2. River may be partially timelord, technically, but she’s in no way Gallifreyan.
3. At least one of the Clara fragments was Gallifreyan. Maybe that was enough to confuse the defenses. She remembers some of that, implying all the memories are there.
4. Tardises are sentient. Maybe this one likes Clara, unlike the Doctor’s. Maybe she’s intrigued by having two improbably immortal crew members. Maybe she’s as bored as the Doctor’s Tardis was.

Now, my Doctor, I’ve seen whole armies turn and run away, and he’d just swagger off back to his TARDIS and open the doors with a snap of his fingers. The Doctor in the TARDIS. Next stop: everywhere.
The Doctor: Spoilers! Nobody can open the TARDIS by snapping their fingers. It doesn’t work like that.

Just had a thought. We still don’t know who or what GUS was in the mummy ep. It’s been bugging me. G for Gallifrey perhaps?

December 6th, 2015 - 2:54pmWant to discuss plotholes.What about Clara and Ashilda flying off in their own Tardis when it’s been established in classic canon that ONLY a Gallifreyan can do that.(Or unassisted.)Theres supposed to be a symbiotic circuit that permits non Gallifreyans to be companions or Tardis a.i. views them as an infestation.Unless it’s been deactivated.

December 6th, 2015 - 2:12pmThe doctor gently weeping out ‘claras theme for the last time as she slipped out of the diner into the ‘classic’ console roomwas touching and poignant and could feel myself welling up a bit I have to admit. Even though clara was unable to change her point of death at least it ended on amore optimistic note leaving us with the notion that she and ashildr are off having many unseen adventures on their way back to gallifrey ( Theres a potential Big Finish spin off there.) So sad to see the doctor on his own without her with no recollection other than those decorative reminders on the TARDIS exterior which blew away during dematerialisation. Farewell clara Oswald you,ll be greatly missed.

December 6th, 2015 - 2:11pmI’d have thought TD Rassilon regenerated in the same scrap which caused the JS Master’s regeneration into Missy. Last we saw they were a bit cross with each other. Could be wrong but that had a “to the death” vibe.

December 6th, 2015 - 1:57pmAlso why are people so threatened by the idea of a female Doctor? I’d have thought it would depend, like the male ones, on the casting & writing. Or is that just me being gender indifferent to quality talent?
As for Karn, maybe they weren’t as despised as the timelords. If Gallifrey was in the same PLACE in space, Karn was nearby & could have still been there when the timelords returned. Neither the timelords nor the sisterhood are particularly keen to share information when they don’t have to. D’ya think they would hurtle off to find the Doctor when they didn’t need him?

December 6th, 2015 - 1:56pmI couldn’t agree more with your ranking, parting of the ways is the best thing ever and I doubt anything could top it easily. bits of hell bent were really good, and we finally know much more about the time lords (eg, what typical time lord transport looks like). but its weight was completely compromised when the episode decided to focus on extracting Clara just before her death – and the fact that she just ‘escaped’ without any consequence whatsoever was really annoying. at least Russel T’s doctor who took itself seriously.

December 6th, 2015 - 1:41pmI was disappointed with the fact that Clara is still ‘alive’. A cop out that reminds me of Peri’s departure in Trial of a Time Lord (with the underrated Colin Baker).
As for spinoffs btw, I would have quite liked to have seen one with Jenny from ‘The Doctor’s Daughter.

December 6th, 2015 - 1:36pmI’m not against occasional two parters I just don’t necessarily like having so many. As for the classic stuff, there was an element of annoying and unnecessary ‘perils’ to serve as cliff hangers. This was driven a little by the shorter run times, I suppose, but even so it could be a bit jarring, especially when watching the story as a whole on dvd.
As for forgetting Clara, tru dat. Jenna was great but the character was so annoying.

December 6th, 2015 - 1:31pmHope this is finally the last we hear of the Time War – of all RTD’s misconcieved ideas this was by far the worst. He made the daleks far too powerful. NO ONE could have taken on the Time Lords in a war. At the end of The War Games (Troughton’s finale and the first time we hear who he is and where he is from) they show themselves capable of erasing an entire planet from time ‘as if it had never even existed’.

Why should missy come back she would have nothing to do with the story line. “What the hell is going in with a tardis the shape of a diner?” You could say the same about the police box. The time lords were in the episode for the majority of the episode. After the other time lords chose the doctor, he had Rassilons power over gallifrey and exciled rassilon because the doctor blamed him for the time war.

Love the idea a TARDIS stuck as a diner! Something outta Douglas Adams.

December 6th, 2015 - 12:54pmOne can only assume that at the end of the DOTD the timelords realised it was not safe to return as the Doctor did not speak his name. They probably became impatient & decided to bypass the dangers of the universe by returning at a point in time when the universe was nearly over & there were little or no threats left. It’s implied throughout the episode.

December 6th, 2015 - 12:45pmThe episode was great but I was a bit disappointed that The Doctor didn’t seem like Gallifrey was away or he wasn’t even upset to see it again after all this time. Also I’m glad Clara got to live in the end and the whole plot was a bit to confusing for me but it was great to see Gallifrey even though it wasn’t really in the episode that much. But its still a great episode.

December 6th, 2015 - 11:08amWhat a let down! Seriously, Moffat, you had one chance to make people like you again, and you blew it! The Time Lords were hardly in it, Clara’s back, Missy isn’t, where’s Rassilon, why was the Doctor going to die, what the hell is going on with a TARDIS the shape of a diner? That means that, in the Impossible Astronaut, the 11th Doctor ‘popped out to get his special straw’, by going into a TARDIS control room he’d never seen, and come out without noticing!
WHY?
