What Did You Think of The Angels Take Manhattan?
What Did You Think of The Angels Take Manhattan?
The final episode of series 7a has aired so what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.
The Doctor’s heart-breaking farewell to Amy and Rory – a race against time through the streets of Manhattan, as New York’s statues come to life around them…
With Rory’s life in danger, the Doctor and Amy must locate him before it’s too late! Luckily, an old friend helps them and guides the way.

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: 8/10
A town called Mercy: 8/10

I am a massive Dalek fan but even I can admit that Asylum of the Daleks was a travesty.

October 10th, 2012 - 8:25amwhy is the Power of Three lowest mine is:
Asylum of the Daleks: 9.5/10

Power of Three: 9.5/10
The Angels take Manhattan:10/10
Miss Amy already
October 8th, 2012 - 7:51amI really don’t care who the next companion is. Amy was the best companion since Sarah Jane. Why do these stupid writers need to kill people off all the time. I hope the Angels get them, and soon.
davidwroxy
October 10th, 2012 - 5:02amI agree that Amy is the best companion, but Karen Gillan wanted to leave and never return (at least thats what she said). Though, are some rumors that she will return dor the 50th.

October 7th, 2012 - 11:20amI thought this was lacking excitement. The weeping Angels though are one of the best characters ever seen in Dr Who, they have an especially creepy feel about them.
As to the end of Amy And Rory, I thought the story line lead up was boring, although the final scene was particularly moving with the doctor pleading with Amy.
Bring on some more sci-if western stories.
As to the best doctor anyone agree that Matt is by far the best, second only to Eccelston. Amy would have to be the best companion…..
Bit peeved that we have waited months for the return of Dr Who, only to get 5 shows….When are we going to get a Dr Who movie????

October 7th, 2012 - 12:28pmThe episode was ok, i just wanted to see more magic like like the older series had. All in all the episode was a fitting farewell the ponds. But that is my opinion.

October 5th, 2012 - 5:25pmhey one of the working titles for the first episode is the bells of saint John. which sounds interesting i was wondering perhaps it could be something to do with the tardis blowing up and we find out who it is but it might have something to do with the tardis as it has a saint John logo

October 2nd, 2012 - 8:36pmSteven Moffat said that was the original idea but he ended up dropping it.

October 3rd, 2012 - 7:48amPerhaps Amelia heard the TARDIS noise because that was the Doctor doing what Amy Said for him to do in the afterword

October 2nd, 2012 - 12:55amim gonna miss the ponds =/ they deserved a better send off, but at least they wont be bringing them back (tht annoys me).
just thinking..Moffat was very clever to have the next companion in the first episode. cause now everyone loves her ^^ (it better be the same character tho or im gonna go and knock some sense into him)
wish they hadn’t over used the angels =/ loved em in the first ep (blink) but after that it just got a bit silly.
im now super dreading when river leaves. but the thing i dont get… shouldnt river be getting younger as he sees her… ?

October 2nd, 2012 - 1:52pmthis episode wasent the best i mean it was better than asylum of the daleks but i felt no emotion im not fussed about who leaves and who stays. the angels were not scary. i think the show should return to the classic format
Jason doctorwhoone
October 2nd, 2012 - 4:06pmJenna-Louise Coleman’S Oswin Oswald from ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ wont be coming back as she was killed along with all the other Daleks in the Asylum.
Instead, Jenna is returning as Clara Oswin, a woman from the Victorian times, who maybe a great great great [several times great] Grandmother or some other relation to Oswin Oswald, like Freema Agymans Martha has a Cousin called Adeola back in Army of Ghosts / Doomsdays, same actress, different characters, but both related in some way.
The Weeping Angels should never have returned after ‘Blink’, they should have stayed scary in that 1 episode and left it at that, just like Joss Whedon did with the Gentle in Buffy the Vampire Slayers series 4 episode ‘Hush’ by not bringing them back after that episode.

