What Happened To Rory’s Dad – Video Now Live

What Happened To Rory’s Dad, Brian Williams?

From the official site…

Rory’s dad, Brian Williams, only appeared in two episodes but swiftly established himself as a favourite amongst Doctor Who’s audience. After Amy and Rory’s heart-breaking departure in The Angels Take Manhattan we received many emails asking what happened next to Brian. Did he ever find out what took his son and daughter-in-law? If so, how? And would Brian – and viewers – ever learn more about Amy and Rory’s life after the Doctor?

A special scene was written by Chris Chibnall that revealed some of the answers but sadly, the sequence was never shot. However, we’re happy to announce that we’ll be bringing you the scene tomorrow. Using animated storyboards and a voice-over specially recorded by Arthur Darvill, we’ll discover more about Brian and the Ponds, post-Angels.

It begins with Brian alone, doing what he once told the Doctor must be done – watering the plants. But his life is about to change forever…

Doctor Who’s Executive Producer, Caro Skinner, said, ‘We’re delighted we can present this lovely scene written by Chris Chibnall. People took Rory’s dad, Brian, to their hearts very quickly, so it’s fitting we can give the character a degree of closure in this poignant piece.’

I love this scene because it gives Rory a great ending. In the angels take manhatten, Rory was just zapped away without saying goodbye to the Doctor or River. In that episode Amy had a great ending, not Rory. But in this one, it gives Rory a proper exit. 😀

That was a very sad thing to watch, I really felt for Brian. I think if they had shot that scene it would have been a nice ending to the first part of season seven. I liked Brian because he was so different from the mum’s and dad’s we’ve had since Doctor Who returned in 2005. It really showed how loved ones are left alone after something has happened to their familes who travel in the Tardis.

This is so sad, shame it wasn’t filmed. Amy and Rory I think by the looks of it went to the 1700’s?

but that wouldnt work out if Rory died in 1936 in winter quay. plus, they could come back because if the angels were wiped out by the paradox they couldnt exist, so the one that took Amy and Rory back in time existed outside of time, which still dosent make sense because it never existed in the first place!
      CONCLUSION: Moffat messed up. Again.

Moffat did NOT mess up. When Amy and Rory jumped off the Winter Quay and caused a paradox, the Doctor, River etc arrived at the graveyard in the present. Amy and Rory most likely got sent back to the 1930s-40s. To my calculations, they died around 1980-1990.

Kinda feel glad this was not used for the ending of the Angels take Manhatten, assuming this was intended to be the ending, cos the real ending to the episode, showing Katlin Blackwood as young Amelia using footage from the Eleventh Hour finished Amy’s story wonderfully . . . . oh, and Rory’s 🙂 😉

Had this been left in the damn episode, it would have been the best most powerful scene. I like Rory and his Dad and this scene is extremely sad.

I agree with you there. At least we now know that Amy and Rory lived happily after the events of TATM. It is a shame that this was never shot though, it would have made quite a good little scene.

This has always got me thinking a lot. Hopefully the Doctor won’t be a jerk and tell Brian what has happened, i wouldn’t know what i would do. If i was in that situation i would have to force myself to do so.

This will definitely make me shed a tear. I think that all the fans wanted to know what happened to Brian Williams and this is how we’re going to find out. Although it is sad that we won’t be able to see it with real actors and they didn’t get around to filming it. I hope the animation that they use is good.

Chris Chibnall did an excellent job with dinosaurs on a spaceship which was in my opinion, the best episode of Series 7. He should be in charge of Doctor who and should replace Moffat because his episodes are actually exciting.

Some of his episodes weren’t great, I’d be happy with him or Mark Gatiss, however, I think Chris Chibnall would do a better job.

Chris Chibnall is good Mark Gatiss is defintely good Steven Moffat is one of the best i want Russell T Davies back

I don’t like Mark Gatiss’ episodes. Victory of the Daleks was a clear reminder of how bad his writing can be sometimes and I’d rather have Steven Moffat. Russel T Davies did some of my favorite Doctor Who episodes and Gareth Roberts has done some great stuff too. Chris Chibnall is also great. If I had to choose three people to take over Doctor Who it’d either be Chinball, Roberts of RTD again.
