What Did You Think of The Rings of Akhaten?

What Did You Think of The Rings of Akhaten?

Having found himself a new companion in the shape of Clara Oswald, the Doctor asks where she wants to go first – and her request for somewhere awesome takes the pair to the rings of the planet Akhaten, inhabited by all manner of amazing creatures.

Clara meets the young queen, who is about to take part in a ceremony called the Festival of Offerings – but what begins as a happy sing-song soon turns very grim. Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman star.

Now that the 2nd episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

The story was good, it was just too rushed the episodes feel shorter.i think they should be made an hour long instead of 45 minutes. And the flying scenes where really poor greenscreen
    Sorry I’m moaning

agreed, i thought it was going to be the main villain in this episode. it was a bit pathetic.

Worst? Really? This is my order from best to worst:

    The Snowmen
    The Rings of Akhaten
    The Angels Take Manhattan
    Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
    Asylum of the Daleks
    The Bells of Saint John
    A Town Called Mercy
    The Power of Three

What order would you all have?

yeah, 10/10 for me is a perfect episode. and so far no episode of Doctor Who i’ve ever seen has been ‘perfect’ as it were.
i would’ve loved it if the villains featured more, and were explained a bit more.

don’t see the point in that. the mummy appeared so much in the trailer, just misleading.

  • McGann is the Doctor.

The scene where the Doctor stands up to the sun was amazing, could have been the greatest moment in Doctor Who history, worthy of the 11th Doctors final scene, but they ruin it by having a leaf save the day. The Doctor’s thousand year life of adventure and danger wasn’t enough, apparently.

😯 yeah, I was so let down. But the episode was still beautiful, despite

the mummy? that was used to send a signal to the massive ‘god’ when it awoke.

  • The Supreme Dalek

    April 6th, 2013 - 7:08pm

So you think it deserves a 6/10? Well, everyone to their own opinion, but out of 10 I’d give it a 9.5/10. 🙂

i agree, the final singing scene seemed too over dramatic. it felt like the start of a regeneration scene to be honest.
and yeah, the villains should’ve featured more. they reminded me of the silence creatures abit.

    6/10

It must be a new permanent logo then. I’m not sure about it but is it like a shiny silver or stainless steel, either way, it looks good.

It was really good, but the thing that let it down was the plot line. i mean, what was it actually? it just dived into this whole thing about God’s too quickly. could’ve been better. prefer last week personally. the thing with the leaf was nice, but i still fully didn’t understand the big God. what was the point of that guy in the cage? I still dont know.

this episode was 10 times better than the bells of saint john IMO!!!

  • The Supreme Dalek

    April 6th, 2013 - 7:05pm

I must say, it was much better than The Bells of Saint John. Although I rated it best episode yet, it wasn’t really, but I had to rate it that because I enjoyed it a lot. I feel as if the main aliens (Vigils, were they called?) should have featured more in the episode, and the singing was a little too much. But overall, a fantastic episode and I give it a 5/5.

It was good but the monsters made a very vague appearance

Surely the Translation circuit would have translated the aliens at the start? And why didn’t Clara ask how they were breathing in space?
