March 20th, 2012 - 9:31pmNot being a household name, we can immediately rule out Miranda Hart (not that she’d ever be considered (hopefully) for the show). Reasoning because she has only recently starred in “Call the Midwife” and hit sitcom “Miranda”, so she’ll be a current household name. Sophia has done other work in non-relevance to Doctor Who, so she may not be the companion, although why would Tom Spilsbury be meeting her and interviewing her for the next issue of Doctor Who Magazine, instead of another reporter such as Benjamin Cook? It all adds up, and the knots are tying themselves together now.

March 20th, 2012 - 9:28pmIn relation to the revelation of the new companion, no, the whenabouts of Amy and Rory’s departure is still uncertain. Karen Gillan still does not know (either that or she’s bluffing for publicizing purposes – under strict instructions from Moffat). The only news worthy of unveiling in this “conference”/”press-release” is a) the actor/actress who shall be portraying the new companion, b) their character name (and, if we’re lucky, age) and c) when they shall come into the series (which ultimately does not contemplate when Amy and Rory will depart, given the new companion could come into the series whilst Amy and Rory are still acting as companions to the Doctor.
