October 25th, 2014 - 11:34pmWow – why do all you people who declare u r doctor who lovers always seem to be down on everything. I suggest letting your preconceptions go, letting go of ‘what it should be like’ and open yaselves up to what is being done. Wanna bet, 10 years from now a whole new set of moaners will be saying ‘gruuummmffff… Much better in the capaldi days’. Its cos its new, fresh and ya don’t like change… But change is life, stasis is death…
Enjoy yaselves, its later than u think…

October 25th, 2014 - 11:23pmI missed the first five minutes of In the Forest of the Night, oh how I wish I had done the same with the remaining 40 minutes as this was one of the most baffling, incomprehensible and among the worst episodes of Dr Who I have ever seen. Shocking.
dave d
October 25th, 2014 - 11:42pmShocking? You can turn the tv off. And – u can record stuff too so ya don’t miss the beginning. No wonder u didn’t like it, the first 5 mins set up everything!!!!! Jk

October 25th, 2014 - 11:13pmWorst episode in a long time im afraid…..
Nigel M
October 25th, 2014 - 11:12pmJust when I thought this series had turned a corner we get this utterly terrible and nonsensical episode. Easily the worst so far.
TheExtremeBlueTARDIS
October 25th, 2014 - 11:08pmI rather enjoyed this episode. It was MUCH better than the dull The Caretaker and Robot Of Sherwood.
1. Mummy On The Orient Express
2. Listen
3. Kill The Moon
4. Deep Breath
5. Time Heist
6. Flatline
7. Into The Dalek
8. In The Forest Of The Night
9. Robot of Sherwood
10. The Caretaker
Sid Rat
October 26th, 2014 - 7:33amI agree TheExtremeBlueTARDIS. I quite enjoyed this episode. Not a classic, but certainly way ahead of Robot of Sherwood and The Caretaker. Liked the concept of Forest Of The Night.

October 25th, 2014 - 11:05pmWell…I’ve seen better. Then again I have seen worse. Some of the effects were a bit bad but most of them were good. The arm waving was irritating and distracting, the ending was lame and the Missy section was exciting (but then again, when is it not?). Doctor Who this series has been really good on average with a few slip ups (Episodes 2, 3 and 10 in my opinion). What does annoy me is people getting so wound up and negative against it all. You’re meant to be fans not moaners. Be critical, but do it nicely not with a rain cloud over your heads. Be nice. Anyway, the series has been good overall in my opinion and next week’s and the week after’s episodes look to be the ultimate finale. I’m so sad it’s all coming to an end as I was looking forward to it so bad but there’s not long to the Christmas special. YAY! I for one will be getting the DVD and watching it over and over until I get sick of DVDs and am scratching my useless eyes out. On that note I shall leave.

October 25th, 2014 - 11:46pm‘i felt the girl was unnecessary’ – is anything necessary?
UnknownHorror
October 25th, 2014 - 10:04pmThem kids oh god that little girl was the entire plot ruined it completly and i was expecting Capaldi to bring out a guitar and sing about world peace at any given moment absolutely terrible episode

October 25th, 2014 - 10:35pmLOL I agree.

October 25th, 2014 - 11:48pmWoah – kid haters? Did u spring from the womb an adult?
Nigel M
October 25th, 2014 - 11:49pmIndeed, I wonder what’s next, the doctor hosting kid’s birthday parties in the Tardis ? I make that three of the last four episodes they’ve been in there !
dave d
October 25th, 2014 - 11:55pmWoah – more kid haters. Erm, not procreated I guess! Give it a go, man, ya perception of the world will change, and – we can only hope – u may even lighten up a wee bit…
MORE KIDS PLEASE, if only to wind u guys up xxxx
UnknownHorror
October 26th, 2014 - 3:39amDave i don’t hate kids in doctor who at all you can get really good kid actor’s see Luke Rani Clyde Maria Sky from SJA it’s just they really were not that good to be fair and i do think we need to move away from coal hill otherwise they will just keep coming back
Dalek The Supreme
October 27th, 2014 - 12:24pmActually, the kids in this episode were one of the few positives, in my opinion, and made far more of an impact than Courtney Wood.

