Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials Trailer

Destiny isn’t done with them just yet… The Doctor and Donna return for three special episodes. Doctor Who returns this November.

“He is remembering me…”

Neil Patrick Harris will play the Toymaker, an all-powerful enemy last seen in 1966 – but what is it that brings the Doctor face-to-face with this enemy from his past?

“What can we do, Doctor?”

UNIT is back with a bang! Jemma Redgrave reprises her iconic role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, alongside David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor.

Doctor Who returns in November 2023 with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will air over the festive period.

Doctor Who will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the UK and Ireland. Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new seasons of Doctor Who outside of the UK and Ireland.

So does that mean we are getting four episodes this year? Three with Tennant and then the (Hopefully Christmas) Special with Gatwa?

Nautical first ep will be “over the festive period”. Given that it was a staple xmad day tradition when rtd was at the helm its a given it will be Xmas day again. Th3 repress release stared ncuit first season would be spring 2024, which was later removed from the release. Again not ally was march/easter time so can expect it around same time next year. Shame cut down to 8 eps instead of 13. But as Disney series are around 6 or 8 eps was probably the agreement. Hopefully picks up from 16 series

This is gonna be interesting for new fans joining the show – you have to tell them that there are 7 specials between Series 13 and 14, which unlike e.g. the 2008-10 specials, all feature different Doctors and plot lines xD

Sorry, but I can’t stand Ten and I’m furious about a degeneration full stop. Every rule has been broken now so what’s the point of the show? Think I’ll give this a miss.

Great comment and totally respect your opinion, although I disagree it’s nice to see a different point of view.
Although I really like 10 the issues I’m having are the same for the 50th, too nu who celebratory.
I’d much rather see a mini series of 6 eps with a different past doctor in each episode. David Bradley, Davison, McCoy, mcgann, Tennant. That would be in my opinion more of a celebration. The bakers could even be included somewhere. I think (even though I wasn’t a fan of the era) Jodie’s final episode felt more of an anniversary episode. Chibnall wasn’t the best writer but he wrote the past doctors scenes beautifully I felt.
      Great comment though.

It’s not a degeneration. He’s the 14th doctor. I’m sure it will all get explained and be a great 60th anniversary story

RPG74. 10 isn’t in the 60th. It was a clip from series 4 shown in the trailer. 14 is in the 3 episodes. Maybe same face but no degeneration as would have been capaldi back. Dt has confirmed he sint 10 he’s different doctor.

NB7… would have loved a multi doctor story also, 1 story arc across a few doctors woth others making brief/cameos then coming together in final blockbuster episode. Maybe the 70th. Or maybe the 20th of nuwho in 2025. But this 3 parter looks amazing.

Nb7.. also hoping mcgann gets a series/spinoff/mini series now rtd is back. Part of his deal with Disney so maybe aswell as the unit show, maybe series 5 torchwood and a 8th Doc 8 parter. Loved his mini ep and brief appearance in power.

If he looks like Ten, talks like Ten and acts like Ten, then he’s Ten. Saying he’s Fourteen is splitting hairs, to put it mildly. But no matter, this just isn’t for me anymore. Classic, all the way now. We’re all entitled to our opinions mind, and for those of you looking forward to this, I hope you enjoy it.

I never liked him first time round. I’ll watch the specials but I’ll be glad when they’re done and we can move on with a new Doctor.

Can’t wait to watch and watch and watch again. Watched the trailer half dozen times already. As its kind of more or less confirmed that nph is playing *** ********, maybe it’s a,so true they have animated the same story (*** ******** ********) for release for Xmas.
Shame dt inly back for the 3. Would be fantastic if did another season. But amazing even get him back this time..aloynsy

It’s a fantastic trailer. I will have to (and I’m sure, will) overcome my loathing for Catherine Tate to watch it. But I won’t mess around: this looks like a delight.

How can you loathe Catherine Tate she gave us one of the most well loved and iconic companions of the shows entire run

I have disliked Catherine Tate since well before she was even in Doctor Who. It’s just personal taste, as is calling her “iconic”. Iconic has never, and still doesn’t, mean good. So I’m not sure what that’s got to do with anything.

She is good though is what I mean, she’s usually the most universally loved companion of the whole lot and their era is often voted the best of the entire show. So somewhere along the way she was obviously ‘good’ in people’s eyes.

And I’m delighted for those people. But I just don’t like her, on screen or off. I’d be a fool for not recognising that she’s popular, but obviously that doesn’t affect my personal taste. I don’t particularly like Tennant’s Doctor either (although I adore him as an actor and as a man). I’m happy that people like any era of Doctor Who. I’d hope that people would recognise not everyone’s going to agree though, and that’s okay.
