A picture is worth a thousand words… please feel free to print and circulate.

Tom Baker…

Sarah Jane dead? No, impossible! Impossible. Only last week I agreed to do six new audio adventures with her for Big Finish Productions. She can’t be dead. But she is: she died yesterday morning. Cancer.

You can read the full tribute Here.

Matt Smith…

“What struck me about Lis was her grace. She welcomed me, educated me, and delighted me with her tales and adventures on Doctor Who. And she also seemed to have a quality of youth that not many people retain as they go through life. Her grace and kindness will stay with me because she had such qualities in abundance and shared them freely. I will miss her, as will the world of Doctor Who and all the Doctors that had the good pleasure to work with Lis Sladen and travel the universe with Sarah Jane.”

David Tennant…

I just can’t believe that Lis is gone. She seemed invincible. The same woman who enchanted my childhood, enchanted my time on Doctor Who and enchanted generations who have watched her and fallen in love with her – just like I did. I feel very honoured to have shared a TARDIS with Sarah Jane Smith, and I feel very lucky to have shared some time with Lis Sladen. She was extraordinary.

Russell T Davies…

“I absolutely loved Lis. She was funny and cheeky and clever and just simply wonderful. The universe was lucky to have Sarah Jane Smith, the world was lucky to have Lis.”

Nicholas Briggs…

We are all so shocked and so very sad at the news of the death of Lis Sladen. Only yesterday I was filming a DVD extra in which I was talking with such heartfelt passion about how she was so ‘luminous’ on screen and how brilliant she was as Sarah Jane Smith.

Please bear in mind some comments on this site are from very young and upset people. This news as come as a great shock to many fans, old and new.

She was unquestionably the best of the Doctor’s assistants, and will be sorely missed by young and old fans alike. Her show was enlightening and it introduced me to a whole new branch of Doctor Who. Such sad news. Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith <3 .

I’m not sure I could watch a series 5 now – it would feel too different. I hope they put a tribute on one of the episodes on the new series for her

I’m still in denial. I never thought I would post a comment and end it with. Sarah Jane Smith has died. I’m truely and utterly gobsmacked and sad. It would be a huge disapointment to all Doctor Who fans world wide and not to mention Liz’s friends and family. Sad, sad news.

The principal cast of the Paradise of Death (Jon Pertwee, Nicholas Courtney, Barry Letts, Maurice Denham, Harold Innocent and now Lis Sladen) are now all dead. Think about it, that was only made in 1993! Kind of gives you a dreadful feeling of mortality…

I think steven moffatt should do a mini episode where the tardis goes off course and lands at sarah`s funeral and luke, rani, clyde, k9 ect are all there and the camera zooms to the doctor sheding a tear i think that would be a beautiful send off to one of the most beloved companions ever R.I.P

When my friend txted me last night at about 11pm and told me this news I was completely non-plussed ! I was privillaged to meet Liz Sladen a few years back and what a lovely lady she was. She took the time to chat with me about her time on Dr Who, despite the queue being “miles” long ! A nicer lady you could never wish to meet. My thoughts go out to her family and friends as well as all those (like myself) who are mourning this incredibly sad loss. RIP Elizabeth Sladen, Sarah Jane Smith, sadly missed but never forgotten.

This is absolutely devastating. Reading the news article, with a picture of her radiant smiling face and the words DOCTOR WHO ACTRESS ELISABETH SLADEN DIES… it felt like some sort of alternate reality like in ‘Whatever happened to Sarah Jane?’ Ah! She and her incredible show are embedded in my childhood mind forever! But all I can say is thank you… 🙁
