Now that the sixth episode of series 10 has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.

May 21st, 2017 - 2:38pmWell, the Doctor thinks it’s Missy in the Vault. The viewers are meant to think Missy is in the Vault. Moffat tells us it’s Missy in the Vault. Knowing Moffat though…he lies. The fact we haven’t actually seen or heard her in the Vault, means it could be anything…that can at least play a piano. I’m reminded of the Pandorica. When the Doctor was placed inside, but when the Pandorica was opened it was Amy. So, Moffat does have previous.

May 21st, 2017 - 1:41pmAn OK episode, Bill is a good companion but we already know she is gay can we move on and get rid of the soap opera elements of her and any other companions lives? Hopefully when Moffat goes we will see an improvement in this regard.
Every time Missy s on screen I see a missed opportunity, if only she had been Romana or Susan gone insane! Or someone new from the Doctors past? But at least we will see the real Master (Simms) soon, but I worry about that…..what damage will Moffat cause him and the rest of the show cannon in the coming episodes? I hope I’m wrong but Moffat never fails to destroy.

Like I said there’s been no stand out episodes that I’ve thought fantastic I will have to watch that again, and I’ve said before please get Murray gold back doing the incidental music there’s no big themes or music thats been used in other series.

May 21st, 2017 - 10:56amWell, except that there weren’t any androids but a Shadow World created by aliens in order to practise take over the real world. Besides, there are so many episodes of Doctor Who now (it’s been going on since 1963 after all) that there are almost always going to be similarities to at least one of them so I don’t really mind if that’s the case.

May 21st, 2017 - 10:18amIt was quite good, and I did like The Doctor integrating himself in to the simulation program and the idea of it. So that seems a good set up for next week.
I don’t care for the episode being bogged down with Bill’s private life drama’s – leave it out -boring – simulation or not – it just seems Moffat is over intending all the time, in portraying all the companions he has written for, to have a soap-opera life to deal with ….
And Nardole is still a lazy check/balance for the development of Doctor’s character.
I also view the vault as just cheap trickery – who are these people who know how to execute Time Lords – what significance are they further down the line -how did Missy end up there -etcetera and so forth. It just undoes the myth of Time Lords if everyone knows of them – has prophecy over them (Pandorica/Silence -*yawn*)
Oh well.
Peter Capaldi is still excellent, and I very much enjoy watching him, and the story could have been a bit tighter around The Vatican, the new menace’s and more Doctor, as these parts are good.
I am, though, looking forward to catching up with the second part when I can, at some point …..
So, as a recurring theme from me – an O’K episode, in an O’K season.

May 21st, 2017 - 8:49amI really enjoyed this, it was interesting. However, as long as ALL the loose ends are tied up properly and not just left or have some weak reason for being there. If that is done then I’m sure the second half of season 10 will be ok too.

May 21st, 2017 - 12:56amI’m glad I’m not the only one that’s a bit confused after watching Extremis. Typical Moffat trying to be clever and making it over complicated. It would’ve been better to set this in medieval times rather than modern day.
Why did the pope need an interpreter when I thought the Tardis translates all languages? Didn’t the sonic get broken in last weeks episode?
I’ve no idea what’s going on with Missy, why was she being executed, when was this in their timelines? What happened on Skaro the last time we saw her?
I loved Bill and Peter Capaldi was just wonderful as ever. It’s so good to have Missy back. I don’t think it’s her in the vault, it’s bound to be Simms master. It’s just like the pandorica when it was Amy Pond inside it and not the Dr. Moffat loves his little twists.

May 21st, 2017 - 12:48amLoved the concepts of this episode (and the execution for the most part), it had some very dark elements which I think were handled fantastically for a 7:35/Pre-Watershed TV show. Missy being in the vault is fine by me, as 1. I love Missy and 2. I didn’t have any ridiculous theories about who could be in there (I still think there could be more than meets the eye though..)! I thought the locations and costume were also particularly great throughout too.
The only real criticism I have is how much Moffat loves to trick the viewer. Like at the beginning when it seems like the Doctor will be executed, but then it’s revealed to be Missy. Was that necessary? And I wish we had gotten some hints that we were watching a simulation, like a few out-of-character line from the Doctor, Nardole or Bill, just because otherwise I can’t help feeling a little short-changed. Do people generally like the feeling of being tricked?
I’m not saying a story shouldn’t have twists, but if you’re going to have a twist which essentially renders the entire world (in which the story takes place) fake, I feel like there needs to be hints to the audience that what they are seeing isn’t real. It kind of falls into the whole ‘It was all a dream’ trope of storytelling. The Simulation did have a purpose though, and it has got me very excited for next week’s episode..! I feel like next episode could redeem my problems with ‘Extremis’ if it’s done well.