October 25th, 2014 - 9:49pmBad episode fits well with a bad terrible season and for a lot of reasons.
1. Making it a kids show for only 6 year olds.
2. Losing its broader fan base
3. Losing DVD sales, I certainly won’t buy this.
This whole series has been terribly let down by Steven Moffat. and someone needs to let him know that dr who is a family show that should appeal to all age brackets, not just 6 year olds.
Needs someone new at the helm. make it gutsy Sci Fi and bring it back on track
Clue 1. news monsters, inovative
Clue 2. Retire cybermen and Daleks
Clue 3. Give the doctor empathy and a heroic side other than psychopathic.
Clue 4. Better writing
Clue 5. STOP DUMBING IT DOWN
A junior script writing class could do better
Alex The Geek
October 25th, 2014 - 10:00pmHow has this series been for 6 year olds? It’s had some of the most horrific and grown up things in modern Doctor Who ever!
The finale is all about death! That’s not 6 year old appropriate.
R.Y.C.B.A.R
October 25th, 2014 - 10:02pmColin the 3rd, the only good episodes in this series are:
1. Flatline.
2. Mummy on the Orient Express.
3. Robot of Sherwood.
If you can tell me where the other good stories are, please tell me. My grandad has been watching the show since it began, and even he has said to me that its boring and it just doesnt feel like Doctor Who anymore.
mat518
October 25th, 2014 - 10:09pmIn response to C of 3,
I think kids deserve intelligence, kids deserve to be inspired, not to be treated like dumb dumbs. Some will love this season but I bet the majority does not. Interesting to see if DVD sales have plummeted.
Just for the record. I have watched every episode of who. The return was breath taking, this season, well lets say : suffocating.
What a waste of the brilliant Capaldi and Coleman, the writing let them down rather than letting them shine.

October 25th, 2014 - 10:13pmLong time Whovian here, all my grandson is trying to point out is that this new series is not all it was cracked up to be. I have enjoyed watching the series since William Hartnell was the Doctor.
And just to clear something up, my grandson is not saying what you should and should not enjoy. That is completley up to your personal preferences.
the astronaut of death
October 25th, 2014 - 10:21pmin what way are they being treated like dumb dumbs
mat518
October 25th, 2014 - 10:33pmPlease, everyone: Peace flag. Everyone has a right to opinion and different points of view. That is what different points of view are about. You debate differences and grow from it all. There is nothing personal here.
We all love good Sci Fi Views here of the show are opinion only and here you will read many different varied even opposite opinions.
Nothing should ever be taken personally as that is not intended by anyone. Peace please.
the astronaut of death
October 25th, 2014 - 10:38pmok but in what way are they being treated like dumb dumbs?
Dalekparadigm2
October 25th, 2014 - 10:48pmWell in response to the first comment (which is laughable) The Daleks and the Cybermen have been in the show from the 1st Doctor so retiring them would be ridiculous. Comment 3, your granddad may have watched it from the start and this isn’t his cup of tea but for people of the modern era, it’s amazing. The special effects are as good as that generation thought the old special effects were. Robot of Sherwood wasn’t that great. Deep Breath was better for me.
Lastly, I agree that that people have different views but some of them are just unnecessary.
mat518
October 25th, 2014 - 10:51pmReply to Astronaught
It is often said, reality never makes sense, but a book and film has to. What I imply is that children are intelligent.Children are smart, they live in a world of super instant communication and know and watch more than you think.
In respect to that point of view, the script writing needs to be up to the mark, and in my humble opinion, I think it could do a lot better. In my opinion, it is dumbed down.
Trees saving the earth from a solar flare is good sci fi, but how it is presented in writing and scripting can make it genius or completely the opposite.
The show could do better in the writing.
Flat line was showing improvement and I liked the idea. Flat line was a good episode.
Overall the representation of this doctor is hard to like only because what came before was so much better. In that observation, the writers I feel have a duty to write a script that is awe inspiring.
Maybe I am a hard task master! Maybe I expect that they keep the standard up that you saw in earlier incarnations. I feel that it could be better.
But, my opinion only and you are welcome to yours, as I have enjoyed reading all the comments here by other posters the more varied, the better.

