few adventures with the doctor. I liked that character.

Agree. Capaldi finally became the doctor, in this magnificent episode. To me he channelled Hartnell, Troughton and Tom Baker – but into something more than all of them. If he can take this and build on it – he will become the best doctor of all time.

    October 12th, 2014 - 12:46pm

this time a great monster but sadly a poorly executed script, could of been a episode to watch over and over again but as this is in my opinion the worst series since the revamp, cant take to this doctor, cant understand what hes on about most of the time.i keep watching hoping to like it but its getting no where, claras the only thing keeping it together and whats happenend to the music of the doctor.bring back david morrisey,he would be brilliant.regeneration soon please.

The poll results look much less spread than previous episodes, which is a tremendous positive…

The story wasn’t really that great but I thought the best bits were the homages to past Doctors. The conversation Capaldi had with himself where the second voice sounding uncannily like Tom Baker and his dress style evoking memories of William Hartnell (nice)

A thoroughly enjoyable episode which was spoiled somewhat by a rushed resolution to the situation. I’d have liked a little more explanation and hope the identity of “Gus” will be revealed at some point. I personally thought it might be Frank Skinner as he seemed out-of-place amongst all those scientists.

One more thing. The Doctor said “Gus” had tried to entice him onto the train before. Any connection to the phone conversation Matt Smith had with someone at the end of “The Big Bang” ?

Not great but definitely the best so far this year. I’m still not convinced enough to buy the Blu so the rest of the series will have to be exceptional if I am to get it. It’ll be the first time I haven’t bought the new series since it’s return in 2005.

I did not bother to watch last weeks episode, but I watched this one and I was really enjoying it hoping Clara was going to leave for good, but it was completely ruined at the end when she decided to stay. This is not meant as a criticism against Jenna Colemam just the character does not fit in well in the program either this series or the last one

Clara, she really came into her own in KTM, and I think people don’t get that having Matt then Peter is a lot for one person to get used to, and deal with on their own. Especially after the Doctor ditched her in Deep Breath, Kill the Moon and mucked up her life a bit in The Caretaker. The companion is our link to the show, and that she has expressed our shock and anger works for me.

I feel Clara has more essence and character now, and when I look back on series seven, she was just this normal girl who had a special quality. The Doctor always used to say she was feisty, but I never saw it, but in DB and KLT I did, so I think she is going well.
But, she should not have been in this episode, and that should’ve been important for her character building as she making her own decisions. It just could’ve been a lot better.
When Clara stepped out of the TARDIS I was like… oh.

    October 12th, 2014 - 9:36am

Throughout the series, whilst some of Clara’s scripts and plotlines haven’t been great, there have been times, especially early on in series 8 where Jenna Coleman’s acting and Clara’s character have been the saving grace of episodes. I don’t particularly like the way her character has been portayed in the last 3 episodes, but the solution is in the script writing; Clara is a great companion when not undone by the script.

So you prefer companions when they have no personality, have no effect on other characters and are simply a plot point?

  • The Surgeon

    October 12th, 2014 - 8:33am

This episode could have been brilliant, but for me the reason it wasn’t was because I stopped watching five minutes before the end. I knew what was coming next. Clara opens her mouth. Clara speaks. I hate these scenes at the end of Deep Breath, Listen, The Caretaker and Kill the Moon so much I turned over, but changed back just in time for the Flatline trailer (Which looks terrifying, but guess who’s the hero?)

    Clara Out

You sir, are a genius. That is exactly what I have been trying to say since Deep Breath.
