Well, as the 7th Doctor said : Time will tell, always does.

Yes your right about the 1974 Daleks having orange lights, but the classic Dalek in picture 4 doesn’t, it has ping pong balls on the dome which matches the look of the early 1960’s Daleks.

Check out this picture, it has orange lights, a 1974 Dalek http://www.projectdalek.com/uploads/monthly_02_2012/post-9494-0-93896300-1330463295.jpg

No, it is a 1974 Dalek. It has orange lights on it’s dome, and if you’ve ever seen ‘Death to the Daleks’ you may recall one or two Daleks in that story had orange lights on their domes.

    It’s not a 1974 dalek, it’s an original dalek from 1963.

    No it’s not, it’s a 1974 Dalek.

Jelly Baby 100 – Looks more like a 1974 Dalek from ‘Death to the Daleks’ rather then a 1960’s version, as it has a silver dome with orange lights on it, and one with silver dome and orange lights did appear in the aforementioned story http://www.projectdalek.com/uploads/monthly_02_2012/post-9494-0-93896300-1330463295.jpg

When Jenny regenerated in ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ she still appeard the same. Also, I would say it was inconclusive as to whether it was the usual time lord regeneration, or more an effect of the terraforming device.

I bet the women at the end is Jenny (From doctor’s daughter)
    because:
1st: She regenerated at the end of Doctor’s daughter in a rocket and her character hasn’t returned yet
2nd: Masie Williams is playing the women at the end and the first episode Masie Williams appears in is the Girl who died and everyone thought jenny died at the end of the doctors daughter (but she didn’t she regenerated and hasn’t returned yet)

God damn it, you’ve got my attention yet again. CURSE YOU ADVERTISING!

From just this, I’m liking the look of this series a lot more than anything from series 5 onwards. There’s a lot of horror-ish elements, which I do quite like, especially the weird skull-headed thing and those creepy hands. Yes, a slightly darker turn is much welcome, and I hope this is the series that 8 was supposed to be. (For the record, 8 was alright, better than most of the 11th Doctor’s series).
At least they know how to get my attention. Daleks? Yes! Old ones too? Double yes!
    *dances furiously*

Yes, its just over a week to go for me now, just popped back to the 10th July to see how you are all coping. You’ve seen nothing until trailer two, its gobsmacking.

I hope it’s explained how Skaro can still exist rather than it just appearing with no explanation like in asylum of the Daleks

    July 10th, 2015 - 9:06pm

I make it the 5th (well I heard it was 12 episodes again, is it 13?) But in any case that is very close to the Christmas special.

  • JellyBaby100

    July 10th, 2015 - 8:59pm

Yes, you can tell it’s an original Dalek because of the ‘ping pong ball’ dome lights, whereas the Death to the Daleks models had Land Rover headlights.

I’m certain that that city is the same city as in ‘The Dead Planet/Mutants/Daleks’ (whatever you want to call it’), as the scenes with the Daleks are set in a very similar environment to the interior of set city, with an original Dalek(!!!) and something that could easily be a Skaro door crushing a Dalek at the beginning.

However I must disagree with the “redressing of the set from ‘Into the Dalek’” theory because they don’t keep sets that long, it looks quite different and corridor sets are pretty cheap anyway.

  • JellyBaby100

    July 10th, 2015 - 8:51pm

Don’t forget the 60’s dalek in the background too, which is extremely compelling evidence that we’re back on the original Skaro city. Plus the wall design is similar, and the thing that crushes a Dalek at the start could easily be a Skaro door

In picture 4 it’s a 1963 dalek from ‘The Daleks’.

In the current issues of Doctor Who Magazine, Clara has encountered one of her echo’s called Winnie. Unlike Oswin or the Victorian governess Clara, Winnie actually lives even thou at first it seems she was killed off.

More like Skaro. I think they are trying to either –

    A) Show the Thal or Kaled dome from ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ during the thousand year war before both sides built protective domes over their cities.

    B) It’s a recreation of the Dalek city from their 1963 debut story.

    C) It’s a totally brand new Dalek city entirely.

