September 13th, 2014 - 8:41pmWould you say that the Child who was the Doctor in barn was the younger version of William Hartnell’s First Doctor?
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:41pmyes probably
booboo
September 13th, 2014 - 8:42pmif we assume he was the actual 1st Doctor then yes

The TARDIS
September 13th, 2014 - 8:37pmOkay… I really enjoyed it, but I don’t like fiddling around with the Doctor’s past. Occasionally, it’s great, but it’s happened a lot recently. It was pulled off well and worked well in the episode, but I just kind of wish that Moffat would stop adding little bits into the Doctor’s life. It’s a personal preference, I’m sure lots of people love the additions to a Who history. In fact, I’d count myself among them if it wasn’t a frequent occurrence.
As for the rest of the episode, I admit I was disappointed by the scares we were promised, but I really enjoyed it as a whole.
9/10 for me, but I’m not letting “that scene” alter my verdict
daleksean
September 13th, 2014 - 8:36pmThis has to be the worst episode I have seen on doctor who since I started watching it
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 13th, 2014 - 8:38pmBut why? I really liked it. This appears to be an episode that you can only really like or hate.
daleksean
September 13th, 2014 - 8:42pmand I hated it but I did like the whole timelord barn thing the rest of the episode seemed a bit rushed
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 13th, 2014 - 8:45pmRushed…no, I don’t think it was rushed. It was a good length for the plot in my opinion.
daleksean
September 13th, 2014 - 8:46pmWell I guess we have different opinions of the episode then
Allons-y
September 13th, 2014 - 10:07pmI agree with daleksean, it did seem a bit rushed. I think the scripts have been poor this season, and I don’t rate Peter Capaldi’s acting as the doctor (although I’ve seen that he can act in some other roles). I do however think that his job has been made much harder due to the scripts. The series 8 scripts scream of self indulgence. I’m hoping episodes 7-10 may be better as the only episodes which Moffat or Gatiss haven’t written or co-written.
Amateur Collector
September 13th, 2014 - 10:14pmI agree with daleksean. This was just abysmal. Doctor Who is supposed to offer an exciting adventure every week that children and adults can enjoy. I realise that the content of ‘Listen’ may well have repercussions for the rest of the series, but who could be entertained by endless talking and talking and talking and nothing actually happening. I have no interest in Danny and Clara’s date! I love story arcs, but not at the cost of 45 minutes of nothingness!
T4RD1S
September 13th, 2014 - 8:35pmbrilliant, brilliant episode, i loved it
TheExtremeBlueTARDIS
September 13th, 2014 - 8:33pm10/10, best of the series so far. Although I feel it had to be a bit scarier, and less focussed on Danny and Clara. And I thought the child in the barn was Danny, I was like WHAAT? xD Thank goodness that got explained now.
Amateur Collector
September 13th, 2014 - 10:30pmA bit scarier!!!!!! …It was about as scary as an average episode of Scooby-Doo! If I had purchased this episode on the basis of the trailer I would ask for my money back!
Gallifrey Will Rise Again
September 13th, 2014 - 8:31pmJust awesome. I’m continuing to love the chemistry between peter capaldi and jenna. I loved the twist at the end with clara under the doctor’s bed in the barn on gallifrey, it was a rare although brief insight into the doctor’s childhood . I swear something monumental is coming this series, i don’t know what, but i can just sense it.

