What Did You Think of The Doctor Who Episode Cold War?
What Did You Think of Doctor Who – Cold War?
The Doctor and Clara land on a damaged Russian Submarine in 1983 as it spirals out of control into the ocean depths.
An alien creature is loose on board, having escaped from a block of Arctic ice. With tempers flaring and a cargo of nuclear weapons on board, itβs not just the crew but the whole of humanity at stake!
Now that the 3rd episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

April 14th, 2013 - 12:14pmThis episode was OK, there are a few flaws though.
1) They had David Warner…DAVID WARNER, and he only had a relatively small part. If you’re going to get an actor like David Warner…give him a bigger part than a measley proffessor!
2) The ice warrior took its helmet off. That kind of ruined the mystery for me, considering it looked basically like a silurian. The CGI for the ice warrior’s ‘true form’ was absolutely terrible. It looked like something from a cheap CBBC show. It should’ve been prosthetic makeup.
Story was alright though. 6/10

April 14th, 2013 - 11:47amOh hey, me again. Guys this episode was great but keep your heads up because i’m pretty sure that 2013 is gonna give us MORE excitement. But I wonder what 2014 will brng? No point wondering now. But theres a question to keep you nattering.

April 14th, 2013 - 11:44amIt was great considering the plot and action and Skaldak ( who was freaky but awesome ) but the sub woud’ve exploded because of the depth and everything. Plus I don’t exactly LIKE Mark Gaties instead of Steven Moffat.
I also don’t think it was a GREAT idea to show the face of an ice warrior, plainly because people could of imagined it for their selves and maybe woud’ve kept it more interesting.
But, hey… this is Doctor Who. How can I NOT love it.

April 14th, 2013 - 11:18amgreat story but it had its flaws.
1. the doctor and clara are wet and are able to stand in the freezing cold arctic at the end
2.the submarine should have exploded under the pressure at that depth when it was flooding with water.
3.how did the doctor and clara speak Russian when the TARDIS was at the south pole.
but overall it was a very good story

April 14th, 2013 - 11:07ami just notest that at the end when Clara sang hungry like a wolf skaldak stoped the countdown…thingy and before he told clara that his dauter sang soooo there might be a connection?

April 14th, 2013 - 10:12amThe translation circuit always works. It worked for rory when he was thrown back to New York.
The Casterline
April 14th, 2013 - 10:12amThe one thing I didn’t like was the head it looked like something out of a cartoon from the 80s, or a piece of Broccoli…
thea astronaut of death
April 14th, 2013 - 10:10amprobably because all the aliens spoke in lots of different languages
so the tardis might have just stuck to English
fan since 1963
April 14th, 2013 - 10:08ami thought it was awful..exactly what was David Warners’s chartacter on about it singing pop songs..shots of Clara gawping… clunky dialogue and acting.. reminded me of the bad old days of Dr Who we’ll be back in a quarry again soon..i dont want to see a Ice Warrior again…

April 14th, 2013 - 10:04amI know it sounds sort of silly, but I LOVE the way they have shown the dates/places in the past few episodes, such as where it says the place at the start of this in the ice. I think they are all just very clever and they don’t stand out too much so you aren’t just focused on that!
Does anyone else agree?

April 14th, 2013 - 9:58amthe TARDIS translated Russian for Clara but in the rings of Akhaten she couldn’t understand the Aliens
The Flying Shark
April 14th, 2013 - 9:52amYes, but their hissing isn’t an accent, it’s how they talk.
Anyway, I loved this episode!

April 14th, 2013 - 9:44amBit interesting to hear that again really…

April 14th, 2013 - 9:20amHaving an accent would just let it down. You see, the tardis translator even deletes accents.

April 14th, 2013 - 9:14amHas anyone noticed that the doctor met clara three times: one in the past, one in the present and one in the future? π

April 14th, 2013 - 8:13amWhen? I missed it!
Dalek The Supreme
April 14th, 2013 - 4:22amSo far, I think it was great, but I’m not sure. I don’t know how I feel about the acting, apart from the mains and Saldack (Who was great), but the mention of people being torn limb from limb was dark and certainly brought an element of fear. The moral dilemna that Saldack faced at the end was great, and proved that Ice Warriors aren’t too different from humans after all. Also, it was interesting seeing the Ice Warrior without his armour.
The Greater Intelligence
April 14th, 2013 - 3:16amI loved it, absolutely amazing writing (a la Gatiss), and I like the new design of the Warriors. The only thing that held it back was that the voices, sadly, were below par. Some people might like them, but the Ss weren’t drawn out and the lysp was undetectable. I watch ‘The Seeds Of Death’ for the first time today and I ordered the DVD for today, so hearing those voices did let the new episode down for me. Other than that, absolutely stellar episode (ACE!!).
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
April 14th, 2013 - 12:33amI mean he should’ve been loose for a few days and they shouldn’ve been stranded for that time. more drama, and urgency.
The Moffat Paradox
April 13th, 2013 - 11:49pmWell done Mark Gattis.First rate! Doctor Who more like I remember seeing it when I was a very young child.More like that please and more Ice Warriors beside Daleks & Cybermen.
CaptQuint
April 13th, 2013 - 11:43pmA deadly Martian warrior loose on a stricken nuclear sub at the height of the Cold War? That’s got to ooze tension and excitement with plenty of space for neat character development right? Well you’d think. What we got was a flaccid run of the mill yarn that plodded along to a conclusion along the lines of ‘oh I see your point, lets just forget this ever happened eh?’ David Warner popped up but might as well not have bothered for all the good his character did – we can only hope the Le Bon ditty is one if Moffat’s breadcrumbs to be savoured down the line, it certainly provided no sustenance here. And if the Tardis had buggered off at the first site of danger to the South Pole, how come the translation dohickey still worked. Two mundane eps on the trot with a ghost story to come are not filling me with confidence for unlocking the mystery of Clara or the 50th. Desperately hoping for a return to form.
The mad Dalek
April 13th, 2013 - 11:42pmA good episode, let down by length of episode and bad acting, but i’ll admit, best yet
ForeverDalek2313
April 13th, 2013 - 11:01pmAs this is my first episode with the Ice warriors in,I liked it a lot.
I loved how the doctor was able to persuade the Ice warrior to not destroy earth.
Doctor Stu
April 13th, 2013 - 10:42pmThat ice warrior could return and wreak terrible icy revenge and the Doctor just let it go. Also why did the Russians seem oblivious to a huge alien ship above them at the end?
