Pearl Mackie to be New Companion
Pearl Mackie has been named as the new Doctor Who companion alongside Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord in the Tardis.
The Londoner’s role was announced on BBC One during half time of the FA Cup semi-final match between Everton and Manchester United.
Mackie replaces Jenna Coleman, whose character Clara Oswald left the show in 2015.
Filming for the next series of the long-running science fiction show will start this year but air in 2017.
Mackie, who graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2010, is currently performing in the National Theatre’s West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

April 28th, 2016 - 6:52amAs long as she’s not from the present day, I’m fine with it.

April 27th, 2016 - 9:55pmI just seen the tenth doctor get hit by a Dalek. wish the tenth doctor stayed forever….. i mean, kindof does in a parallel universe for as long as a human… anyway, i think the doctor’s presence intimidates them.

April 27th, 2016 - 3:12pmSo is Bill going to be in this years Christmas special or not until series 10 in 2017?

April 25th, 2016 - 7:33pmLets be honest when anyone sees a dalek for a first a time they are amused….. until it kills someone

April 25th, 2016 - 7:00pmI wish we didn’t have to wait a whole year until doctor who. I’m already looking forward to it!

April 25th, 2016 - 3:37pmI loved Ace, so I’m grinning with delight, hubby’s already said yes to a jacket and a Bill with dr t shirt.

April 25th, 2016 - 3:18pmYea, I agree with this.
The comment below about the daleks having a new look – it was already tried once badly and failed in that thrilling adventure from season 5.

April 25th, 2016 - 12:47pmI’m liking what I see in this new character. Bill reminds me of Ace, and Ace was by far my most favourite companion, always ready for action. I hope the traits of Ace remain…and no more lovey dovey stuff from previous companions.
Can’t wait for new series.

April 25th, 2016 - 12:09pmI think Bill may be from the 1980’s. Although i am probably wrong.
prototype dalek
April 25th, 2016 - 9:26amI think she might be quite good, this is only an introduction so she might changed a buit depending on reception

April 25th, 2016 - 12:58amWhy is it that whenever a dalek is shooting at the Doctor or his companion its aim is always off? For everyone else, the daleks aim is spot on. Is it just the Doctor’s presence?

April 25th, 2016 - 12:53amIn one of the pictures above the TARDIS looks very battered. There’s bits of paint peeling off. How did that happen, because it wasn’t like that in The Husbands of River Song. Did the daleks do it? Or has the Doctor just let it fall into disrepair, like he did when he lost Donna? I’m really hoping there’s a new interior to the TARDIS too.

April 25th, 2016 - 12:31amI’m really hoping Season 10 will be a very memorable one. Bill looks promising, and if they’re waiting a year before releasing hopefully they have some really good episodes. I’m hoping that the Weeping Angels can make another appearance in a really scary episode, and that they bring back one of the classic villains from old doctor who like Omega. I’d also like a really complicated story line like Season 6. Can’t wait!

April 24th, 2016 - 9:33pmYeah, they must have filmed this very recently, that or its a spooky coincidence
daleksean
April 24th, 2016 - 7:34pmI hope there isn’t a complicated storyline to her like thedoctordonna etc
Alex Who?
April 24th, 2016 - 7:22pmI think she’s going to bring a hip new vibe to the show. Can’t wait till 2017!
ALEX THE CARDIFF BAYLORD
April 24th, 2016 - 5:39pmI would say it’s turning in to a kids program, but it looks better than before. I feel doctor who really fails both children and kids, through making scenes childish and yet adding a very complicated story line, which is in turn is ruined through the childish scenes.

April 24th, 2016 - 5:16pmUnless she comes from a period before that – hence the “back to the future, 2017” comment – maybe she comes from early 21st century? Style of dress isn’t much help nowadays…

April 24th, 2016 - 5:07pmI’m sure the crack in time erased those invasions? Like with the cyberking in Victorian London?
Exterminator
April 24th, 2016 - 2:51pmI’ve watched the clip a few times now and I think she’s going to be an amazing companion. I like the way she makes silly observations and jokes in the face of impending danger. I feel she’s just what the doctor needs after the know all that was Clara.
I can’t wait for Christmas now, I really want to see how the Dr meets Bill.
Exterminator
April 24th, 2016 - 2:39pmHe looks great in the red velvet jacket.
the ergon
April 24th, 2016 - 1:05pmI think there playing it safe for the pre teen market, she comes across as a sassier cross between ace and Courtney. Not the radical change I was expecting. The fact pearl is 28 and looks at first glance like she might be playing older teen has something in common with sophie aldred, if that’s the age she,ll be playing because she was playing the teen in her mid to late twenties. I think there might be more to her than meets the eye.I just hope they don,t saddle the character with the big the big family backstory. I do think bill is the diminutive of Belinda, like the woman from 2 point 4 children.
doctor who fan 11
April 24th, 2016 - 12:23pmIs she human or an alien?
after watching the mini ep 4 times I am leaning towards alien. if she is human why does she not recognise the daleks. After the events of AOG/D and TSE/JE everyone should recognise the daleks. Martha did. donna didn’t because she was always away or hungover when anything happens. Amy didn’t because of the crack in the world. And for Clara it is impossible too know after she had entered the doctors timeline. so if she is human why does she not recognise them now.
DOCTOR 12
April 24th, 2016 - 11:46amYour right. I did get a bit annoyed. Sorry for the cruelty

April 24th, 2016 - 11:27amFor those fans who don’t like her I just have to say don’t let new things stop you from what you like. She might actually be a great companion so carry on watching Doctor Who. To be honest I didn’t like peter capaldi when I heard he was the new doctor but he turned out to be great and now I find him brilliant. So again, don’t let new things stop u from what u like.

April 24th, 2016 - 11:19amIt is a set rule really, I don’t see how Peter Capaldi and a male companion would work, as he said himself in an interview.