October 25th, 2014 - 11:51pmMatt, for all our sakes, unclench, pour yaself a nice glass of wine, or roll a wide one, and relax. Try enjoying stuff…
Sid Rat
October 26th, 2014 - 7:46amI think mat518’s comments, and the subsequent responses show that there are really mixed views about this series, whether it be the writing/storylines, the Doctor, Clara or whatever. At times this series I have been disappointed and at other times I have enjoyed watching. I have watched every episode with at least one other DW fan, and there have been times where we have agreed and times where we have disagreed. Anybody watching and taking the time to read this forum and post obviously cares about DW, whether they are enjoying this series or not. I just hope that some people involved with the show take the time to read comments on DW forums, and maybe take the fans’ views into account.
Dalek Smith
October 26th, 2014 - 12:58pmSeries 8 is still better than anything in the past three years, and Capaldi is hands down the best doctor of the new series. Matt Smith was more for the six year olds
Dalek The Supreme
October 27th, 2014 - 12:35pmPersonally, I was really excited for the Twelfth Doctor. My favorite was the Eleventh, so I had confidence in Moffat to do well writing his successor. I feel like I’ve been disappointed. The Twelfth Doctor has been horribly inconsistent up until Time Heist, the quality of the scripts seems to change drastically almost every other episode, and in Listen, the Doctor himself is made far less interesting. Clara has been much better handled here, though, and I can see an actual character for her here. Danny Pink had potential, but only ever left an impact in two episodes. One, he was barely shown, and the other was a complete let-down.
While Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor had both a great performance and a consistent character, the Twelfth Doctor has only one of those, only halfway through the season sticking to a consistent character who I could describe for you in confidence. We were supposed to know who he was at the end of Into the Dalek, judging by the script, but the way he was written in Robot of Sherwood was terribly inconsistent, and he didn’t really fall into a consistent character until Kill the Moon.
So far, this season has been really interesting, but really disappointing. Hopefully they’ll get better
Gallifrey Will Rise Again
October 25th, 2014 - 9:45pmThere was plenty to enjoy from the episode but it was probably the weakest so far. Next weeks looks phenomenal!!!!. I’m not buying into the fact clara has turned bad though! i’m thinking either a clone to which our clara would still be alive or she’s just simply under influence from a greater power using her to do their bidding.
Sid Rat
October 26th, 2014 - 7:47amWhen I saw the trailer for next week’s episode, the Missy bits reminded me of the whole ‘Madame Kovarian / Amy Flesh’ thing.
The Moffat Paradox
October 25th, 2014 - 9:43pmThought it was OK once (cant expect EVERY episode in what I think has otherwise been a very strong series 8 to be as good as what I think one like “Flatline” was) we got finally to what was really supposed to be going on.
Hoping for a strong rounding off for the series with the “Dark Water/Death In Heaven” finale of course.
CJ
October 25th, 2014 - 9:38pmWell I don’t think In the Forest of the Night was a disgrace to be called a Doctor Who (not Dr Who) episode and Most of Series 8 has been excellent! Also why change the writer? Yeah I know RTD is a better writer and everything but Steven Moffat is good, no need to change writers and there certainly no need to bring back David or Matt because Capaldi does a fantastic job as the Doctor just like them! Plus, I like to think that the Doctor finds out why he looks like Caecillius at the end of his era or something.
CJ
October 25th, 2014 - 9:41pmSorry that was meant as a reply to someone
R.Y.C.B.A.R
October 25th, 2014 - 9:51pmCJ, not being funny, but this series is the worstest one so far. The writing is terrible, the acting is wooden, Peter Capaldi just does NOT do justice as the Doctor and even the elder viewers have said that this series is terrible.
dave d
October 26th, 2014 - 12:01am@ R.Y.C.B.A.R – no, u r being funny. This series is just different. Homogeneity is dull, u cant have everything the same. Relax, kick back and open yaself up to capaldi – the best doctor ever… Yeah, I just Sai that…
Dalek The Supreme
October 27th, 2014 - 12:40pmI don’t mind change, and even though Matt Smith was my Doctor, I was genuinely looking forward to Capaldi. However, while he’s not a terrible Doctor, he’s definitely one of the weakest, in my opinion. He’s a great actor, don’t get me wrong, but the character has been written inconsistently, the quality of the scripts changes drastically almost every other episode, and Listen made two interesting characters (the Doctor and Danny) and made them far less interesting. Danny hasn’t really left an impact, either. However, Clara has improved, sticking to a consistent character and her relationship with the Doctor is one of the highlights of the season.