May 21st, 2017 - 12:16amLa la la I’ve got no idea what was going on la la la but seriously I low key-semi possibly also possibly not loved it. Especially watching it this late in pitch black, I may or may not have got severely unnerved whenever the aliens turned up and there were a couple of jump scares in there that got me. One thing that gets to me is nardole, I can’t take him seriously and Matt Lucas cannot do the dramatic scenes they make me cringe but maybe that’s just me. It was pretty dark as well with the mass suicides and the president overdosing. I just hope the resolution is that the world is real in the end because have all of these aliens the past 50 years been visiting and trying to conquer a simulated earth? I think not. Again a lot of questions left unanswered but hopefully by part three they’ll all tie together nicely. Also. Missy. In the vault. Gah. Was expecting something amazing.

May 20th, 2017 - 11:44pmKind of a confusing start, which slowly grew interesting in its sci-fi premise. Then they took it to ludicrous speed, leaving all traces of sense behind.
“If you ask a computer-simulated person to generate a random string of numbers, it won’t truly be random. If all the simulated people are part of the same computer program, then they’ll all generate the same string, the exact same numbers.” Lol! No, no, no, no, no! I shouldn’t laugh, but someone actually put pen to paper for this, and I’m supposed watch these peeps take it seriously and take it seriously myself. No chance.
“There’s always one thing you can do from inside a computer…you can always email.” The Doctor is sending an email to himself from inside the simulation. Why would that email ever reach the real Doctor outside the simulation. Surely it would only reach the simulated Doctor, as does tend to happen when you send yourself an email, never mind the likely size of that attachment and any attachment size limits that may be in play on mail servers within the simulation.
I really don’t know what to make of the “blindness”. The psychic shades thing comes off as weak, especially with the half-baked Terminator HUD visuals. If you can somehow determine gender, age, height, weight, heart rate, temperature, and probably their star sign, surely it’s not a stretch to at least show a simple silhouette of a person using, you know, their temperature…that’s actually being read???
It was a very funny episode, and not just because of the Pope, Missy, or the executioners.
No trial for Missy? How does that work?

Sorry but if you watch and are a fan of the 9th 10th or 11th doctor there’s no comparison, I’ve not watched one episode yet with the 12th doctor that I can watch a second time because I thought it was good, bring on a new doctor and writer, I am looking forward though to seeing john simm again,he should have been back from the start instead of missy.

May 20th, 2017 - 10:56pmI literally dont have a clue what the hell all that was about…. but im not sure if i hated it or liked it. The monk things were like something out of the Walking Dead or a kind of vintage 15 or 18 cert. Horror film.
It was really good to see Missy back, although nothing about her clever idea on Skaro. But was good to have her and Nardole reference the late River Song.
From the looks of the trailer, bit much to add a plane crash in isnt it?
The Pyramid at the End of the World isnt written by Moffat is it? Dont think my mind can take much more confusion.

Where else in the universe can you get a 50 minute show that has aliens building a virtual reality world so that they can do a test-run before actually trying to take over the real world?
Bill was awesome, she’s really brought Doctor Who back to life! Peter Capaldi was brilliant, and Matt Lucas was also dare i say to the critics, pretty awesome too! (Anybody else think theres much more to him? Just a feeling I have) Nice to see Missy back, will be interesting to see how she interacts with Bill, also whats the whole Missy is a Cyberman all about??

May 20th, 2017 - 10:18pmGreat episode! Very typical Moffatt script though. Jumping back and forth. Leaving more questions than answers. But it was intriguing for grown ups, and scary I would think for the little ones. There was a good amount of humour too, mostly supplied by Matt Lucas as Nardole. Pearl Mackie was excellent as Bill as per usual. I’ve no doubt the fine actress that she is, that she will be most sought after her stint on Doctor Who. Capaldi as well was superb. Another truly great performance.

May 20th, 2017 - 10:06pmEnjoyed it. The story has Moffat’s usual characteristics that I enjoy but probably won’t miss after 7 years of it.
Usually a story where everything that happens didn’t really happen is a let down but this has to be a first, if the monks have such a big plan they’ve got to make a virtual reality to see if it works it must be something amazing. Missy in the vault would be a let down if we didn’t know Simm was returning – definitely more to it, I’m betting something like when the Doctor opens the vault expecting Missy, Simm walks out.
