Series 10 Episode 9 Empress Of Mars Sat 10th June 7.15pm
Empress Of Mars. Written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Wayne Yip.
The Doctor, Bill and Nardole arrive on Mars, and find themselves in an impossible conflict between Ice Warriors… and Victorian soldiers.
As the Martian hive awakens around them, the Doctor faces a unique dilemma – this time the humans, not the Ice Warriors are the invaders. When Earth is invading Mars, whose side is he on?
The Doctor is played by Peter Capaldi, Bill by Pearl Mackie and Nardole by Matt Lucas.

June 9th, 2017 - 8:25pmTime to think about the overnight ratings. I reckon ‘Empress of Mars’ will be an improvement on last weeks. So I’m going to say 4.6 million.

June 8th, 2017 - 7:23amI loved robot of sherwood and thought it was better than most of the dross served up in series 8, and agree none of his episodes are classics but all watchable

June 7th, 2017 - 9:31pmOh, and I think The Crimson Horror is underrated. 🙂
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 7th, 2017 - 9:29pmHonestly, I don’t mind Mark Gatiss’ scripts as much as some fans do. With the sole exception of Sleep No More, which I do appreciate as a worthwhile experiment but it simply didn’t work in my opinion, I think all of his episodes have actually been consistently quite entertaining. Not classics at all, but certainly entertaining TV.
And yes, that does include Robot of Sherwood. Despite its flaws, I do remember enjoying it. The Doctor literally fought Robin Hood with a spoon!
I also don’t expect Empress of Mars to go down as a classic (if it does, great, but I don’t expect it to), but I do hope it will be another example of an enjoyable Doctor Who episode from Mark Gatiss.

June 6th, 2017 - 2:19pmA grand actor and from what I hear a lovely man. When I was a kid he was the voice of the Rat on wind in the willows. Very distinctive voice and a sad loss. RIP

June 6th, 2017 - 12:20amVery sad, yet another one gone. He’s great in the ice warriors, but I think I’ll always remember him as Wallace, and of course clegg in lotsw always watchable and one of the most distinctive voices on TV. R.I. P.

June 5th, 2017 - 8:47pmIndeed. Especially in the same week that the Ice Warriors return. As it was 50 years ago he appeared in Doctor Who in ”The Ice Warriors’. He will be best remembered though for his constant appearances in ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, and the voice of Wallace in Aardman animations ‘Wallace and Gromit’ R.I.P

June 5th, 2017 - 1:39pmI’m looking forward to ‘The Empress of Mars’. I’m in agreement with Mark Gatiss, who considers the Ice Warriors to be the third best monsters after the Daleks and Cybermen.