I love suprises

October 25th, 2014 - 9:31pmAny episode with ‘selfie’ in it isn’t a good one. Kids seem to always be very stereotyped in Doctor Who and this wasn’t really an exception.
the 20 second teaser overshadowed the actual story to be honest.
It still looked magnificent but should Nelson’s Column have been a little dirtier? 😆
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
October 25th, 2014 - 9:31pmthe girl who played mave kept on saying ‘fort’ instead of ‘thought’
Gallifrey Will Rise Again
October 25th, 2014 - 9:38pmIt may have been intentional as i swear on 2-3 seperate occasions words were mispronounced for whatever reason, i’m sure i heard clara saying obducted instead of abducted at one point.

October 25th, 2014 - 9:26pmThe episode was passable as entertainment and for the most part the production values were high.

October 25th, 2014 - 10:09pmR.Y.C.B.A.R!!!! Stop talking about how bad the episode was!!! Come on, some people loved it! It wasn’t my favourite but I liked it! If your reading this, understand that you don’t have to bang on about your negativity!!!!

October 26th, 2014 - 7:57amWow R.Y.C.B.A.R, that’s critical!! I’ve been down on quite a few episodes in this series, which have left me disappointed, and I don’t like Capaldi as the Doctor – just doesn’t work for me, however you make me feel like the most positive DW fan in the Nethersphere!! Forest wasn’t a classic, but certainly not a disgrace, and the 2 episodes before – Flatline and Mummy were much better than some of the earlier episodes in the series.
Martha Noble
October 26th, 2014 - 7:59amI agree with Sid Rat. We actually watched the episode together and both agreed that it was quite enjoyable but its not a great one.
Dalek Supreme
October 25th, 2014 - 9:12pmA valiant effort, but kinda bad.
Nice CGI and sets and all that, and an interesting idea. Danny Pink, your real name has been earned, you weren’t bad at all this episode. Kids, kinda annoying but not too bad, each one felt different. Clara still seems dreadfully uninformed as a companion. One minute it’s ‘Oh me and the Doctor are tight,I know exactly what he’s like’, and the nest it’s ‘Oh wait no I don’t, he’s so unpredictable!’
Not bad, but as a story, it doesn’t work really. The central idea is nice and new, but the little threads holding it togther are rubbish. Where was the entire population of London at the time? Didn’t those parents watch the news? Gah, gaping plot holes everywhere.
Next week looks awesome! Nice to the Iron Men- Sorry, Cyber Men-back again.

October 25th, 2014 - 9:05pmONE OF THE WORST EVER EPISODES OF DOCTOR WHO EVER. VERY DISAPPOINTING !!!!!!
R.Y.C.B.A.R
October 25th, 2014 - 9:22pmThe Silent Silent, i couldnt agree more with you. Peter’s Doctor is worse with the attitude problem than Hartnell was.
paddy
October 27th, 2014 - 11:17amStop right there! I won’t hear a word against Hartnell! Actually I thought this was a good episode in a disappointing season. I was n’t too keen on Capaldi at first (Having had very high expectations) but in the last two episodes he has grown on me immensely.
Incidentally has anyone heard a rumour that he may do an ‘Ecclestone’ and leave after one season?
