Tom Baker…
Sarah Jane dead? No, impossible! Impossible. Only last week I agreed to do six new audio adventures with her for Big Finish Productions. She can’t be dead. But she is: she died yesterday morning. Cancer.
You can read the full tribute Here.
Matt Smith…
“What struck me about Lis was her grace. She welcomed me, educated me, and delighted me with her tales and adventures on Doctor Who. And she also seemed to have a quality of youth that not many people retain as they go through life. Her grace and kindness will stay with me because she had such qualities in abundance and shared them freely. I will miss her, as will the world of Doctor Who and all the Doctors that had the good pleasure to work with Lis Sladen and travel the universe with Sarah Jane.”
David Tennant…
I just can’t believe that Lis is gone. She seemed invincible. The same woman who enchanted my childhood, enchanted my time on Doctor Who and enchanted generations who have watched her and fallen in love with her – just like I did. I feel very honoured to have shared a TARDIS with Sarah Jane Smith, and I feel very lucky to have shared some time with Lis Sladen. She was extraordinary.
Russell T Davies…
“I absolutely loved Lis. She was funny and cheeky and clever and just simply wonderful. The universe was lucky to have Sarah Jane Smith, the world was lucky to have Lis.”
Nicholas Briggs…
We are all so shocked and so very sad at the news of the death of Lis Sladen. Only yesterday I was filming a DVD extra in which I was talking with such heartfelt passion about how she was so ‘luminous’ on screen and how brilliant she was as Sarah Jane Smith.
Please bear in mind some comments on this site are from very young and upset people. This news as come as a great shock to many fans, old and new.

April 20th, 2011 - 6:20pmFar as i know, they will make a brief mention of Liz before or after the first episode of Series 6, but if im completely honest, i’d like the BBC to mention both Liz and Nicholas Courtney, cos he was also like Liz a very important element of Classic Doctor Who back in the 70’s, but also because of the fact the BBC totally ignored his death by never mentioning it on the News, yet they thankfully have done with Liz . . . . well, i feel his death was ignored, i dont know about anyone else if they think that or not.
who crazy!
April 20th, 2011 - 6:18pmI only found out this morning and God was I upset! 🙁 Crying my eyes out because she was one of the most known and loved doctor who companion ever. 😥 Im gonna go to HMV next week and buy as many Elisabeth Sladen DVDS that my arms can carry. 🙂 Yes thats certainly what Im gonna do! April 20th, 2011 - 5:05pmMy heart goes out to all, especially the family of the wonderful Lis Sladen.
As Tom was my Doctor, Sarah was my companion. They joy to watch as a child and as a man. My absolute delight in school reunion when all my hopes cam true, they were together again teh Doctor and Sarah.
Then hold on Sarah Jane Adventures, who would have ever thought that it would be.
I feel like part of my childhood is lost again, ended so abruptly by the loss of the most wondeful Liz, with no hope of a renuion to save me this time.
You will never be forgotten, truely a place in the universe and the stars is there for you.