October 1st, 2012 - 10:22pmHere’s a few thoughts. The future River does not try to prevent what occured (like NEVER go to N. York!), and it seemed to me that River wrote the book in such a way to ensure Amy and Rory were sent back, coincidence that as a child River lived in New York, also she encouraged Amy to ‘blink’ and really didn’t seem too upset in the Tardis afterwards which makes me think she actually WAS the future River and knew what was going to happen. Rory had to go back as he has to die of old age on a set date. Could the graveyard angel actually be an Angel Of Mercy (a good angel) so Amy could be reunited with him? Remember they get to live their lives free from the angels and live a long and happy life. Surely there is more to be revealed by River about what happened. As far as I can work out the Dr can’t go back to see them as he witnessed Rory’s death, they are part of his timeline. (If someone dies he can’t just jump in the Tardis and go back in time 5 minutes and save them for instance). Once it says on the gravestone they are dead he can’t go back as they have already lived their lives without him. Going back to see Amelia and telling her about some of the future adventures makes sense as I used to puzzle over the fact Amy often seemed to know just what to do, as if she had already lived it before, I used to think she was a time lord or something in the first series. He would of course only tell her certain things and not others. I do wish they had used all the five episodes in a story arc leading to their departure, it felt as if they had already been pushed aside for most of the ‘series’. Amy and Rory I shall miss you!

October 1st, 2012 - 9:50pmi enjoyed this story but it was a bit rushed but i thought that amy and rory were going to die because they were jumping off the top of winter quay but in the end it was unexpected the way they left the show all that i can say is goodbye the ponds

October 1st, 2012 - 8:02pmSigh, if only Someone Had Teleported to the Graveyard either COD Zombies or if they had a Vortex Manipulator and took some guns or something and distracted the surviving Angel then Amy and Rory would have never’ve been zapped back in time.
PondsForever
October 1st, 2012 - 8:03pmI meant either from COD Zombies BTW.

October 11th, 2012 - 10:58amThe angels are bullet proof.

That’s a horrible idea for an ending

October 1st, 2012 - 5:42pmThe apisode was ok, but there were alot of plot holes. it was very dry, but still the weeping angles were as manacing as ever. i just hope that future episodes wont suffer the same fate as this one. as a whole the series was ok, but the wealth of plot holes made it very confusing and stale. and in my personal optinion could have used more T.L.C. as a whole. it feals rushed.

October 1st, 2012 - 4:46amI’m disappointed that they didn’t wrap up the whole Amy and Rory being River’s parent’s thing better. I never saw Amy and River try to get to know each other, and Rory definitely didn’t.
The end for Rory and Amy came too quickly and is too cruel. Too many plot holes as well. Didn’t like it.

September 30th, 2012 - 9:35pmPlot holes you could drive a truck through… but I still liked it LOL
The only thing I wish we had gotten was a little more information on the Pond’s life after they’d been sent back in time (as we did in the original weeping angels episode when Sally got the letter from Kathy)
I will miss the Ponds, I kind of had a crush on them LOL
Oh, and btw, whoever said angels couldn’t be bronze? At the end of “Blink” we saw all sorts of statues not just stone statues, implying ANY statue could be one of the ‘lonely assassins’ & NOT just the weeping angels… pay attention people!
Yeah… I gotta get a life, I know LOL
Silence Will Still Fall
September 30th, 2012 - 8:53pmBeautifully written and acted. Best episode of the series so far.And for maximum impact the weeping angels should NEVER EVER return because after this they’ll never be forgotten.

December 6th, 2012 - 2:18pmThey actually released a sort of clip (I can’t quite remember but I think it was a storyboard) where Rory’s dad gets a message from Rory explaining what happened.
Come on, the Weeping Angels aren’t the worst villains ever. Overused a bit perhaps, but they’re consistently ranked as peoples favourite or near favourite Doctor Who monsters, so to call them the worst villains is simply false (they’re the villains you most dislike, not the actual worst villains).
Rob
September 30th, 2012 - 6:18pmIt should have been a two parter. A city over-run by weeping angels, The Statue Of Liberty an angel etc… Also how could the angel zapp Amy if both River & The Doctor were looking at it?
The Supreme Dalek
September 30th, 2012 - 9:10pmI think because Amy was right up at it, so when she turned around the Angel’s hand didn’t really need to move as she was very close so she got zapped. It could maybe have moved so little they didn’t notice… 😆

Can’t find no official confirmation, but Ive just taken a look on Google and a website called ‘Word Press’ talks about it, but features both Jenny the Doctors Daughter and the other Jenny from last years ‘A Good Man Goes To War’ episode, the woman with the Silurian woman.
