August 24th, 2014 - 10:57am‘Deep Breath’ was very good indeed. Peter Capaldi looks set to be a terrific Doctor. I’m sure many fans and viewers will have several misgivings about this Doctor, but remember,even Troughton wasn’t that well regarded at first, following on from Hartnell in 1966.
Jenna Coleman was really great in this episode and put in a very strong performance, one of her best. Plus it’s also welcome to see the Paternoster Gang. All in all a fine opening episode for a brand new Doctor. Even the dinosaur didn’t look that bad.

August 24th, 2014 - 10:35amI found it quite amazing! Strax was funny (For once), the CGI has improved A LOT and we finally see the darker side of the Doctor never seen before on New Who. Along with the scene where Clara rejects Capaldi made my upset along with Smith phoning her. Overall I found this story brilliant and can’t wait or next week! Even if I’ve already watched most of it…

August 24th, 2014 - 10:28amI really liked this ep. When they said this was gonna be a dark doctor they meant it. Deep breath was also like f the girl in the fireplace because of the robots taking people organs and stuff (they even make a HOT AIR BALOON OUT OF SKIN) doctor who has become more adult and it is looking good. This ep was fantastic to see in cinemas. But there was a plot hole. At the end of girl in the fireplace the doctor doesn’t know the name of the ship however in this ep he knows that it is called as Madame de pompadore (think that is how you spell it) anyways fantastic ep. Ps the intro was completely weird

August 24th, 2014 - 10:00amThe episode was so-so for me. I don’t like the titles and music, the Eccleston/Tennant ones are still the best.
But my biggest complaint, not limited to this episode, is that Moffat has reduced the Sontarans to a comedy act. They now seem to exist solely to deliver a witty line when called upon and nothing else. I can remember the Pertwee/Baker era where they were brutal aliens hell bent on war and victory. RTD got them right, why can’t Moffat ?

August 24th, 2014 - 9:56amThe mannequins (robots) needed to be more menacing. left me flat. The doctor well, the jury is out and I will see how he goes. HE DOES NEED WARMTH. Also, way too much dialogue and easy explanations. 7 out of 10.

August 24th, 2014 - 9:09amI loved this show! There were some fantastic moments, I really liked the Doctor in the alley with the old man scene. The scene where Jenny tells Clara “I don’t like her, I love her” is delightful. Seeing my favorite show spotlight and normalize a lesbian relationship is so affirming. I’ve always liked Vastra and Jenny, is was great that they had so much screen time. And Strax is the bomb! Did anyone notice, or not notice, that there was Dinosaur saliva on the Tardis door from the front view and not the side view? This show doesn’t seem to miss stuff like that, so I wonder if it will be in the trivia contest on-line, or some such thing.

August 24th, 2014 - 9:06amMadame Vastra, Jenny and Strax are absolutely my favourite minor characters since Commander Lethbridge-Stewart (and daughter). I love the fun subtext of the relationship between Madame Vastra and Jenny, and that Vastra, Jenny & Strax continue dealing with monsters whether Dr Who is there or not. It’s a limited view, to see this as pushing minority views. Why not have a go at Strax for being short, while you’re at it? Vastra and Jenny are great characters with lots of audience appeal. BTW I’ve been watching Dr Who since 1964.

August 24th, 2014 - 7:24amIf you don’t like my opinions – remember, they are just that – MINE – here goes:
While the writer has originated a (very) few good storylines – stone angels for one – why on earth do we have to have gay issues pushed at us (in this case lesbianism) in what is supposed to be a family show.
I don’t care about being “pc” – Doctor Who should not be about pushing the views of any group, minority or otherwise, it should be about the story namely – SCI FI.
Since David Tennant left, the series has lost it’s way and now seems to be a group of linked special effects extravaganzas with little good sci fi behind it – a triumph of style over substance.
The action has become childish – for me, reminiscent of the playground games where kids used to run around playing “cops and robbers” – fine for kids but not for sci fi fans. There are inconsistencies and dialogue that make little sense.
Typical episode – something weird happens, lots of people run around for a while being silly, the weirdness is put right and everyone goes home happy.

If this doctor is darker as I feel he is (thank God), he needs a woman with a life behind, with common sens and sens of humor. It’s a great oportunity to take back the doctor’s daughter as well. DIffetence of age it’s great to make an encounter between that bolodie daughter and this older doctor.

The story was a little bit childish. I hope some darker complex corners of the doctor will appears.

August 24th, 2014 - 3:49amI really loved the new doctor! At last we are leaving behind the “baby doctor” stuff! I still think that Tennant was the best ever, but this one has a strong potential. I just hope they change the companion as well. Amy and Clara are both too young and we need a “woman” now. I miss someone like Donna or Rose (she was young but looked like 8 or 10 years older than theese 2 teenagers). She’s a good actress but that’s not the point. I accept that people who descovers the show right now love her, but I follow the series since many years and therefore I have perspective, Clara has a child face, she can’t deliver the strength that a doctor companion should give, even less with this new powerfull doctor.

I always feel it takes a few episodes for the new Doctor to bed in, and in Peter Capaldi I think potentially we may have a very good Doctor indeed – a bit of the William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee personalities combined. Good start. I just hope Clara Oswald doesn’t leave at Christmas as there’s something about the character I really like – the best companion in the TARDIS for some time

also a note on the ep, hated the innuendo between vastra and jenny. the kiss was a bit too much
