I agree. Martha was a star.

Oh, come on! Turlough was awesome, they just didn’t use the character to his full potential. After the whole Black Guardian thing, he just kept getting lost and captured until “Planet of Fire”. He rarely got a chance to shine.

    My top 5 is:
    1. Amy Pond (Karen Gillan)
    2. Rose Tyler (Billie Piper)
    3. Donna Noble (Catherine Tate)
    4. Lady Christina de Souza (Michelle Ryan)
    5. Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman)

So I find this poll wrong.

i think a fairer way to compile a ‘true’ top ten companion list would be to ask people to rate each one out of ten and then work out the average – that way the one less known today but still amazing (ie, ian and barbara) would probably shoot right up.

where is zoe and Jamie? Barbara? Ian? WHERE IS VICKY??

Honestly, I can’t believe people claim to be fans of Doctor Who, yet they havent seen a single episode pre-reboot. Doctor Who has 25/26 series before this reboot, and while its great..its not really true Who.

Best Companion in my opinion is Ian, the man who gave the Doctor his humanity.

Actually the Brigadier did travel with the Second and the Third Doctors in “The Three Doctors”, which also introduced Omega, if I remember well. 😉

Oh and the Brigadier? I would vote for him but since when was he a companion? Friend more like. He never travelled with the Dr.

I’m really glad Rose came first, she totally deserves to be there, she really was the best! Why Amy Pond is fifth I’ll never know because I hate the character – Karen Gillan seems really nice so it could be the writing but I really dislike Amy.
Glad Donna came third – she was awesome! Glad Jack was high up too!

martha should be at least top 3, i don’t know the old ones enough to judge though. amy is so high on the poll because she is the most recent one.

i think its stupid that new companions or ones who have mostly appeared in the top five…i see no point in people voting if they don’t know who all of the others are it’s completely biased.

Really?? Donna’s in the top 5? How’d that happen? I felt like I suffered through that series a bit. My fav’s are Amy, Rose, Jack, & Sarah Jane. Jury’s still out on River… waiting to see just how the future plays out with her. In my head, she hasn’t been a full fledged companion yet. I’m catching old episodes online, getting familiar with the likes of Harry, Zoe, etc. I sometimes watched the 4th doctor & Sarah Jane when I was little, but not much beyond that & The 5 Doctors. I’ve watched it a lot more since they reignited the show in ’05.