  • Doctor Stu

    July 10th, 2015 - 4:59pm

The metal city looks very gallifreyian by the shape and mountainous surroundings it reminds me of the Moldovarium in the pandorica opens

  • The Bad Wolfie

    July 10th, 2015 - 4:44pm

This series looks a lot better than last years! Coming from someone who is not keen at all on the 12th Doctor, he seems better by what is in the trailer.

So glad that Clara is back again, one of the best companions (in my opinion). Its cool that there is a classic Dalek as well, may even be from a trip to the Dalek Asylum, before it blew up, in which case Clara may meet her Oswin echo.

The Master looks menacing again, as do the zombie-like hands coming out the ground 🙂

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

No need to moan Anonymous. Not everyone liked River Song, just like some of us don’t like Missy, or other fan’s, unlike myself, don’t like Rose Tyler or Donna Noble.

You can’t like every character in the Doctor Who universe you know.

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    July 10th, 2015 - 3:59pm

Not all of us like River Song. Glad the annoying woman is gone. Got fed up with her ‘hello sweetie’ and ‘spoilers’ all the time.

I’ve nothing against Alex Kingston, but her character was just irritating at times.

Nothing wrong with Jenny thou, she’s not irritating at all, a superb performance from Peter Davison’s daughter and David Tennant’s wife Georgia Moffat / Tennant.

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

Here’s a thought – Why is there a classic series Dalek in series 9 ?.

    Could it be –

    A) The Doctor and Clara end up in the time period of the silver and black Daleks of 1974’s ‘Death to the Daleks’, and the Time War Dalek seeing in front of the classic series Dalek is a prototype Time War Dalek which may have been an experimental model which ended up being used eventually in the Time War ?.

    B) Steven Moffat [may have] seen the awesome YouTube animation ‘Dalek Tales – The Dalek That Time Forgot’ and decided to do a story where a Time War Dalek ends up in the era of the aforementioned 1974 Daleks ? and the Time War Dalek tries to change history is some way by encountering those classic series Daleks ?.

    C) Because Moffat just wanted something from the good old days to make an appearance for the fun if it 😀

SUSAN – Can’t be her. Susan has no mean of leaving 22nd Century Earth as far as we know.

ROMANA – I couldn’t see why it could not be here, but assuming if it is Romana, her existence would have been unknown to the Doctor as a survivor of the Time War because Time Lord’s are telepathic, and Romana would surely have used a Chameleon Arch to hide herself somewhere in space and time, but if the girl is Romana, then why has she not used a Chameleon Arch to hide herself like the Master had done if she too intended to escape the Time War and never be found ?.

RIVER SONG – No . . . . please god no, not her, couldn’t stand her, plus her story is done so leave her be.

THE RANI – Same as what I’ve just said about Romana.

JENNY – Now if she was her, that would be brilliant, cos like many fan’s I miss the Doctor’s funny daughter.

Settle down! Settle down! Let’s think this through…
The girl at the end is someone who knows the Doctor, but who? I think we’re going to play ‘Guess who the reoccurring character is’, like with Missy in Series 8.
    She could be…

Susan, Romana, River Song, The Rani, Jenny (The Doctor’s Daughter) or someone else.

But to play this game well, we must watch a few episodes first and decide logically. We must not automatically come down to conclusions from a trailer, expect what is going to happen and then be disappointed.

    Everybody got that?!

“To be honest, I’m not that excited for Series 9. It looks the same as Series 8, but with Maisie Williams” On what point does it look the same as series 8? There’s so much new stuff that series 8 didn’t have

” And the rest of it is the same as Matt Smith’s series’: the Daleks, the space suits, Clara, Missy, chased by zombies, running through corridors etc.” Missy wasn’t in Matt Smiths series, Doctor Who has always been Daleks and running down corridors. And of course Clara is going to be there!

“And that new monster in the 3rd pic is probably one where, if you smell it, you die. We’ve already had ‘don’t blink’, ‘don’t breath’, ‘don’t think’, ‘don’t see or hear’ twice, ‘don’t believe’, ‘don’t forget’…” You complain yet they are some of Doctor Who’s greatest monsters- The Weeping Angels, The Silence, The Clockwork Robots, The Teller etc.

    So dont complain.
