The pre-credits regeneration scene. Could it possibly have been set at the South Pole in 1986?!

I also hope there won’t be another reset button in The Doctor Falls. At the very least, if there is, let’s at least have it making sense! In other words, not just the classic “emotions win” type thing.

I am very nervous about The Doctor Falls after this. Will the presence of the more modern Cybermen models make sense and work in the plot? Will Bill’s conversion just be undone with a Moffat-style reset button?

In both series 8 and series 9 (especially 9), the penultimate episode was better than the final episode. Just this once, come on, let ‘The Doctor Falls’ be awesome!

It’s a good job Moffat wasn’t writing Doctor Who in Peter Davison’s first series. Otherwise Adric would have survived the crash into pre-historic Earth.

I think that is a worry for many of us. Like you, I was extremely underwhelmed by ‘Hell Bent’, especially after the superb ‘Heaven Sent’. I sincerely hope the same doesn’t happen again. We basically had a reset button with Clara coming back from the brink in ‘Hell Bent’. I don’t want another reset button in ‘The Doctor Falls’, even though I’m convinced there inevitably will be!

Build up to a hopefully superlative finale. But so many questions still raging; eg if this precedes the 10th Planet then how do we deal with the presence in part 2 of the latest cyber models unless it’s the John Simm Master influence?

Do we get any explanation of how in the changed” Time Of The Doctor “timeline he escaped Gallifrey after the reset of “The End Of Time” or then experienced a different reality before regenerating into Missy? It would also seem like Missy is going to seemingly side with her previous incarnation and then back to the Doctor again.

That was a great episode !!

Weight, gravity, drama – excellent and not dumbed down or blighted with woefully bad – cringing “comic relief” or the general buffoonery of the Matt Smith Era.

John Simm’s Master was well used, and Bill becoming a Cyberman was brilliant and very well played out – I hope it is not spoiled with a”reset button” or some other Moffat infeasible plot.

Capaldi, as always, was 1st Class !!

I also appreciated the science with the interpretation of the Theory of Special Relativity. Very coool !

Looking forward very much to the next episode – please don’t mess it up……!!

Well, he supposedly signed his name as “Dr. W” in “The Underwater Menace” (yes I know half of it’s missing, and I am going off of the narration on the CD, BUT…) it’s an interesting idea that I love to bits!!!! What else can that W stand for!!! 🙂

Also WOTAN said “Doctor Who is required”. Note that it also knew what TARDIS stands for.

(I’M REALLY EXCITED, SO MANY IDEAS AND THEORIES!!!!)

Yeah it would have been 10X more exciting if we didn’t know about the Mondasians, The Master etc.

Yeah totally agree with the point you make here!

Hopefully not, it will demean a great story otherwise.

Very good first half of the finale just as Heaven Sent was last season, so the question is will next weeks episode implode and become the dreadful mess Hell Bent turned out to be?
Hopefully Bill is not given the infamous Moffat reset button treatment because her reveal as a Cyberman was awesome! It would be great if she kills Missy and attempts to kill the Doctor also causing him to regenerate.

My only worry is that so much will have to be crammed into next weeks episode and that the whole Master/Missy thing will be drowned out by cybermen and what ever is going to happen to the Doctor! Bear with me now, but I think I would have preferred if the Master was revealed earlier in this episode and the Doctor learns of his scheme/plot early and that the episode ends with the doctor totally helpless so that the real action and plan doesn’t have to start next week, but only continue!! I would have loved if The Doctor Falls was 75 mins as I think that would have been enough to get through everything! I just hope it doesn’t feel rushed, cramped and bogged down with everything going on!! All this isn’t to say that I didn’t LOVE tonight’s, I did!! I’m just worried for next week! Also, I thought the regeneration effects looked quite poor compared to the Lie of the Land where they looked really good! Here’s hoping they can polish them up between now and Christmas!

Also I love how “Doctor Who is his real name” is kind of a middle finger to the people who kick up a fuss when people call him Doctor Who

Amazing episode, possibly best in the series, but what would have made it even better is if the master and the Cybermen weren’t confirmed for it. Imagine how amazing their reveals would have been if we didn’t see them coming!

Fantastic episode 10/10. Easily the best episode of series 10 so far. Although I agree with previous posts, that the surprise return of the Master wasn’t the surprise it was meant to be. Plus we knew well in advance that the Mondasian Cybermen were in the finale. So the build up in the hospital was predictable as to where it was going. However, great acting throughout, truly chilling scenes, and WHAT a cliffhanger, one of the all time greats. My only concern is that the second act of this two or three part adventure (if we include the Christmas Special), won’t quite live up to expectations. The bar has already been set very high with ‘World Enough and Time’, I’m not sure it can be set any higher. Hopefully Moffat can surprise me and deliver the goods.

Haven’t visited this site in ages, but felt I had to just to say how amazing this episode was!
Only thing disappointing was the lack of blood in the operating theatre (thought that would make it scarier) and the cyberman stomped.

Also I had no idea the geezer hanging around with Bill was the master, I was expecting him to be one of the patients

Best episode I have ever seen since I first started watching DW back in 78.

Yes, it is a shame none of this was a suprise but I blame irresponsible social media…it forces the BBCs hand into official spoilers. Nothing can be kept secret these days. Even Disney cant stop Staw Wars leaks now. However, its just shows how good the episode was when it was so brilliant even when we knew what was coming…well done Moff!

The video was just a fan filming at a press release or something. Definitely showed the first doctors outfit.

Very good! I’m going with 9/10. The ONLY reason it’s not a 10/10 is because the big reveals were of course spoiled in advance so most of the episode was basically a build-up to 2 things we all already knew about. However, it was a seriously good build-up. Tense throughout.

I loved that! It’s just disappointing that NONE of it was kept secret or a surprise! Still a brilliant piece of Doctor Who to watch!!

Yes David Bradley wad brilliant playing William Hartnell in ‘an adventure in space and time’ so would be great if he returns as the 1st Doctor and as pre-credit sequence showdown Capaldi regenerating in the snow which could link to the 1st Doctors regeneration in the Tenth Planet which was set at the south pole and features the mondosian cybermen would bring the series full circle

Great episode, didn’t see that coming! Classic who with scary cybermen, love it…
