SO, RIVER IS A TIME LORD!! BUT I STRONGLY THINK THAT RIVER WAS THE GIRL IN THE SPACESUIT!! 1: SHE REGENERATED. 2, SHE HAD A PIC OF AMY ON HER MANTEL. 3. RIVER SAID THAT THE DOCTOR WILL CARE FOR MELODY IN ANY WAY, AND THE SPACESUIT HAD LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS. DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK SO???

    wrong wrong wrong

the doctor looked at the knitted thing from the girl who lived in the gamma forests which lay in the cot and the gallifreyan writing wouldve been to do with him more than likely

also who thinks the sontaran was funny talking to the injured boy and who thought river was the docs mum when they were talking before amy found out who river is

and what happened to the series 5 alliances as both Judoon and silurians plus sontarans where part of the alliance but helped the doctor in ep.7.

I agree Justininferno that last night show was a let down. The best episode i like was with the tardis as a human i thought that was brillant well done Neil Gaiman. Russell T Davies has got to come back writing for doctor who. The ratings from last series and this series have been poor. When Russell T Davies had the show his ratings for the show was sky high he needs to come back to write for doctor who if not i can see the show been taken of air again and want be back anymore. Russell T Davies is a brillant writer.

Russell T Davies it brillant i want him to write for Doctor Who again. Steven Moffatt don’t seem to have that magic to doctor who which Russell T Davies had. Bring back Russell T Davies.

I totally agree Matt Smith is a great Doctor and great actor, much better in my opinion to Tennant,

I have also been watching the first series of the New Dr who’s again recently and Christopher Eccleston was also I very good doctor (he gets over look a lot).

I can’t believe you think that series 5 was bad???? Series 5 and 6 have been brilliant!!!.Yes it has become a bit more grown up, but I for one welcome the intelligent writing and strong story arc’s in both series 5 and 6. The stories in my opinion have been much better with Moffat I like the fact that stories take time to be explained I’m sure eye patch lady will return and we will learn more about her.

Because the doctor always calls Rory Mr Pond. And it is discussed when the Dr first meets the baby he calls her Melody Pond. When Rory and Amy get married he calls them Mr and Mrs Pond, because the doctor see Amy as the dominant person in their relationship.

So the Tardis has been translating Melody Pond to be be River Song every time they have meet.

    Loved it.

I like the real clue at the start of the episode, Rivers Birthday!

So River/Melody has been taken and is going to be turned into a weapon to kill the doctor, put into the space suit and kill him at the start of episode 1, then escape the suit but get hurt in doing so and then re-generate. (little girl)

The doctor possibly does not recognise her then falls in love with her etc etc

Pitty about waiting until the Autumn though.

For those moaning about the long story lines, they obviously did not watch classic who which had entire series on one storyline.

Matt Smith is not compared to the other doctors, as they are all individual personalities. He brings his own style which is also great.

    that was cool, and epic.
    Really.
Anyway, im bored a bit about “river shot the doctor” theory.
Where’s the evidence? I mean, what proves that was young river in the suit, and the doctor was shot, was the real one? Im personally think that he was a flesh one, and the girl could be anybody.

Adding to that, River is part Time Lord so can read Gallifreyan, and would be able to read the Doctor’s true name in Gallifreyan (thus the Doctor realises River is Melody, already establishing the baby is part Time Lord).

I have to admit though, watching the end of the episode again, the dialogue is confusing and does make it sound like River/Melody’s name is etched into the cot… but that doesn’t make any sense, as the Doctor would have seen the writing when fetching the cot from the TARDIS.

    Spoiler Speculation
Melody Is Taken Down To Earth, And Is Being Raised By The Silence Who Were Created By Demons Run To Protect The Child, They All Live In The Children’s Home In Ep.2 Hence All Of The Pictures Of The Baby With Amy, And Then The Little Girl Regenerates, And The Silence Are Meant To Protect Melody At All Costs, So They Decide To Bring Down The Doctor By Exploding The Universe Which Is Averted. Back To The Little Girl, She Is Running Around When Suddenly She Finds Out That The Doctor And His Friends Are Having A Picnic In Ohio, So She Gets A Spacesuit, Goes Over There And Shoots Him, Therefore That Makes The Doctor The Man Whom River Kills. And She Is About 30 Now, So She Is Found And Taken To The Forest And Her Name Is Changed To River Song, Because The Only Water In The Forest Is The River, But Then The Storm Cage People Catch Up With Her And She Taken To Prison, This Is Probably Wrong.

i was laughing my head off when at the end it said the next episode was called lets kill hitler

  • Mels

    June 5th, 2011 - 10:24am

I don’t think it was, it was just ‘Gallifreyan writing’. It’s was more likely the Doctor’s real name, as it was his cot after all, though why he had the cot with him in the TARDIS to begin with is a mystery. He would have had to have gone back to Gallifrey at some point in his life to load it into the TARDIS and take it with him… interesting. I wonder if we’ll find out why, since we don’t really know much about the Doctor’s parents or his childhood…

… or the wtiting on the cot could just be the logo of some random Gallifreyan cot manufacturer… (j/k!) :p

How does River Song travel through time??? She hasn’t got a TARDIS nor a Vortex Manipulator that I know of, so how does she manage it???

I JUST DON’T GET IT 🙁 Why has Doctor Who become so complicated to follow and understand. Yes, the effects are brilliant BUT surely it’s the story that matters and I don’t understand what’s going on 🙁

You can tell that RTD was completely concerned with ratings and popularity, he kept using old monsters for big episodes and there was never a series without the Daleks. Moffat is a genius writer with much more complex episodes that make it a much more layered show and Matt Smith is by far the best Doctor, Tennant became a super hero or a Jesus when he was floating above the master of falling through skylights and the Doctor shouldn’t be a Super Hero or Jesus.

at the end of the trailer with the Doctors skeletal hand the slogan was “TIME RUNS OUT” when I created my series that was my slogan which is really creepy because the flood is similar to a monster I created and so are the Headless Monks!

    Thats your opinion.

I think you are probably missing the point on the title of the next show…I think its refering to what most people say when they are asked, ‘if you could go back in time, what would you do…?’ I suspect it will be more about timey wimey stuff than actually killing Hitler.

Matt Smith and Steven Moffat certainly divide the DW fans. I have watched the show since 1978 and can honestly say this is the best series I’ve seen and MS is the best Doctor I’ve watched…of course that just my opinion.