September 13th, 2014 - 8:31pmLoved it! Simply one of the best!
The Figure Adventurer
September 13th, 2014 - 8:30pmCould someone explain to me what Listen was?
IntoDarkness
September 13th, 2014 - 8:31pmTo be honest a small part of me doesn’t know .
The Figure Adventurer
September 13th, 2014 - 8:32pmI mean… it was just bad. Didn’t make sense! Plotholes… in fact an actual PLOT would have been nice.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 13th, 2014 - 8:34pmThere was an actual plot, and what plotholes are you referring to?
IntoDarkness
September 13th, 2014 - 8:35pmI can see where you are coming from because some parts were a little hard to understand.
The Figure Adventurer
September 13th, 2014 - 8:38pmPlotholes: Who was on the other side of the door? What was Awesome so afraid of? What was under the covers?
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:40pmthat’s not a plot hole
that’s just good writing
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 13th, 2014 - 8:40pmThat is just one plothole which isn’t actually a plothole – you’re supposed to decide for yourself! It’s either fear, or as the Doctor mentioned, some sort of species which is very good at hiding!
The Figure Adventurer
September 13th, 2014 - 8:41pmWell, did you think it was a scary episode?
Tyler
September 13th, 2014 - 8:42pmThe creatures. This is not a plot hole. It’s supposed to be left to your imagination.
The Figure Adventurer
September 13th, 2014 - 8:43pmIt was brilliant! Until the ending… the ending spoiled it for me.
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:43pmI thought it was scary
this series is rather scary
The Figure Adventurer
September 13th, 2014 - 8:46pmMaybe I was just expecting too much. I’ll watch it again, then I’ll see…
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:47pmyeah you should watch it again
I liked last weeks episode much better the last time round
The Figure Adventurer
September 14th, 2014 - 11:21amYup, just watched it again, and it was actually better. But why was Orson (I thought it was Awesome) wearing a Sanctuary Base 6 Space suit? It actually says ‘SB6’ on it. Did the Doctor lend it to him?
The Burgundy scarf doctor
September 13th, 2014 - 8:30pmDoes this episode count as a multi doctor story?
booboo
September 13th, 2014 - 8:31pm3 Doctors
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:31pmI wouldn’t say so
The Flying Shark
September 13th, 2014 - 8:30pmWow, that was brilliant!
obey the whispermen
September 13th, 2014 - 8:29pmThat was amazing loved every second.
Last Goth Standing
September 13th, 2014 - 8:29pmIt was terrific in that it begat terror, it was fantastic for it brought fantastic, it was excellent and disturbing… Steven Moffat, you have done no more than excel. A delightful tale of fear and exhilaration. I loved it. Now, Listen….
IntoDarkness
September 13th, 2014 - 8:29pmBooBoo I have an idea for a poll related to this episode.
booboo
September 13th, 2014 - 8:31pmdo tell?
IntoDarkness
September 13th, 2014 - 8:32pmA poll to see what we think might have been behind the door.
The Dark Doctor (Formally Eternal Dalek)
September 13th, 2014 - 8:29pmFrom that we now know why the Doctor ran away from Gallifray. Because (we presume) his farther wanted him to join the army and he didn’t plus other things.
I’m left wondering if the barn where we sore him as a chidl is the same barn the War Doctor activated the moment in.
100,000BC
September 13th, 2014 - 8:30pmThat is what was implied.
The TARDIS
September 13th, 2014 - 10:17pmI’m all for believing the Doctor’s reasons for leaving Gallifrey were far more complicated and confusing than anything the show could ever show us.
Mind you, in a weird way, this episode validates my own theory. But shhh… Spoilers… One day, I might tell it.
MrClever
September 13th, 2014 - 10:55pmRemember Clara telling him that one day he would come back to this barn and we saw flashbacks fom TDOTD
Doctor 909
September 13th, 2014 - 8:29pmProbably the best I’ve seen since I first watched Rememberance,Caves of Androzani and Blink! This series might just be the best ever, the next one looks great. I really hope that the dodgy sounding ones (The Caretaker, Kill the Moon and The Forest of Night [or something]) will prove me wrong.
KORSAIR
September 13th, 2014 - 8:27pmTHAT WAS EXCELLANT, I LOVED IT.

night of the ninth doctor
September 13th, 2014 - 8:25pmjust wow amazing to see the doctor as a child and when they mentioned time lord my brain just went wibbly
The Temporal Jelly Baby
September 13th, 2014 - 8:26pmLOL – same here. Let’s assume that was Gallifrey. How did they get there anyway? Maybe this is proof that Gallifrey falls no more…
KORSAIR
September 13th, 2014 - 8:25pmThat was excellent I loved it.

September 13th, 2014 - 8:24pmJust too much emphasis now on pretty Clara and ‘smart’ talk – I watched tonight to give a second chance and practically given up. It was so much better some years back when storylines evolved around other characters integral to stories with the Doctor. I like Capaldi, not the writing.
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:26pmthe writing for this episode was amazing
the astronaut of death
September 13th, 2014 - 8:23pmthat was truly the best episode 10/10 best episode of the series I loved it

September 13th, 2014 - 8:24pmI think it was the doctor as a child?
