What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

The Doctor’s search for Clara Oswald brings him to modern day London, where wifi is everywhere. Humanity lives in a wifi soup.

But something dangerous is lurking in the signals, picking off minds and imprisoning them.

As Clara becomes the target of this insidious menace, the Doctor races to save her and the world from an ancient enemy.

Now that the 1st episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

It’s going to inevitable for the Daleks to return because we have to know possibly how the first time the Doctor met Clara she was a Dalek, and possibly an explanation of how she lost her memories of him (that’s just me assuming that the future Clara will be wiped of her memories of her travels with the Doctor).

Yeah I agree, the first time that the Doctor meets her will be the last time she’ll see him. Possibly when she became a Dalek or prior to that she forgot about the Doctor? Or she was hiding it from the Doctor to save him from pain, suffering and revealing his future with her?

Reference to her death? From David Tennant and Billie Piper’s universe?

Yeah. Did anyone see who the author of that book that she was reading / recommended to that boy in the house, was by? Could it have possibly been by Amy? River? Or someone from the doctor’s past?

What about when Clara was running about with that cup of tea she must have tilted upside down about 20 times and not a drop came out but when they are back in the tardis she drinks it ?

Anyone notice how when we first met Clara, the doctor was fascinated by how she could hack the Dalek network so easily? I know that it was because she was a Dalek but surely this is a link to how today we she first came back from the cloud data/Greater Intelligence, she learnt how to hack computers so easily?

Coincidence or is the story going to come full circle so that Clara’s end is back to when the Doctor first met her, and her death???

I was a bit unsure of the episode at first but about half way through i started to love it and loved the wee clever Moffat stuff. The only thing that i really didn’t like about the episode is that the Great Intelligence were in it; I like the GI but i didn’t want them to feature in another episode. Though Moffat was successful at making the spoonheads/wi-fi scary; Miss Kizet was awesome. If i had to rate it, i would give it 7.5/10.

Maybe mistakes like these are part of the storyline? Maybe, out there there is a huge,mistake-making monster that ruins films?

Thought it was great! obviously the story wasn’t developed much and was quite basic, but arn’t all episodes that introduce new companions? remember they had 45 minutes to introduce the doctor to clara, AND to tell a story as some viewers may just be tuning in to see what the show is like, and don’t want too see the doctor find out who clara is. think about it, “rose” just introduced rose with a side note of an auton invasion (solved with a vile of water with blue food coloring), smith and jones was introducing mather/doctor (with a side note of the hospital being taken too the moon, searched, then put back) ect.. for an intro episode, I thought the story was well done asnd deeper than other openers! series 6 and 7A don’t count, no new companions were introduced πŸ˜€

Sometimes I don’t quite know what you people expect? It was a great piece of TV, and I don’t get why anyone thinks otherwise.

Perhaps the TARDIS closes its doors automatically now?

Also, when the Doctor puts Clara in the bed, he puts the jammie dodger at the bottom of the pile and then when it goes to a wide shot, it’s on the top.

Speak for yourself Scott, I may possibly be human but I’m not very clever or at all important. Especially in a cosmic sense – just a speck of irrelevant dust. As are we all. And maybe a bow tie wouldn’t suit you, but it is sooooooo cool on the doctor.

I agree it should be a 2-parter too! The solution was too quick! But overall, it was a good episode, I liked the Great Intelligence twist and the Doctor’s spoonhead ‘motivation’!

Agreed Jim, great start. And bow ties are cool for the doctor, not you mere mortals.

They should make a bow-tie-in-a-box as a collectors item
