I don’t mind the story arcs themselves – but I think that nowadays they are controlling the stories too much.
DW didn’t get axed during the ENTIRE original 26 year run did it? It was nothing to do with nice, ordinary individual stories.

so the reason trenzalore looked like it did in name of the doctor was because of this battle?

I think it’s more down to changing trends in how people watch the show. More and more people watch on demand now than they ever did during the Tennant years. Those figures are never included but you could safely add at least another 2 million to the official figures…and don’t forget to add the sky plus figures too.

The show is far bigger globally than it was in the Tennant years….the 50th special sold out in cinemas in the states… That would never have happened 5 years ago. I think people read to much into the figures anyway.

As viewing trends change and more channels come on board, they will become less and less meaningful.

More people wanting DW to go back to the bad old days….when it got axed.

That said, in the Tom Bakers days, it was all about story arcs…no one complained back then.

It seems like that may be the case. If the Daleks are aware he is regenerating, that means he’s regenerating before defeating the enemy.

Yes and I would like less Doctor-and-story-arc-centric stories.

I hope this is the end of the whole movie style thing… more traditional stories for Capaldi please!

Rather then have Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor appear right at the very end, I wounder if the last 12 minutes could be spent involving the 12th Doctor ? so that we get to know him a little before we have to wait for series 8 to begin in August / September 2014.

This year’s Christmas Special looks absolutely fantastic but incredibly emotional at the same time!

“The Doctor has fallen into the trap” – Clara gets attacked by the hands in the ground right after this is said. I hope she is okay!

“The Doctor is regenerating!” – Moffat did say that Smith will be regenerating at the end, but what if it is the last 10 minutes and not last few minutes? Wouldn’t the Daleks be “defeated” by the end?

I can’t wait. I will miss Smith so much that I wouldn’t be surprised if I was teary at the end, which usually isn’t like me!

PS: Who agrees with me that viewing on Doctor Who has gone down? It’s happened ever since Smith came (I don’t dislike him!!) but the series viewing has gone down and the merchandise has kind of gotten less figure wise. But I still love the show for sure! 😀 😀
