The Moffat Paradox
January 24th, 2020 - 2:35amThe consolidated viewing figures are on current form roughly on par with Peter Capaldi’s last series and he also had the effect of the series being off for a year, While its true that audience share has been around 20% there’s on the consolidated basis been no great sustained Jodie bounce..
The initial viewing figures for season 11 were slightly better than for Peter Capaldi’s first series (8) but.the average for season 8’s going by Doctorwhotv figures about 8.26m and season 11 was 8.18m allowing for two fewer episodes..So lets say their about even. there.
If season 12 overall falls and then 13 starts to fall below season 10 figures and it get worse thereon then the pleading poverty BBC is surely going to have questions about how sustainable this is even if their to be considered largely responsible with what they’ve authorised
The problem with saying that viewing habits have changed and the past is no guide to the future in a Netflix age is it denies the use of any other yardstick to assess a programme’s health and allows the bar to be lowered as to what’s thought to be good enough. And other metrics to be considered might be overseas interest as the modern series has (or did with the US) become more important there, merchandise sales and has it picked up any awards lately?
As somebody prominent in world affairs might put it. Who shouldn’t at best just be doing okay. It should be doing GREAT.

January 23rd, 2020 - 9:45pmYou have to put viewing figures into context. Sylvester McCoy was gaining 4-5 million viewers when there were 4 channels. Jodie is getting 6-7 million when there are hundreds of channels. In ratio terms she’s doing brilliantly

January 23rd, 2020 - 8:15pmHow many times? Viewing figures are still very good. People are not looking at them in context to modern viewing habits. Forget comparing figures to past series there is no direct correlation these days. Who is top ten every week for Sunday night so far. People seem determined for it to be a failure. It’s not.
The Moffat Paradox
January 23rd, 2020 - 7:59pmYes but the last word on these things beyond that is the consolidated viewing figures in the UK anyway

January 23rd, 2020 - 5:34pmJust read that as well ergon. So happy! I’m not reading the comments on the episodes as I love the new series so far, my kids love Jodie as well. Brilliant news
The Ergon
January 23rd, 2020 - 2:50pmJodie confirmed for series 13 and not about to hand the TARDIS key over for a while.
booboo
January 22nd, 2020 - 8:19amyes we have removed the reply facility as well and wont be putting it back
Doctor Sri
January 21st, 2020 - 2:23pmCan’t see the cyber man episode being a two parter, it’ll be another rush job where the monster is introduced 20 minutes in, seen about twice while we side line it for historical education and then defeated in the last minute by the sonic, electricity, the power of talent, love or some device the doctor just grabs out of her pocket from nowhere
Dalek Eye Stalk
January 21st, 2020 - 12:36pmWho’s the sinister guy in the Tardis? Is it the Valeyard?

January 21st, 2020 - 4:38amI see my least favourite Dr Who vilians are back, the Cyberman are to much like the Daleks in general outlook on the Universe for my liking.
Wonder if we will find out why Judoon is the only language the Tardis can’t translate.
I wonder if we will get an decent explanation for what the Master told the Doc or it will just be a wishy washy one. Dr Who needs a massive show defining moment, been missing in recent years
Broken Cylon
January 21st, 2020 - 1:41amSo I don’t know where else to ask, but are comments turned off on the Tesla episode article.?
The Moffat Paradox
January 20th, 2020 - 10:25pmSlightly off subject but it would appear that in “Picard” a similar mistake has been made that Whovians would recognise in the creation of a race like the Movellans.

January 20th, 2020 - 8:54pmThat’s the rumour.

January 20th, 2020 - 6:19pmLooks like we are going back to Gallifrey?

The Temporal Jelly Baby
January 20th, 2020 - 4:18pmNice trailer. It looks like there’s plenty to be excited about. 🙂
I’m really not quite sure what’s going to happen with the Cybermen. Are they going to be in the rumoured Mary Shelley episode? The 2-part finale? Both? If it’s just the Mary Shelley episode, then what will the finale be about? Whatever the case, I can’t wait to find out.
I’m also very curious as to who that man smiling in the TARDIS (with the red background) is…
Mark Belsom.
