He may have been known as the war dr, but if you watch the end of the episode, both david tennant and matt smith including john hurt all refered to him as the doctor. So calpaldi is the 13th dr

The doctor has been around for 50 years. Do you really think that just because you think america is the biggest audience that the stories should be catered to what you think is right! Dr who was popular before it hit america and it will still be popular when america gets bored with it. Does america have anything that equals Dr who and anything that is still being made and lasting as long? Dr who will be around for the next 50 years. More than likely when you’re dust in the grave

Excuse me, Coronation Street used to be my second favourite programme, Doctor Who came first. During series 7 part 2, Doctor Who became my second and Coronation Street became my best. It is miles better than the trash that is happening on Who right now. Coronation Street is good and gets better viewing figures. CORONATION STREET!

I thought Matt would be good. Peter, I’m not so sure, but I will give him a chance. It’s just I know the stories will be rubbish. It’ll just be a repeat of series 7 part 2.

Agree Half-a-Whovian, although I don’t like Clara, she’s too unrealistic (at first), she’s not as bad now, but worst start to a companion EVER! Although I do like the actress, Jenna Coleman, like I mean, who couldn’t. But The Day Of The Doctor and The Time Of The Doctor were absolutely rubbish!

Anonymous I am not trying to shout the loudest, I have a cold for goodness sake! It was just a little spin on the phrase: “Car Crash”, because Doctor Who is being dragged into the ground, deeper than ever before. “The Doctor rised higher than ever before and then he will fall so much further. This is 1989 all over again.”

Do you even know Doctor who? They can’t just keep the same Doctor because it’s popular. Doctor who has always had to keep things changed up. They’re not going to start catering just for USA audiences as well. It’s our show and a big part of our culture. Also, Doctor who was at it’s most popular when it had David Tennant and Billie Piper according to viewing figures and toy sales. So calling this the biggest blunder in show business history has to be one of the bigger blunders of the Doctor who fanbase.

Russell T Davies uses a magic wand every episode or a deus ex machina and made his finals bigger and bigger and better and better every year, well he tried to anyway and he kind of killed the episodes then. But Moffat is now running it into the ground, so YES! Bring back Russell T Davies, the second only person to save it! The first is me! LOL!

He used to be a genius. But now he is most definitely a fool. He wrecked and ruined the 50th and Matt Smith’s final bow.

Officially, his the 14th Doctor, and the 1st of the new 13 Doctors as part of his new regeneration cycle given to him by the Time Lord’s, but he’ll be known to us instead as the 12th Doctor.

It was a really good episode and was a great send off for matt smith who was and always will be a fantastic doctor, but the actual regeneration was a bit like blink and you will miss it, i don’t think it was perfect, but i still love it 8/10

With 77 million viewers, Dr. Who became a runaway sensation since Matt Smith took over the role and the story arc about Amelia, Rory, River Song, and Clara evolved. From a sheer financial perspective, its lunacy to simply kill all that off. The UK may know Capaldi but Americans don’t and we’re the biggest audience now, how can anybody risk losing that? This decision will go down as the biggest blunder in show business history. Keeping it fresh is one thing, we can all understand that. But the ratings tell us that this cast and crew tapped into a phenomena, once in a lifetime experience for all of us. I mourn its passing.

Are they going to call Peter Capaldi the 12th doctor, 14th doctor or the 1st doctor (cycle 2 version)?
