Radio Times – BBC Not Ruled Out Female Doctor Poll

BBC Not Ruled Out Female Doctor

From The Radio Times

The new Doctor could be handed the keys to the TARDIS as early as next month, BBC sources have confirmed – with insiders suggesting Matt Smith’s replacement needs to be announced before the Doctor Who Christmas special begins filming next month.

The Twelfth Doctor is expected to first appear on screen at the end of the Christmas special, following the regeneration of Matt Smith’s Doctor.

It would be virtually impossible to keep the identity of the new doctor a secret even if the entire set went into lockdown during filming of the Christmas special, a BBC source told RadioTimes.com.

“The search has begun in earnest and is active now,” the source said, adding that the BBC has not ruled out hiring a woman to replace Matt Smith.

So like so many other we ask the question – yes of no!…

Lets just put it this way, if they decided to change cat woman to cat man, i think they would get all the feminists saying that it is sexist that they have done this. Now that some of these feminists are complaining that it is sexist there has been no female doctor, i say that it is very annoying that they are acting a bit hypocritical. I don’t find it sexist against men just because cat woman hasn’t been a cat man, so why do they when it’s the other way round?

Personally i would stop watching if the doctor did turn female. I think it would ruin the show as many fans have grown up alongside a male doctor.

Here’s a hint for everyone. Since when has the Doctor been cast as someone who is very well known. The likelihood of it being anyone from Hollyoaks, Corrie or Eastenders is as small as the small version of Azal. As with Rupert Grint (which a lot of people seem to be obsessed with).

People are so harsh lol! With the right scripting and the right casting, a female Doctor could be excellent. Granted, it could also be a disaster – but the same can be said every time a new Doctor comes along, male or female.

I personally probably prefer the Doctor to stay male – but if they do go ahead and cast a woman, I’m more than happy to see how it goes!

I agree. We need a change of writing style every 4-5 years. I think that Toby Whitehouse or even Neil Cross would make a good lead writer.

I don’t understand why everyone is so concerned. It happens every time they get someone new to play the Doctor (eg: 2009: http://screenrant.com/doctor-woman-brusimm-4698/)

And if they did decide that; if you truly loved the show you would be able to accept it. One person stated they would ‘start a riot’. Seriously, it is a TV show. Yes I love it and it takes up a lot of my life but it isn’t everything! Calm down, there’s nothing to get worried about anyway…
