Moffat had a great idea of bringing Gallifrey back, then ruins it by bringing Clara back. Hence the whole thing becomes a sorry mess.

Hmmmm…Very watchable, and truly great in places…but Clara’s story had been done to death (pardon the pun). The stuff on Gallifrey early on was superb, highly dramatic and effective. But I was getting very bored with all the Clara storyline mid-way into this adventure. What started as something quite epic for the first 15 – 20 minutes, then stuttered along. What started out as a great story surrounding the Doctor, quickly became another story centered around Clara! The Doctor being back on Gallifrey should have been huge throughout the story. But it all too quickly fell away in the background…as if Moffat was playing it safe. For a finale to what was on the whole a very good series was a let down overall. ‘Heaven Sent’ was brilliant, but got our hopes up too much. ‘Hell Bent’ could never live up to it’s potential. But for me…it fell quite short of being adequate for a finale. Clara’s story had finished long ago, and I’m afraid I felt she outstayed her welcome. So seeing her again just felt like covering old ground. ‘Hell bent’ gets a 6/10 from Len.

I really like it especially the conclusion. Gallifrey scenes were great especially the cloisters and references about the matrix. I also noted the references about time Lords regenerating from man to woman etc. And clara has a tardis with a immortal woman travelling with her.

List of Episodes, best to worst:
1) Face the Raven (Shame it wasn’t a two-parter- the story could have been expanded on so much more- and Sarah Dollard is and absolutely fantastic writer!!)
2) The Zygon Invasion & The Zygon Inversion
3) Heaven Sent & Hell Bent
4) The Girl who Died & The Woman who Lived
5) The Magician’s Apprentice & The Witch’s Familiar
6) Under the Lake & Before the Flood (though Toby Whithouse is my favourite Doctor Who writer)
7) Sleep No More (What an awful episode…)

The Temporal Jelly Baby
December 5th, 2015 - 9:25pm
1) The Witch’s Familiar and Heaven Sent: 10/10. Two fantastic episodes, but in very different ways.
2) The Zygon Inversion: 9.5/10. A great episode, with the Doctor’s speech making it amazing.
3) Face the Raven and The Magician’s Apprentice: 9/10. For Face the Raven, Clara’s farewell was done well and it was a great episode in general. For The Magician’s Apprentice, the Doctor played the electric guitar on a tank…enough said.
4) The Zygon Invasion: 8/10. Fairly exciting and was simply quite enjoyable.
5) Before the Flood: 7.5/10. I loved the Fisher King, despite being underused, and it was a nice plot.
6) Under the Lake: 7/10. A nice base under siege story, but just had something missing.
7) The Girl Who Died: 6/10. Fairly entertaining, but just like Under the Lake, cannot help but think something was missing.
8) Hell Bent: 5.5/10. A disappointing end to a pretty good series. It also sort of ruined Clara’s death, which was done so well in Face the Raven. However, it was nice to see Gallifrey again and I really enjoyed the first 15 minutes or so. Certain parts were good.
9) The Woman Who Lived: 5/10. It just didn’t really work for me. Again, had a few good scenes though.
10) Sleep No More: 4/10. I wasn’t fond of the found footage style and found it boring at parts. I completely understand why lots of people like it though.

Hell Bent was truly beautiful.
Clara has become the Doctor. The woman who ran away from Gallifrey and stole a TARDIS. The woman who has a companion. The woman who’s constant companion is death. The woman who lived, with the woman who lived.
Words cant describe how much I adore Jenna Coleman. Outstanding series with an outstanding conclusion. It is heartbreaking to think that this is the ‘last’ we have seen of Clara. I have loved her since it was first announced that Jenna would play the role of the next companion, and Face The Raven saw the first time that I have horrifically screamed at the television in floods of tears as the raven plummeted into her chest. That shows how much I love her. Masie Williams returning for the fourth time as Me (and Clara’s new companion in time and space) was amazing too. But nothing hurt me more than when The Doctor and Clara had their last scenes together in the TARDIS diner, outstanding performances from Jenna Coleman, Peter Capaldi and Masie Williams. I look forward to the spin off series which will happen one day (hopefully), I feel like Jenna deserves her own show alongside Masie which would go down really well everywhere, that and ‘Class’ could be the Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood of the Moffat era.

I really enjoyed it! But… after last week, I thought this whole episode was going to be a big stand-off between the Doctor and Timelords and the first 10 minutes seemed like that! I do wish they left Clara alone or that SHE forgot the Doctor rather than other way around! Also, I hope that STUPID flying diner either crashes into a moon or gets sucked into a black-hole because I never want to see IT or Clara again! The best moments were the first 20 minutes and the end where he gets the new SONIC! And of course seeing a clip of Christmas was great! Great episode, just SOOO different to what I was expectingn, I think last week was better! “I am Rassilon! GALLIFREY is mine!!”

The Galifrey aspect was superb and the scene in the cloisters was scary (made me jump!)

A near faultless season let down by a damp squib of an ending. Gallifrey returns but is hardly a part of the story – played like it’s never even been missing. More annoying is that after a ‘Doctor-led’ season it’s an episode with Clara who we have already had a long drawn out goodbye to 2 episodes previously. The only good thing was the retro-Tardis.
