What Did You Think of The Crimson Horror?
What Did You Think of The Crimson Horror?
There’s something very odd about Mrs Gillyflower’s Sweetville mill, with its perfectly clean streets and beautiful people.
There’s something even stranger about the bodies washing up in the river, all bright red and waxy. When the Doctor and Clara go missing, it’s up to Vastra, Jenny and Strax to rescue them before they too fall victim to the Crimson Horror!”
Now that the 6th episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

May 5th, 2013 - 11:25amI enjoyed this episode, loved Jenny’s tip of the hat to Diana Rigg (the leather suit she wore when fighting, pure Emma Peel).

May 5th, 2013 - 10:09amFab eppisode, Vastra, Jenny & Strax are sooooo much better than Rory & Amy, would love to see more of them.

May 8th, 2013 - 10:54amno CLARA BEST AMY SECOND BEST JENNY STRAXX AND VASTRA THIRD

May 8th, 2013 - 6:24pmVastra and Jenny are ok (the lesbian thing is a bit wierd but i can go with it) Strax though is one of the worst characters ever in doctor who history.
If you think their great you crearly havnt seen Elizabeth Sladens and Katy Mannings performace. Sarah Jane and Jo are the best comanions so far!
Mason Bingley
May 5th, 2013 - 9:38amA town called Pontefract was mentioned in The Crimson Horror and i live right next door to it, if only they actually filmed there 🙂

May 5th, 2013 - 2:31amBest episode of the series so far. Well done Mark Gatiss. Mrs Gillyflower and Ava were brilliant characters.
Agree with what others are saying, The Paternoster Gang really deserve there own spin off series.
TheDoctorGallifrey
May 5th, 2013 - 3:54pmThey should definitely get a spin off!
ZOEFROMGALLIFREY
May 8th, 2013 - 10:54amITS ADA not ava
Dalek the Supreme
May 5th, 2013 - 2:06amIt was funny, but aside from Mrs. Gillyflower and Ada, who were great, the supporting cast did nothing for me. Also, the idea of the Doctor and Clara being already captured kind of spoiled the hope for an episode revolving around Strax, Jenny, and Vastra. The ending was absolutely hilarious, definately the best part! 6/10
DOCTOR WHO ONE
May 4th, 2013 - 9:31pmVery much enjoyed the episode. Would have been nice if the TV announcer acknowledged that this is the 100th episode of the new series since 2005 for viewers who where probably unaware of it apart from us fan’s.
Can’t believe Strax killed Misses Peel from the Avengers, damn that psychotic Potato Dwarf !! 🙁
Shocking ending thou seeing those 2 kids discovering pictures of Clara in 1973, 1983 . . . . and the Victorian Clara !! 😀
Team TARDIS
May 4th, 2013 - 9:12pmMe and my brother loved this episode, everything in it was great! However the only thing that spoilt it was the preview of next weeks episode, we don’t like the addition of these new annoying children. I just think they’re trying to make Doctor Who appeal to all the ages by bringing in younger (unnecessary) characters. (fingers crossed they get deleted…)

May 4th, 2013 - 11:24pmIf you are referring to the parallel Earth cybermen’s catchphrase ‘delete’ i doubt they will be deleted. Considering next weeks episode re-introduces the mondasian cybermen, but redesigned. They never had any of this ‘delete’ rubbish. It was ‘You will be destroyed!’ or they just simply killed without saying anything.

May 5th, 2013 - 8:02amThe parallel earth cybermen were in the trailer.
Matt Smithy
May 5th, 2013 - 8:04amI think they are on-board so they have a reason to go to the fairground next episode, not to be full time companions or to appeal to children, how does no one see that? Obviously something will happen to them before the name of the doctor, or if not the doctor takes them back because it’s “too dangerous”. Plus the Doctor has his “no kids on the tardis” rule, so that will be interesting!
Team TARDIS
May 6th, 2013 - 11:02amOh yeah I guess that’s true, and fair enough to the Cybermen comment. We were just very frustrated as we felt it kind of killed our buzz after watching ‘The Crimson Horror’ and we’d been so looking forward to the Cybermens’ return but were afraid the attention might be taken away from the Cybermen!

