and its a bummer that we have to wait till the 26 for this and now I hope he does not blow up the city of the daleks but makes all the daleks forget him again but or they try to kill them when they get in to the TARDIS

Also liked the classic daleks doing some stuff…. unlike in Asylum.

Enjoyed: Davros, Capaldi finally being a rebel time lord, the Daleks feeling threatening at the end, beginning to like Missy.
Dislike: Clara was hit and miss, the entire bit with the planes was completely unecessary.
I’m not going to give this one an overall score yet as it’s a two-parter and I’d like to see where the Davros stuff goes and see if some of the plot-holes are resolved.

Quote from Davros in “Ressurection Of The Daleks”:

“I CANNOT DIE! I CANNOT DIE!!!”

Capaldis first season was a bit hit and miss. I,m hoping ‘the witches familiar maintains the consistency because the opener is a bona fide instant classic, the best dalek story since ‘asylum’. The narrative was more straightforward. it felt more like a penultimate build up to a season finale. Heres hoping all the stories inbetween are of this standard. Seeing davros looking jaded pitifully slumped over, the dying man just seemed too good to be true so seeing him rise up in his chair glaring manically into next weeks trailer seemed to show davros in his true colours. Loved the inclusion of those dalek clips. So davros, like the cybermen was recording the doctor all along. Missy was hilarious. I,m gradually converting to michelle gomez’ interpretation of the master. Similar to the loopiness of the character she played in ‘Green wing’. Iwould like to say, would it hurt the writer to throw in the odd funny line for kate stewart to prove shes her fathers daughter rather than have her on duty as an exposition on legs. Also, I know the doctor wanted his friends by his side for his final 3 week party as a supposed final hurrah but why did he feel the need to be anachronistic in the 12th century. It seemed a little out of character. This was after all the man who foiled the meddling monk in the 11th century for exactly the same thing. What,i wonder, happened with the electric guitar and the tank dudes?

Well Done to Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi for finally killing off the Doctor.

Oh, he may be still around and kicking, but the character himself is now dead to me and my wife. Compassion has always been THE KEY PART of the Doctor, the only thing that really tied together all of them from William Hartnell to Matt Smith. Peter Capaldi has been slowly killing that aspect of the Doctor since he came into the role, and now with this episode has finally killed the character completely. It was right that they foreshadowed his death, because he’s dead to all true fans of the show and the character.

I read somewhere once – “that you can’t have the doctor without the master Or The Master Without the doctor so as long as one of them is alive the other one will keep coming back”. I don’t know this is official.

    Exterminate! No!
But which friend is the Doctor saving? He kinda lost three.
While I know the Master/Missy has an uncanny knack of surviving the impossible & Clara’s teleport is linked to Missy’s & maybe they went into the Tardis, moving it at the last second (like Donna and Doctor 10 clone did), I wonder if this two parter is directly linked to the final 2. If the Doctor is making a confession maybe the intervening episodes are the story leading up to why he was on Skaro not saving Davros in the first place. Maybe we HAVE seen Clara’s exit.
As to the episode, loved it. Yes the Doctor’s party was silly but that was the point. The Doctor always tries to distract himself when he’s done something very wrong or there’s something he does not want to face.
Exterminate! Maybe the Doctor is a good Dalek…

And he’s old now and sick so it’s sort of fitting how the mask is more drained and thinner

  • Doctor Stu

    September 20th, 2015 - 11:05am

He was probably wounded from the crucible explosion and teleported away to Skaro but we shouldn’t just presume we need a good explanation.

I thought it was incredible and amazing just as everyone else, but my only problem was the “cliffhanger”…it wasn’t really a cliffhanger at all, I mean sure it ended on a “oh no, whats going to happen next”, but it was ruined by the “to be continued”!! I thought it was going to be like a proper cliffhanger with the doctors “Exterminate” and a 3 second freeze on his face as the music whooshes in over it, like the good ol’ cliffhangers! But it was cut short by a cut to the “to be continued” and then the music cam after, which I thought was a bit of a let down!!

No “to be continued”‘s and but the whoosh back over the final shot where it belongs, please!

@DOCTOR WHO ONE I knew as well I knew after hearing on a Doctor Who Forum that Davros had been taken out of The Doctor Who Experience and with the Rumours in the Mirror back in April about The Doctor killing a child (which I knew was young Davros). Its also the 40th Anniversary of Genesis of The Daleks this year so I also had my suspicions that he would be returning, even the hints in the Prologue such as in the Quote Ohila says to The Doctor “His servants seek you” “You’ve been fighting for years and particularly when she says “You owe that creature nothing.” When The Doctor said to Bors about visiting a “sick friend” I also knew it was Davros then and all that time and only me and my best friend knew and kept it secret from all our other friends. The feeling to be right about something as major as this also made us smug as well and when the boy said his name was Davros I clapped my hands really loudly and shouted “I knew it!” which bought a massive smile to my face!

Wow, that was good !! For me, that was the best episode in years. I thoroughly enjoyed the brief prologue on Karn, beforehand, but found the Doctor’s Meditation everything I dislike in Doctor Who, mainly the terrible comedy, and this did put an air of trepidation in me, coming in to this episode. However, whilst I am still not a fan of the “comedy”, at least it was bad for a reason, and passable (Bill & Ted-esque – I thought, but it has been aeons since I have seen them, and the ‘Duuude’ was very Dude, Where’s My Car ? ) – Ha !! I also found U.N..I.T’s Doctor finder a tad convenient and wishy-washy. Two nit-picks, based on personal taste, certainly does not deflect away from how good I thought that was. Well acted, strong lead characters, well written, weight, gravity, drama – YES !! Best episode for years !!

The Master has survived being killed countless times over the years and never provided a proper reason…

If the Daleks had destroyed the TARDIS, how did The Doctor get back to Davros to kill him?

  • booboo

    September 20th, 2015 - 8:20am

    really enjoyed that

all the better from staying away from spoilers and getting the surprise of Davros, no idea he was in it (although it was obvious the boy was him, newspapers reported that months ago)

  • MrHaloWho

    September 20th, 2015 - 8:20am

Anonymous, it had nothing to do with the plot. Why is the Doctor dying? What’s the point of all the bad jokes? What’s the point of even going back to the 1100s?

The episode could have had Clara and UNIT go to find Missy, they do the talking, they teleport to the Doctor, somewhere else in the same time zone, the Colony Sarff turns up, arrests them, and takes them to Davros.

The whole snakes bit, and the guitar, and the tank really aren’t necessary.

    But how did you know?

  • MrHaloWho

    September 20th, 2015 - 8:13am

Well, it’s about 7 years since they used him in the show, they probably had to completely re-build the mask.

Anyone else think that Davros face looked a little different in the Magicians Apprentice??
