    Because it is ridiculous.
Hate the whole concept of gender swapping timelords.
Can’t anybody just stay as they are now without it being an issue.
This was a poor day for the series in general, and a poor way to mark the contributions of previous actors who worked hard to define the character.

Potentially like Dalek stories with Davros so it’s more about Davros. But we’ll see.

Its very sad that the cybermen won’t be the main focus

Yep, definetly OP. The sorta thing a kid would say: ‘Oh, my guys are the bestest cuz they can adapt to anything!’.
It’s just dumb, and there’s going to be some ridiculous reason why the Doctor can defeat them, and we’ll all sigh and bang our heads against the wall.

Why can’t you all just accept the Master is now female? 😀

I too feel that Moffat has overstepped the line. Parts of it did seem quite nasty and in quite poor taste. I couldn’t really imagine this episode on ealier in the day. But it summed up for me what I now feel about Moffat. That he has run out of ideas. So he feels the need to push the boundries further. I suppose the next series will be on even later, so that it can also include bad language and nudity!

Well… next series, Moffat might as well make the Rani a bloke! At least to redress the balance.

One big and surely obvious question. What does Missy/The Master gain from being in league with the Cybermen? Unless it’s back to the “I’ll side with anybody/anything if it will help me get back at the Doctor and/or conquer the universe” routine the character was notorious for in the Pertwee years.

The Master has also been notorious for viewing would be allies as expendable pawns to be betrayed or abanoned if plans go awry if they don’t have the same intent for him/her.

Capaldi isn’t to blame, he is an awesome Dr

Good, but just not into all this gender swapping cobblers.
What’s wrong with staying one sex. Counting down until the Dr changes and I stop watching.
    Love the cyber plot, awesome.

Roger Delgado was to the Master what Sean Connery was to 007.The first and best!

if they kill of or get rid of the master at the end of next weeks episode I will be really annoyed as we will probably have to wait another 5 years until another writer decides to bring him back

Brilliant episode, amazing cliff-hanger! Fantastic writing by Moffat, dark, complex and genuinely disturbing at times! Don’t Cremate me!

What on earth are you talking about? How is Moffat taking limelight away from the actors? Its only the fans who ever talk about Moffat!

Disagree that it would have been better than the Rani. No one cares about her it would have been so anti climactic. So much better with the Master.

Loved the bit where the doctor walked through the doors and the cyberman music played when you could see the tear drop shaped door 😀 I loved that – proper scared me

Couldn’t agree with you more, what Moffat has done is an insult to Delgado’s character

So like moffat to keep us guessing right up to the last minute and turning our expectations on its head. Even when Missy said mistress, I was thinking ‘Mistress rani’, but the masters had a sex change. However I couldn,t imagine Roger Delgado or Anthony Ainley wanting to snog the 3rd,4th or 5th doctor. Puts a different light on the master. I think I might have preferred missi to peel off her face to reveal John simm underneath like the master used to do back in the day. I hope we get answers to what became of the half face man etc when they were pulled up to the nethershere next episode. Can,t we have a new cyberman score instead of the old cybus industries one and the cybermen need an identifiable leader/controller again. Liked ‘The invasion ‘ homage as well.

I saw that one coming from Deep Breath so the reveal didn’t work for me.

I didn’t really like this episode, since about half of it was Pink-based. I hate Danny so much, I was actually relieved when he got run over (I can say that because he’s a fictional character) and annoyed when he came back and spent a good deal of the episode talking to Clara, even when he’s dead!

Nothing really happened in this episode though. It felt like an extended trailer for Death in Heaven, where the only big moment was, for me, obvious. Almost all of the scenes from the next time trailer from ItFotN were from part 2 of this episode. It was OK.

    November 2nd, 2014 - 12:33pm

Some very good acting, liked the cybermen and the Danny twist. The master twist however, didn’t like it one bit. Sure it’s nice to see the master but Moffat just wrote missy as “the master” horribly. Why would the master kiss the doctor?! I’m not against a female master but the way this was done wasn’t impressive at all. Would have worked a lot better with Gomez as the rani because of her acting ability, but again, better writing would have been needed. Moffats ego is just too big
6/10, Still looking forward to next week, just hoping “the master” is written better.

Could just be a bit of foreshadowing there. Or the re-use of sets. They do it all the time to save money.

Why dont we just go the whole hog and call it “DOCTOR MOFFAT”. Im sick of hearing about steven moffat. How many other shows have the showrunner hamming up the limelight like he does? Do you know the showrunner for corronation street or eastenders? I dont….he should stop trying to put himself in the limelight and let the actors be center stage. Give them stories that show of there place in the story without the need for shock tactics that only highlight HIS role in the show.