May 4th, 2013 - 8:22pmLiked this episode a great deal, helped by some fabulous acting from all the cast. Did anyone else’s heart sink a bit when next weeks episode has annoying children travelling in the Tardis. Maybe they will be ‘deleted’ early on. I can hope 😉
matparks08
May 4th, 2013 - 8:22pmps – I have two children of my own so i’m allowed to be annoyed by them 😉
eddy
May 4th, 2013 - 8:25pmcompletely agree with you, found it has been becoming a little bit childish, and sarah jane adventures type, dont want them there, but i do like the look of the cybermen next time, and that little orange parasite made me a bit sick

May 4th, 2013 - 8:42pmThere’s a reason for the Children, SFX have released some teasers for next episode and it says “A big secret is hiding in plain sight. One of the kids works it out. Can you?”
DOCTOR WHO ONE
May 4th, 2013 - 9:35pmGuys, guys, guys !!!!!!! be grateful those 2 kids are not like that annoying Kelsy [or whatever her name was], the chave from the pilot episode of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’ who sald rubbish like “You are well shaming me” as if she thought she was seriously cool and important.
CG
May 5th, 2013 - 1:31pmKelsy was def annoying.
From Beneath The Bridge
May 4th, 2013 - 8:12pmAbsolutely worst episode ever!
No! Heh! Heh! Just kidding! It was brilliant. The Paternoster Gang were great too. Jenny is hot. Fantastic episode, as seems to be the norm this series.
No, I’m not really a trollish dork as I’m neither disgruntled with life nor do I hate myself. I love Doctor Who, it’s fantastic.

May 4th, 2013 - 7:48pmLoved this episode and its Sherlock Holmes feel. What this episode really showed was that a spin off with Vastra, Jenny and Strax would be a GREAT substitute for SJA! Anyone else agree?

May 4th, 2013 - 8:43pmMaybe The paternoster Gang could be the new SJA, and River and Jack could be the new Torchwood!
Matt Smithy
May 4th, 2013 - 8:58pmRun you clever boy and remember, depends what you mean by “first”. I see you commented before me, but I thought it would be a good idea about 10 mins into the episode 🙂 nah its ok mate, besides, loads of people have had the idea months before both of use 😀
Captain Jack
May 8th, 2013 - 11:01am“The paternoster Gang as new SJA, and River and Jack could be the new Torchwood!”
Love both ideas!!

May 8th, 2013 - 6:35pmYour Insane they are terrible characters! The worst in all of doctor who history along side:
Rose Tyler, Amy Pond,Rory Williams & Adric!
If you think these for are great fans, you clearly havnt seen the classic series and and you really havnt seen truly great companions!
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
May 4th, 2013 - 7:39pmYES! YES GATISS YOU DID IT! Best of series 7 part 2, with in depth characters and well thought out story to make you squirm. i didn’t miss the doctor and the way the vastra, strax and jenny’s character’s developed was great. mrs gillyflower was a strong and fantastic villain, filled with pure evil. i wasn’t expect that to be the doctor, it was a great shock! ada was the soft touch in the story, to make the viewer feel a mix of sympathy for her, and hatred for gillyflower. well done! it was amazing!
Also, happy birthday dale eternal!
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
May 4th, 2013 - 7:39pmsorry i mean dalek eternal!

May 4th, 2013 - 7:38pmThought it was absolutely a brilliant episode, no doubt about it! The scenes with The Doctor and Clara were good because it emphasised what was going on before The Doctor was infected with The Crimson Horror 🙂 I’d give it a 10/10 definitely!!
The Flying Shark
May 4th, 2013 - 7:36pmI loved that, it was great! Next week’s looks epic!

May 4th, 2013 - 7:33pmthe worst episode ever it was awfall
Lol
May 4th, 2013 - 7:31pmI liked the ending but the episode was abit stupid in places like the blind girl kept going to her mum knowing she had blinded her also they didn’t say much about Clara just saying no I didn’t seemed like there was no point

May 4th, 2013 - 7:22pmSplendid episode.

TheDoctorGallifrey
May 4th, 2013 - 7:39pmI agree! It would be amazing! Strax is the clumsy one, Vastra is the quite-serious one, Jenny is the feisty one.. they should definitely make a spin-off! It should be called The Paternoster Row Gang or something, it would be brilliant! But I hope it won’t be horror like Torchwood.
The Silence
May 4th, 2013 - 7:57pmA good name would be ‘The Lizard Woman, the Troll and the Parlour Maid’ which they used on the cover of the ‘Devil in the Smoke’ e-book.
